I'd like to vote for Brother Anonymous who wrote the "Daniel book" - y'know where he wrote that the "ships of Kittim (Cyprus) was actually British Navy ships, "lying off the western coast of Europe".
Huh?? Yeah, right.
now, there are so many from which to choose...where is one to start?.
well, since i'm an old-timer, i must by default cast my vote for clayton j. woodworth, that inspired author and editor of the golden age who single-handedly warned the world about the dangers of aluminum cookware and vaccinations, among so many other things.. only once in a generation comes along a man with such inspired insights as to baffle the minds of mere ordinary humans..

it is often difficult to see past the crass commercialism that is associated with christmas.
instead of buying one another presents, some families collect the money they would have spent on one another and donate it to a genuine charity to enable them to buy a donkey, a well, support for an orphaned child, or some other essential need for villagers in a struggling third world country.

G'day Country Woman! Nice to 'see' you again!
I do so agree with this:
(there is a small insurance company here - sending each year a letter which is telling me "we have donated the amount else involved in the Christmas-cards to charity - and then I am thinking : you could have forget that letter as well and spent the money for the stamps as well for charity.)
I am not interested in the welfare gifts of others.
I think that it ain't opportune to let the world know that I (or whoever involved) is such a "good" person.
I have always thought that sending the gift card implies that the gift to charity was only given because it was a substitute for a gift to a friend or loved one. Why not give a gift to both?
Like you say, a case of "blowing your trumpet" !
The latest 'developments are reported here: http://www.findmadeleine.com/
Well, that's what 'they' claim anyway!
But here's another 'angle', it's from "TIME" magazine : http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1661684,00.html
And even more thought provoking is this, from "The Times" : http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article2422967.ece
Very strange affair.
i have just updated the graphs of jws in australia with the 2007 statistics.
there is a spike in australia similar to the increased growth this year globally.
there does not seem to be any real reason for this, so the question needs to be asked, "how legitimate the figures are this year?
That is the saddest thing about being an exJW that still believes. Many are haunted by it for their entire lives. I
Yes, how sad it is! So many 'leave' but you have to wonder if they've really left. I think to be accurate many leavers (like those who were DFed) should be referred to as lapsed for until they've taken a public stand of DA they can't really be thought of as real ex-Dubs.
the way into paradise is now known.
for 6,000 years the way has lain hidden, protected by angels with flaming swords turning every way, but now the identity of the tree of life is known to be the female cannabis plant the abundant seed of which is the most nourishing human food known to science.
see the various essays about cannabis at www.ratical.org/renewables/hempseed1.html.

over the past few days... someone who i'm no longer associated with has been out on vendetta to discredit me.
it started with a mass mail to my myspace friends, which caused nothing more than a few eyebrows to be raised.
that was the reaction of people who know me in real life.
I think everything that could be said by people here has been said.
Let's move on.
as 2004 winds down and my 4th year of association at this board winds down as well, my posting stats accurately reflect a transitition that been going on for me with respect to the jw religion, a process that is quite natural and healthy.
i'm sure that many members have had a similar experience.
here's a rundown of four years here for me: .

Rocketman, I just have to ask a few questions. Please indulge me.
I think that if you read the thread closely, you will see that Rocketman isn't posting for responses; he's simply 'reporting in', much like a Xmas card.
Rocketman's done with engaging in discussion - that's the whole point.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you too, Rocketman.
This is a great thread of yours!
what has happened to this place??!!.
i left this board a while back to reorganize and get refocused.
the vibe of jwd was changing and the forum became "unbalanced" (for lack of a better word).
it's not necessarily the forum that has changed but rather it is me
Perceptive words.
