  Hi MacHislop,

  One thought on going to the elders to confess would be comparable to going to the police station to 'confess' a crime. Everyone does that, right?

  And, as you hightlight, the James vss. don't say that, but the WT has appropriated it to themselves incorrectly.

  How do they differ from a priest in a confessional? Only in that the priest isn't going to disfellowship you and is obligated to keep it confidential AND he doesn't even know who the person is!

  WERE ANIMALS MEANT TO BE VEGGYS?

  i would be very interested in any creationalists response to genesis 1:30 where the bible tells us that all animals wre originallly vegetarians.. why aren't they vegetarians now?

  what about gnats who only live on blood?.

  this to me brings up a lot of issues that can not be answered.

  Good point, Uncle Onion! About Noah not eating meat until after the flood. It's hard to explain away the bible, isn't it? I mean, by saying Gen 1:30 is a mistranslation?

  Speaking of mistranslations, did you see the thread on Bible research on 'Jesus born of a virgin'? That is quite a mistranslation on the writer of Matthew's part!

  About the animals being meant to be veggys: In order for carnivores to veggys, their digestive tracts would have to be greatly elongated in order to digest plants. It's very much shorter than herbivores'. Not to mention the rest of their anatomy such as teeth, jaws, etc.

  Are 'we' Rubbing the dubs?

  has anybody considered the possibility that the internet community may be making life worse for dubs, as a whole, rather than better?.

  i recently had a medical scare, went through testing, and scans.

  a doctor even called round my house uninvited to give me a hospital appointment!

  it made somebody ashamed, as well it should have!.

  Your point about the MS helping you in door-to-door struck a nerve with me.

  In a way, jws could be viewed like salesmen (not original, I know). But in the way that they do EVERYTHNG in order to 'make the sale.' Nothing seems genuine or heartfelt, but it's all because they are SUPPOSED to do it or they're trying to 'sell you something.'

  When I was sick, the congregation was so attentive and concerned. But they were doing their Christian duty, it seems. Because when I was well, I rarely heard from anyone. It hurt because it seemed to me the kind acts weren't done because anyone liked me, but because that's what you're SUPPOSED to do.

  The 'worldly' folks from work followed up much more afterwards.

  I know this sounds mean and like being ungrateful, but it is what it seemed to be at the time. It seems a fair assessment. I'm speaking in generalities, because there was one 'sister' who gave her all and repeatedly for a long time.

  Fraud?

  it seems that many who post on this board hold that the jw organization is a fraud, schemed mainly bu the g.b.

  members.

  but so far i have never read something as to the reasons behind the fraud.

  Sorry, but the gist of your post is very negative towards those who are "bitter." However, there are many more meanings to the word 'bitter.' Glad to know your intent, though. Most of the definitions in my Webster's are more synonomous with acrimonious, not anger.

  But I am not bitter nor hateful to the WTS. To point out what is wrong in an organization that controls the lives of 5+ million people is fair play. And, the media in the news or opinion columns do not have to prove their case in a court of law. This DB is comparable to that, not a court.
