I have just updated the graphs of JWS in Australia with the 2007 statistics.

There is a spike in Australia similar to the increased growth this year globally. There does not seem to be any real reason for this, so the question needs to be asked, "how legitimate the figures are this year?"

That being said, the 2.2% growth in Australia is less than the 2.9% popluation growth for the year, so it is not that encouraging for the Governing Body.

Interesting. If you look at the number baptised as an average per congregation - it's still a very low figure. It's still mostly kids grown up in JW families who are getting baptised.

I've also heard of several disfellowshipped in the past who have recently been reinstated. Unless they realise the "truth" is not the truth, it keeps haunting them and eventually they return. No matter how long they've been out.

That is the saddest thing about being an exJW that still believes. Many are haunted by it for their entire lives. I go out of my way to try to contact d/f JWs. That is the time it they are most likely to see through the lies, and hopefully move on from the limbo that being a believing ExJW can be.

Yes, how sad it is! So many 'leave' but you have to wonder if they've really left. I think to be accurate many leavers (like those who were DFed) should be referred to as lapsed for until they've taken a public stand of DA they can't really be thought of as real ex-Dubs.

Sadly I've also heard about a couple of kids who grew up in JW families but their parents left when they were young teenagers. When the kids get into their 20's, the brainwashing from their childhood is still there and at least one has got baptized.

On a positive note, very few new people are coming in from the territory. To a complete outsider, the JWs must seem like a really weird bunch.

Just looking at the Australian peak publishers from 1995 to 2007, says how slow the growth is.

    1995 peak 61,106

    2007 peak 63,471

    Difference 2365

If in 12 years, that is all they can get, that's not a great crowd of witnesses!

That's a 3.87% increase in 12 years. Take heart, jwfacts!! Some of those kids must be leaving.
