Voted absentee last week cause I'm outta town on 11/28. I even proudly wore my New Yorkers for Hillary T shirt!
More important than the presidential race, I voted for Zephyr Teachout and Terry Gipson and Chuck Schumer.

Very interesting topic, one that has given me more pause and introspection over the years than I care to admit.
My great grandmother, and my grandmother, both deeply flawed, prideful, overbearing legends in their own minds rammed this thing down the throat of my father and mother. And of course as a fourth gen born in, the die was cast for my life. I can't disregard the fact that I followed this nonsense into my adulthood even with the nagging doubts. Can't disregard the fact that as an elder I probably bear responsibility for inflicting pain on others by way of towing the company line.
Yes, I wonder about and have little patience for people (including family members still in) who despite knowing that its a shady cult still remain in. What I have noticed though is that while still "in" they are mostly morally bankrupt despite alll the meeting attendance and field service.
I agree with you Simon, that I mostly feel pity for those still in. And I also feel gratitude for this board and all those that participate in it. It was and is a powerful force in helping me to abandon the cult and become a better person.

So the basic question is what now? I'm a liberal and recognize that many of the assumptions of liberalism are on the ropes.
For example, we voted for free trade based on what the economists told us was best only to find that free trade did indeed have a negative impact. And our governments mostly ignored the working class people whose livelihoods were lost. This is one of the factors that gives rise to an electorate that is willing to vote for an angry, unhinged demagogue that spews populist rhetoric.
The challenge for Hillary going forward, is how to address the very real and raw emotions of nearly half the electorate who feel they've been sidelined by the liberal elite.

Will the UN turn on Religion?

as all witnesses know, the opening gambit of the great tribulation will occur when the united nations turns on organized religion to devastate them and leave them naked of people and resources.

however, as jehovah's judgement day has been spoken of as being "imminent", the question that can be fairly asked ... 'is the united nations organization actually in a position to act as god's destroyer of false religion?

while i have no doubt that most within that organization had in the past tried to make the lives of the desperate better, the united nations has unfortunately now become a weak and underfunded political eunuch.

The UN is literally largely bankrupt and could hardly field an army, let alone stamp out all religion.
Oddly enough the average Dub doesn't even know about it's significance in JW doctrine.
