i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.

i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

My word of adviceto you as others have said is to tell no JW you have or read this book. Be prepaired for what's called "cognitive dissonance" in all honesty i hadn't heard of that word but believe me i feel its effect daily. It's the sick feeling in the pit of your stomach that says, what if your wrong what if the JW are right? Then i have to just step thru the things i have researched about the WTS and the inconsistancy in the NWT bible and that feeling goes away .

On being born in and celebrating Birthdays

so i'm in my mid 30s and about to have a birthday next month.

was putting together a very modest wish list and just broke down crying.

i was in tears.

i know the feeling and havent told my new friends my birthday cause im still in the uncomfortable stage. Did you know its not a DF matter to have birthdays. its not in the list of naughty things in the Mind Control for Dummies book( Shepherd the flock of god).

I hope you enjoy it and everyones entitled to feel just a little special at least once a year!

BACK TO TOPIC AT HAND

I just got out my copy of mankinds search for god book and had a squize for reference to similar christian religions to JW's.NOT A MENTION!

they have not made mention of Adventism or Seventh day Adventists or the Christadelphians not even the Millerites! Just to be sure i searched the book in WT library for those organizations and no mention in MSG book. Omitted by accident? i think not!

Funny that we never studied it? that would have meant looking up info to prepare for book study and who knows what we would have found! the truth more than likely.

JW Children in Meetings

hi my first post.. for the people that grew up in the religon, do you have any memory of being spanked for not sitting still in the meeting?

i see kids acting like kids but the parents take them out and spank them for something like not sitting still.

some of my worst memories are my father taking me out for a beating with a belt or his hand.

I have got to admit i generally good a well deserved spanking for my actions. But most JW kids you just conform and become whats expected of you.Some just become what the mold of conformity makes them while others like myself just built the facade of conformity and lived a double life wherever possible.Sad!

Gayle i agree with the home schooling im was a 3rd generation JW and i agreed with my wife to home school instead of normal schooling to save the kids from all the crap we had to go thru at school.Hindsight. wrong decision and i regret it now because my children are completely brainwashed and i helped to do it unknowingly.

We were never too hardline on our kids at the meeting just had to have things to distract them with and they behaved well.

Sad but funny experience was at the cong i was attending a particually naughty boy was dragged out the back of the hall and round the corner.It was summer and the hall had no air con so a window was open just above the discipline spot and the dad had lost it and was enunciating with each smack " (name)smackyousmackaresmackasmacknaughtysmacklittlesmackboysmack" i become funnier when his wife jumped up and went out an had an argument with her husband we all could hear.
