Generally Speaking Do You Support The Police?

i know bad cops exist in many cities.

i know some cops who aren’t “bad” but do have an attitude.

however, i prefer to have law and order as opposed to chaos.

I used to pioneer with a friend who was black, worked as a mason, and had a used BMW 325.
We (HE) would get stopped and harassed by the police with great regularity in our lilly white territory.

I think someone already mentioned this, but this type of profiling is not completely unreasonable. This type of bias is a result of previous observations. What do we see in the media about violent crime? To me almost every time the media reports about a serious crime (robbery, shooting, assault, stabbing, etc) is seems that a large percentage of the suspects are black (at least in my area). Time and time again, we see the same types of suspects in the same types of crimes, and this plays in people’s minds. Also, what are the most dangerous areas in our country? Is is where people from India live? Well no, as you already know.

If I’m walking down the street at 1am, and I see two Asian guys walking my way, there is no uneasy feeling. Why? Well because my experience has been that I don’t see many Asians committing robberies.

To illustrate this further, if you were on a plane, and you know there was a terrorist on board, who do you look at first? The 75 year old Japanese women two rows down? Or perhaps the middle eastern guy next to her? You know the answer, and again this bias is based on your observations.

We must feel sorry for anybody in the black community that is a decent person getting harassed by law enforcement, but the profiling that is at the source of this, is not fabricated out of nothing.

No Need To Preach In Every Country Anymore

speaking to a pimo from my hometown yesterday.

he told me that in the watchtower study (10 nov 2019) regarding “the great tribulation” the elder on the platform said that there’s no need for jws to preach in every country in order to fulfil the prophecy, and therefore the org has already fulfilled that prophecy.

and that there’s nothing else left to wait for now but for “the great tribulation” to come.. gasps of delight came from the audience.. has anyone else heard this?

They have to say nonsense like this, because any critical thinker would quickly reach the conclusion that a large percentage of the population have never been exposed to the message of the Watchtowel, either because they are young, or because they live in a country where dubs have no presence or simply because no dub has spoken to them.

However, how does that square with the notion that the people that die at Armageddon will be the ones who reject the message? So if I live in Saudi Arabia and never heard of Jdubs or their message, do I get spared? If the answer if yes, then how incredibly unfair that people who by sheer luck are born in countries where they don't preach, get a free pass at paradise, compared with those living in xian countries.

Why is Life Expectancy in the USA So Low Compared to Other Countries?

i was looking at the world health org.

report and it shows the us ranks 37th in the world (tied with albania) for combined male/female life expectancy.

the top 5 were japan, switzerland, singapore, israel and spain, all around 83 years.

And why? A lot a Americans eat everything from tin, frozen, fastfood. No gourmet-culture.

Yeah you have to understand the American culture. Our country has a society that is prone to excesses of many kinds. This society is not homogenous at all, there tons of people who are enlightened and have a sense of how to live a healthy live, but equally there are tons of morons roaming the streets, who don't care about anything except living in the moment and give in to every impulse they have.

How it will end for the believers

today, many signs have been fulfilled showing that we are in the end times and much has been said in regards to armageddon, tribulation... etc but little in regards to what happens to those who believe and what transitions them to be free and escape from all that to the final destination.

this is my focus and message is based on that.in creation, there were two trees at the centre of the garden of eden and we are familiar with what happened;man ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and then we are familiar with the ramifications afterwards.

now through jesus christ, the events that will lead to the end for those who believe are in 3 stages1.knowledge will be increased (daniel 12:4)there will be a transition, knowledge will transition from that of the tree of knowledge of good and evil to also include knowledge of the tree of life and this brings with it a transformation that will bring in the second phase2.healingthe knowledge/belief/faith will bring about spiritual transformational healing, also practical knowledge i.e.

Canadians and Europeans, what do you think of your national health care ?

we have been in a battle over health care for so long here in the us regarding public, private, gov't subsidized, obama care, medicare for all, and just about every permutation of the above.. we hear the horror stories here that people wait 20 years for a check-up (ok, bit of an exaggeration), but you get the point.

one side tells us that canadians flock across the border when they are sick and need to see a doctor.

the other side says that is simply not the case.. so tell us, if you live under one of the government systems would you replace it?

I think there should be some cost to using it at the point of delivery

Yeah agree, and this is really crucial in making people have some skin in the process. Serves as an incentive to not go to the doctor for every little thing. This is the same incentive as co-pays and deductibles.

Dealing With Smelly People

i can never understand why some people simply stink.they don’t smell themselves??

i knew of certain jws that had to be counseled many times because they refused to regularly bathe, wash their hair or use deodorant.

and it’s not just witnesses.

I don't mean to pounce on our European friends, but in my experience this is especially problematic in Europe. Not to say that here in the US, you don't find smelly people, but in my travels to Europe the stench of B.O. is pretty common.

I attended my JWs Grandfathers funeral

i attended my grandfathers jw funeral the other day.

firstly i am a rabid apostate, and certainly not wt greatest fan.

that been said however, i will certainly stick up for them when they do the right thing.

I can see that happening at a rented facility, but when it comes to a 'memorial' at the Hall...

Yeah i suspect that most of the niceties seen at the reception were part of the package suggested by the mortuary. These days they offer packages such as day with TV screens, memoirs, picture boards, etc.

If the Org had their way, it would be a bland service with a speech to promote the Watchtower.

For government sponsored health care to function properly it has to regulate what medial procedures and drugs cost.

That's correct. Now if the prices were set with the goal of having the patient pay, then the market itself would regulate this. There would be not need for government to do this.

Btw, you even see a similar logic when you have an accident and go to the body shop. As soon as the shop realizes your insurance will pay, they inflate the amount of parts and costs needed to repair, as opposed to being a lot more judicious if they realize the cost will be paid by you.

My parents live in Europe. They have national healthcare. When they need to go to the doctor, they make an appointment, go and pay close to nothing. It does take time to schedule an appointment, sometimes weeks, but this assumes it's not urgent.

if it is urgent, then they can go to the emergency room, or go to an urgent care, or go to a private clinic. Even in a private clinic the prices are very low compared with the prices in the US.

The issue with health care in the US is that prices are set with the expectation that the insurance companies will pay. This is why a hip replacement costs $35,000 +. If the health care providers expected the cost to be paid by the consumer, then it would cost as much as a TV. And this is generally what happens in Europe even outside of national health care.

the so-called caliph, one of the most evil men in human history, has blown himself up along with three of his young children while being pursued by american special forces.. the ambition of isis was to expand the territory of the caliphate under the leadership of al-baghdadi to whom individual jihadists swear allegiance.

now isis have nowhere to call home and no leader.

what a pathetic bunch of losers.. they will of course appoint a new caliph and reprisal attacks will no doubt follow in western capitals by christmas but the more contemptible they appear they less likely it is that young men and women will join their delusional cause.. respect to the elite forces who hunted him down - those on the front line and the many intelligence specialists who made it possible.
