Saturday's talks made me feel sick, distressed, angry and depressed. I also looked around and wondered how many like me were enduring it. Didn't help much to see 'apostates' (I would call them awakened ones) outside. I would loved to have stopped and talked but couldn't. I didn't go Sunday!

"Truth Brings Not Peace, But A Sword" talk Jehovah's Witnesses 2013 convention
by doughnutkitty ini'm at the convention now (by parental force) and i just heard in the saturday talk "truth brings not peace, but a sword" about how it's a terrible "torture stake" that witnesses are disinherited by their worldly families when they choose to join the jehovah's witness religion and how awful and painful that is for a person to endure.
switch the situation around and you'll find it is exactly what happens to those who choose to leave the organization, but only then is it okay because "disfellowshipped people need to be disciplined"?
this is absolutely ridiculous.

Lurkers and Apologists, can you please explain.....
by DATA-DOG in..from the scriptures why.... 1) material wealth is a sign of jehovah's blessing in our modern day.. 2) why jehovah blesses the growth of chicken populations, but allows active jehovah's witnesses to die in field service, or on the way to conventions, and on the way to celebrate the memorial?
3) why jesus is not your mediator?

I've got one for apologists too... it was on an excellent video on how to ask JWs questions.
1) How many does the bible say are 'born again' or 'born of God'?
2) Do you, as a JW, believe that Jesus is the Messiah or Christ?
3) Now, please read 1 John 5:1 and tell me how many it says are born of God.
And if you question whether 'born of God' means the same as 'born again' please read the NWT cross reference to 1 Peter 1:3

"The excitement is PALPABLE"
by Separation of Powers ingot caught at the supermarket (in between the martini olives and snack crackers ) with several bottles of hard liquor in my basket along with some red licorice by a sister that has known me for years.
still respects me, not knowing that i am in full fade mode, or at least not recognizably knowing.
anyway, when she sees me, her eyes get all big and she heads in my direction, nearly ramming my liquor laden cart with her vegan oriented basket.. "hey sop, how are you doing?

LOL DD! I do like your posts! I sometimes read JWN while family is around and sometimes post too, like you, they don't know what I'm typing... I could be on facebook as far as they know.. LOL but to write down some of the ridiculous things they say while they are saying it must be a bit of a buzz..

I hate it that I have to lie so much to fade...
by ILoveTTATT ini am feeling down... i feel trapped, and don't know what to do... just need to vent here i guess.... so my mom calls me today, and asks how i am doing.
"how are you doing spiritually?
" i respond... yeah, you know, the usuals... service, meeting, etc.... she tells me that she's doing a lot of service with my dad... i say, "great!"...

I'm in the same place with my mum.. my hubby knows how I feel and she does a very little but I have to hide a lot of what I feel with her. I have to pretend a lot. She worries about my 'spirituality' as she calls it. It's hard not to be able to tell her how I really feel about things but I know she wouldn't be able to handle it. I keep off JW things as much as possible. I know what she loves to talk about so I just stick to those things, if it starts veering off into JW speech, I let her have her say then try and change the subject. It works quite well a lot of the time. It's still hard though!!

As I understand it (my hubby is an attendant at this thing) it is by invite only. Tickets and assigned seats, in our area at least. If she goes without an invite she will not be allowed in. If she has an invite she can't invite someone else herself and save them a seat.
