Those are good questions to people who are ready to wake up.
But under Watchtower indoctrination humility is entirely redefined.
Humility = agreeing with Watchtower
Pride = disagreeing with Watchtower
that is a question i want to calmly and politely ask a witness next time i interact with them.
perhaps at a cart.. "the bible says we should be humble.
may i ask, are you humble enough to admit you were wrong on things you believe?

hopefully more are on the same path.
here is the story..... this person i know was the model jw, and them and their spouse could have really moved up.
they knew i was gone and awhile ago started asking me questions.
Good work, Tony!
I'm starting to think Tony and Stephen Lett have made more impact than any ex-JW activist out there.
i know of some congregations and even circuits that have already met this fate recently.
are there any more to come for certain?.
I'm sure it will continue for a few years yet until they reach a new normal. They want to fill all Kingdom Halls to full capacity and sell the rest.
Eventually things will decline to the point where they will have to do it all over again...and in the far future, Kingdom Halls will be a very rare thing.

It is not confined to Ohio...it is happening all over the US and UK.
Congregations are being re-orged and merged. Excess Kingdom Halls are being sold off. Logically it follows that circuits also are being adjusted.
This began in my area around 2012, so it isn't anything recent, but after the RBC got replaced by the LDC, this seemed to begin in earnest.
here is an otherwise honest and intelligent fellow (former mormon) who 'woke up' and realized all his previous efforts at providing apologist material needs to be refuted--by himself!the parallel to jw thinking and our old life vs new life approach to debunking former sincerely held beliefs finds quite an amusing mirror, imho.check it out.
i think you'll see your time repaid handsomely.http://mormondiscussions.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45012.
Fascinating and educational.
This could be shared with a JW and it be considered "safe". It could be then directed to help examine their own thinking.
the life saving message of death and gloom brought to a town centre near to you!.
Easy time nowadays.
Back when I was in, we had to count time the old fashioned way: we earned it.
so, my son bought me a device that allows me to look up and watch anything i want.
i remember years ago , i enjoyed the television show hee haw on sunday evenings.
i naively thought it was wholesome family entertainment.
I used to watch this show with my grandparents as a kid. You are making me nostalgic.
And now I want to watch this series to catch all the stuff that you mentioned...as a kid, I didn't pick up on any of that. :)

i did not know before that the nation of islam had a 1914 belief that was akin to that of jws.. i thought this was interesting is all.. does anyone know whether this is a current teaching of theirs?
(googling it myself now...) but just thought i would throw it out to the knowledgeable crowd here..... -eduardo
Of course, I do know if the JW connection needs to be factchecked.
wow i came across this recently.
the branch davidians are/where a cult lead by david koresh.
they believed themselves to be living in a time when biblical prophecies of a final divine judgment were coming to pass as a prelude to christ's second coming.
The Branch Davidian group descends from the Seventh Day Adventist, who were inspired by the teachings of William Miller in regard 1844.
Other Adventists groups were also inspired from William Miller's teachings. One of these was Second Adventist Nelson Barbour, who came up with 1914. Barbour convinved Russell of his groups chronology and Russell began working for his magazine, until 1879 when Russell broke away and formed his own group.
Many of these groups have similar terminology. New Light. Present Truth. And so forth.

Wow, one learns something new everyday.
Now NOI is being influenced by Scientology and Farrakhan is all into Dianetics.
