Well my JW elder dad has lost his job...

as a little background, my dad became a jw in 1980 i think, went to bethel, married my mom in 86' went back for another year and then i came along... he worked in the auto repair shop at bethel while he was there, and upon leaving, continued working in this field.

my whole life they have been the type of jw parents that tell you how you will never get to high school, never graduate it, never get married in this system, never have children in this system etc.. i say this to illustrate the end is just around the corner attitude they have always had, probably because they fully bought/buy into the hype at the conventions/wt articles.

my father has no plan in place for retirement, and he is physically slowing down doing such hard laborious work.

so typical for JW parents to want to move in with their children. You say they don't have a retirement plan in place? I can assure you, YOU are the retirement plan.

I couldn't count on all my fingers and toes how many JW families I know that have moved in with their children to get by in their "golden years". I've even seen a reitred couple move in with their VERY elderly parents!! they are in their early 60's and their parents are late 80's. Now they all live and the children are "caring" for their parents.... or is it the other way around?

PRECISELY !!! you got it Billy. The GB didn't tweak Jah's name because they were actually WRONG, they changed it purely to gain some sort of personal adavantage. To be able to link organizational "tacking" to Jehovah "becoming" what ever is needed at the time is strategic positioning to gain credibility.

I see more changes on the horizon, their warming the R&F up for it already

steve imhof, a bethelite in the 1970s and former very active elder who became a very vocal wt critic starting in 2002, was 65 years old when he died.

he was father to three children and two grandchildren.

1914 countdown card in 2014 Yearbook

the 2014 yearbook has a scan of the 1914 countdown card.

it does not say whether this was published by the watchtower or independently, so please let me know if you have any further information about it.

in typical offensive fashion, the yearbook blames the members rather than themselves for the false expectations held for 1914.. some bible students even carried a countdown card so that they could mark off each passing day.

well, had a loooooooong conversation with the missus again after being accused of being overly critical of the borg.. .

i stated that i thought the borg was marvellous, full of really good people, (in our experience, it has been so far), but that i had difficulty with the dogmatic stance we had on certain issues that we couldn't possibly be sure about, and that if i were to vocalise any of these issues and unrepentantly not change my thinking, then i could be df'd for that, which i view as an unloving bullying tactic.

organ transplants, vaccinations, (jah will resurrect, don't worry), new understandings of the fads and generations etc... particularly the thought that only jw's will be saved.

Seriously, who are these people who say that NON-JWs will survive armageddon? That is NOT a borg teaching never has been. Most uber dubs I know sit around and mentally circle jerk themselves getting off on who IN the cancer won't survive.

I've actually heard of a CO commenting to his family that the society is seeming to take this stance lately, that "good people" may be selected from outside the organization by Jehovah and so we can't be to intolerant of others in our ministry. I heard this about 2 years ago, but haven't heard any other comments like that since

The very fact that I am talking only about BIBLE and JWs is more than enough for anyone to know that I am here NOT for any other organization!

My strategy is simple--Using the same Bible and disproving the Claim of JWs that Bible is their authority!

My intention is sincere--I wasted half of my life with JWs--I sincerely desire it should not happen to anybody else.

You sound just like a JW except you are vastly more dangerous to the lives of those who may be foolish enough to listen to even a single word you say or type. Please stop posting on JWN. We all hate everything you stand for

They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"

a friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.

as regards pursuing higher education?

the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

the pattern I see it this:

kids that go to college/university obviously don't pioneer right out of highschool. Typically, non-pioneer HS grads that go straight into the work force tend to marry good little JW girls young and fresh in their late teens and early 20's.

But if a college/univerisity student graduates at 22 years old, then spends a year or two focusing on finding employment, then their social network consists of mostly non-JW's and they are old enough to think for themselves and see the BOrg for what it is.

Good little pioneers would rarely have the mental capacity to think independantly of the BOrg and the 19 year old married couples tend to jump right into JW congregational life so they too, don't have the objectivity to question.

the reality is, if a young person delays "commitment" to the BOrg either by marriage or pioneering when they are fresh out of HS, their ability to think independantly of the BOrg walk them straight out the front door.... and this is exactly what is happening
