Bill Cosby - too much smoke for no fire?
by Simon init seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.
i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower
by wannaexit init's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.
by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.
but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

((((((WANNAEXIT)))))))
I can certainly empathize with you and you have every right to feel that way. 20 years is a long time.
One thing that helps me is to contemplate the lives of others, not JW's, but others around me. The perspective we have on life is unlike so many around us. It came at a great cost as it did for you, but many struggle their entire life without getting anywhere near our perspective.
this comes only from a tragic event, for many exJW's that event isn't a car accident or beating cancer, but losing our identity and starting our lives over.
You could have done all of those things your cousins did and be miserable, these feelings you have are not entirely unique to former JW's, people of all religions (or not) of all walks of life look back with regret about life decisions and lost time.
Does everything happen for a reason? your life as a JW doesn't have to be all negative, you were still you, you were growing into the person you are today.

Scientists Should Not Dismiss Genesis So Quickly
by Chris Tann innasa discovery proves the bible scientifically accurate.
the debate.
for decades there has been a long standing debate between science and religion as to the validity of the biblical genesis account of creation.

I remember being at the assembly in 1982? when this was released. Everyone was so excited that we finally had a SIMPLE explanation of Revelation with PICTURES. Not like that awful Babylon book
Looking back now, i remember studying this at the book study so many times, but the final time I was mentally out of the BOrg and I couln't believe how assinine this book was!
the 24 elders are actually the 144k, so the 24 elders in 1914 are pictured standing in front of the 144k (themselves) in the future when their number is sealed, but they are together now because the 144k is SO SURE TO TAKE PLACE its as though its ALREADY OCCURED and they are singing a song to themselves even though some of the 144k aren't even born yet (remember its 1914 when they're singing)... get it??INCREDULOUS!
I notice the R&F never talk about that book much anymore, as if they know what a crock of shit it was. When the next Revelation book comes out one day people will be so excited to finally have a book that explains the true TRUTH about Revelation and they will be SO HAPPY

Why do "Apostates/exjws" always go into "Watchtower-bashing" when you show them inconsistencies in the Bible?
by booker-t ini have noticed with "apostates/exjws" they always resort to "watchtower-bashing" whenever you show them inconsistencies of the bible.
we could be talking about contradictions, such as where did cain get his wife if adam, eve, abel, and cain were the only ones on earth?
the usual answer when they cannot answer will be "well the wt gave false prophecies in 1975".

As was pointed out to me recently,
this is an exjw forum, hence conversation is JW/WT centric

Changed: Head coverings for sisters, w15 2/15 QFR
by wifibandit indoes a female kingdom publisher need to wear a head covering if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher?.
in a questions from readers item published in the watchtower of july 15, 2002, it was stated that a sister should cover her head if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher, whether he is baptized or not.
further consideration of the matter suggests that a modification to this direction is appropriate.. if the male publisher who accompanies the sister while she conducts an established bible study is baptized, the sister would certainly want to wear a head covering.

when I was 14 I attended a FS group of probably 40 people and I was the ONLY baptized male there. An uber-dub pioneer in her 60's took the group wearing a head covering then asked me to give the prayer
was so weird, and terrifying for me at such a young age

like much of what the BOrg teaches, it only truly makes sense once your mentally free and you quit the mental gymnastics
it all makes sense once you leave

agreed vidiot
to see the R&F and their children suffer because of the BOrg's unscriptural rules is too bad. They are good people, they are meek, that is why they obey blindly. They just want to be happy. Not unlike the malawe and mexico scandals ray franz talked about it CofC

"It's the intent that counts and not the result."
by donny in"it's the intent that counts not the result.".
i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.
the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.
