Well, I thought they were funny.
by Ultimate Axiom inlike many others, our local church produces a newsletter.
church car park sign... “for members only.
trespassers will be baptised”.. a sunday school teacher asked, “johnny, do you think noah did a lot of fishing when he was in the ark?” “no,” replied johnny, “how could he, with just two worms?”.

RUSSIA: Many meetings raided and evidence planted
by ZAPPA-ESQUE inraids on jehovah's witness premises now take place more than three times per month.
these raids on doctrinally pacifist* religious communities often involve many heavily armed and camouflaged officials, with the "discovery" of apparently planted banned "extremist" literature.
legal dissolution of communities can follow.. http://www.forum18.org/archive.php?article_id=2228.

This planting of evidence is nothing more than propaganda designed to make the org look good. As with everything western at the moment. It is all Russia's fault.

by WTS Archive intl;dr: if you live either in scotland or in other parts of uk and you don't mind traveling, you might be able to help a fellow ex-jw by being present during a courtcase where she alone has to face more than two dozens of jws who have ruined their business.
please contact me directly for details on when and where the court case will be held (i will know these details in few days probably).

Huh Simon? If indeed you were a JW, you dam well know what mind control can do to an individual. What a completely heartless thing to say!

Selloff Hinted At Assembly
by thedepressedsoul inthe last talk at the assembly made an interesting statement, "we can show faith by following direction if we're asked to move to another kingdom hall for better use of dedicated christian funds".
this statement has everyone talking.
i spoke to multiple individuals and they heard the same thing at different assembly's.. i know they have been "evaluating" all kingdom halls the last year or two.

If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

No matter what we do, it will never be effective, unless there is already a certain amount of doubt within the JW at your door. This illusion we can "wake up" a JW is just that, an illusion. Don't forget, they have a scenario for anything that might happen at the door.
Hostility = persecution, and Jesus said they would be persecuted in his name, although the name of the people at your door are actually JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. So totally invalidating their argument, however, they will not be able to grasp this fact.
Not interested = why?/apposed/you just don't know until you try, hence the repeated return calls.
Their now defunct manual. "Reasoning from the Scripture's" has just about every answer to use on the unsuspecting householder. However, this book no longer has the effect it once had, hence the reason it has be discontinued. Also, it has "old light."
Don't forget. As a JW, they are trained to sniff out (or snuff out 😉) those who are "apposed" to the "good news." Most JW's can spot and exJW from a mile away.
Best thing anyone can do is smile, thank them, and politely tell them that your not interested. If they persist, then slowly close the door whilst still being polite. This will be far more affective than being met with hostility.

JW Carts Cause Thousands to Start Studying!!!
by Drifting Away ini would love to know the stats of how many hours were spent, standing by a cart, or sitting at a local town fair with jw table tent set up, compared to the number of bible studies started that led to baptism since the inception of the carts.
anyone have any idea?
if i had to guess i would say thousands of hours pent standing by a cart, and maybe less then 5 that actually got baptized.

They have started carting in my home town recently. Every Monday morning. I was down the town on Monday and saw one of the tracts on the floor...ripped up. Best thing for them really. -

A religion or OCPD?
by Xanthippe ini came across this paragraph about the causes of ocpd and it occurred to me that jws as a religion do reward ocpd traits.
they insist you adhere to rules and behaviours to the impairment of social and family activities.
perfectionism, strict moral code, lack of generosity.. so does this religion cause this personality disorder or does it recruit people who suffer from it?.

I am just coming out of a stretch of depression. Not only that, I have had a a bout of irrational fear of death. These symptoms are a product of my upbringing in this cult. You can escape this cult. However, the mental torture can stay with you for a long time. I hope one day I can get over this. Or at least alleviate these feelings to an extent that I can live a normal life.
So yes, by my own experience, I can truly say that such mental illnesses as OCD are a product of being in a high control cult.

"putting on the new personality." By these words used by the watchtower for someone who falls in line with their teachings. Yes I would say it causes one to have issues with OCD, or any mental illness for that matter. I would even argue that there is a certain percentage that may suffer from a spectrum schizoid personality disorder too.
