Would you read your child's diary?
by DATA-DOG inthis is obviously a question for parents.
i have made my decision, but i am interested in your views and feelings.
if you are a young person, i would be interested in your thoughts and feelings too.

My own mum instilled in me a person's right to privacy. She never even came into my room after I turned 11 except to put things in a cupboard. I had to look after my own room. For her to snoop around would have been completely against her nature. I feel the same way, I could never have snooped in my children's rooms after they got to a certain age where privacy becomes important. Of course as others have suggested, suspecting they may be on drugs could make a difference.

Necessary family business
by stillin inthat seems almost redundant to me.
isn't all family business important and necessary?
having a meal with your grown, disfellowshipped child seems to me necessary part of having raised a decent, family-values sort of child.

TMS... that's what I'd do if anyone told me I couldn't talk to my children anymore if they were Dfed. My son also told me the same if I was Dfed.
If anyone ever dared come between me and children......

Interesting Genetic Research Published on Dog Evolution
by cantleave insome interesting work has been published this month in nature and reported in various blogs and journals.
it is work that gives more evidence to support the fact of evolution.
a team of swedish scientists led by evolutionary geneticist erik axelsson from uppsala university have identified genetic changes that could have been responsible for the transformation of wild wolves, into the ancestors of our beloved pet dogs.

well... african elephant/indian elephant = kind
llama/alpaca= kind
common dolphin/bottle nosed dolphin= kind
scottish wildcat/domestic cat= kind
Brown bear/black bear= kind
Animals that are different species but can mate and produce fertile offspring.
When it reaches the limits of it's kind ie. donkey/horse, lion/tiger although they can produce offspring, the offspring are infertile.
Animals of different kinds cannot produce any offspring at all, ie. cow/horse.

Absolutely not! It's an invasion of their privacy. Like invading their private thoughts. All the things we hate for ourselves. The 'thought police' comes to mind!
If you want to know what's in their minds/hearts then have a good relationship with them where they come to you and tell you what they are thinking /doing.

Wolves 'adapted' to live with humans after a period of time. (I saw the experiment with the foxes in a documentary, it was very interesting). Dogs 'evolved' from wolves. However a wolf and a dog can still mate and have fertile offspring. They still belong to the same 'kind'. A dog has not become a new kind.

Hi msconcerned. Don't be worried about being here. I'm an elder's wife and no one in my congregation knows I come here. I've been here for over a year now. It's an awful place to be when you start to discover 'the truth about the truth'.
If you want to visit a really factual site to start with to find out more things try jwfacts. There's so much to find out about the doctrines and wether the bible supports them or not. Also, many changing doctrines over the years. It's truly eye opening.
One thing I would say though, when you start to discover things don't go around telling anyone what you've discovered. It's a fast way to being disfellowshipped. Learn how to handle it first, then decide what you want to do.

(For our non-JW guests) How to get rid of a JW using only two words.
by cedars inif creepy contact lenses, facial piercings and people who talk insanely fast (and over-use the word "legit") are not your thing, then don't watch this video!.
however, if those things don't bother you, and you're curious about the "nuclear" way to eject jehovah's witnesses from one's doorstep, this video explains how this can be done swiftly and effectively.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrvc1yoydby.
i can actually remember at least a couple of instances where someone revealed they were gay on the doorstep to my partner and i and this didn't get rid of us immediately, but it did force us onto the back foot.

Give me good honest reasons why you will ..............
by Phizzy inattend the memorial this year..

Because I don't want elders knocking on my door asking me why I didn't. I will fade in my own way, at my own pace and I don't need to answer to anyone else the way in which I will do it.
Sorry Phizzy, but I don't like questions like that from anyone. It sounds no different to me than for an elder asking me why I didn't go.
Elder... "Give me good honest reasons why you didn't attend the memorial this year"
Me... "Mind your own business"
