I remember when JWs would get neuron and neutron mixed up. Or organism and orgasm.

And if they didn't break things down by ethnicity/religion, they would find JWs the least least educated of them all.

A find on Fred Franz's "system of things"
by careful ini was looking at the footnote in the 3rd ed.
of weymouth's nt (1912) on an unrelated topic and i happened on the phrase "the passing away of the present system of things" (p. 659 n. 2).
when i was in, i remember reading that the nwt "committee" (= f. franz) came up with that "system of things" rendering of the greek aion from john parkhurst's very old lexicon.

"System of things" is another example of weird, convoluted cult lingo. I didn't realize it had an earlier origin.
I hear Freddie could get fixated on certain things sometimes.

I loved Sixth Sense. But then I loved Signs. I thought the Village wasn't bad.
But Lady in the Water is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Shylaman lost me after that.

I do wonder if this is for real or not. The only JW term he used is “newly baptized”. I suppose it is conceivable that he is.
As someone pointed out: he has a beard. A new person (or someone faking) might not know that is frowned on as “untheocratic”.
Also, JWs are instructed to wait and observe, not date someone fresh from the baptismal pool. A new person or a faker might not know that. Heck, they might wait for such a person to be a Ministerial Servant before even considering them.
Also he says he was been a Christian all his life, BUT, according to the JWs, only they are true Christians and everyone else is Babylon the Great, so that doesn’t count. It’s not as though JWs are just another denomination that has a bonus of having “new insight and teaching”.
A new person or someone faking wouldn’t know that online JW dating (and JW related forums period) are heavily discouraged.

Repository for JW "experiences" with Hurricane Harvey
by sir82 init's only a matter of time of course..... jw rumor mills will start up soon, with stories of how jws were "first on the scene" as the flood waters receded..... how the red cross and/or us national guard and/or doctors without borders and/or [you name it] were marveling at just how "organized" the jws are..... how zealous jws were pulling their trolleys thru ankle-deep water to "offer comfort" to victims, by giving them - sandwiches?
bottled water?
to offer them comfort by giving them 16 page "magazines" to read in their spare time..... so as the stories start to come in, you can "deposit" those little nuggets of bs here.. once collected, we'll wrap them in a pretty bow and flush them away where other instances of pure manure go..

JWs aren't the only people who use natural disasters for PR purposes and make grandiose claims.

Three gen sex-abuse cover up in my fam; and other fun
by cyngz inhi, first time posting.i got out about 10 years ago, but only beginning to reconcile with my trauma from being raised as a witness.
i am a professional writer, and never wanted my body of work to be prefaced -- 'oh the writer who broke free from being a jw,' but i've started the last year to now write about my experiences.
another reason i have held back is many of the victims in my family are still of the faith, and i've grappled with it is not entirely my story to tell or expose.context: the sexual abuse cover-up with my family goes back to the 50's over three generations of girls in a large extended family all raised as witnesses at the hands of an uncle, and protected by the elder body, ca, da, ontario branch of bethel, ny and so on.i grew up in a culture where the girls in my family would go 'off the deep end' at ages 16/17, and kept waiting to grow up for my turn to 'go crazy', which did happen at age 17 when i had my first manic phase and left the org for about two years.

I have to say that of all things that the organization has done, threatening victims and their families with disfellowshipping has to be one of the worst.

I really don’t have any stories to compare.
One time, a relative and I were doing rural witnessing. As we talked to the householder, a goat put his head into my relative’s bookbag and started munching on a Watchtower. Of course, later, jokes about encountering “goats” in the ministry ensued.
I was working with a younger person and flipped open randomly in the Bible to some verse in Levites about cutting down trees or something. I joked with him that he should read that to the householder. Unfortunately, he took me seriously and did exactly that.
Not door to door, but still "ministry" related:
I had a “Bible study” I had with a poor man from another country…I brought another “brother” with me. During the study, a roach crawled across the kitchen table where we were having the study. The brother with me started to freak out. I attempted to brush the roach off the table with me hand, but accidently swept it right onto him. He leapt up and screamed like a girl.
Oh, another time, I was bringing this same study to the Memorial, but he had to get to work afterward and so he followed me. He often told me it took him an hour to get to work and I often wondered why. That was because he never drove over 30 miles an hour. In the country he was from, he never drove over that speed. So here he was following me at 30 miles an hour, where the speed limit was 45 and 55. We barely made it to the Memorial in time.

Meeting With Pioneers in Conjunction With Circuit Assembly
by accesible inwe are pleased to make available the outlines for your meeting with the regular pioneers, special pioneers, and field missionaries that will be held in conjunction with one of the circuit assembliesduring the 2018 service year.
please note that you will now be allowed the flexibility todetermine with which circuit assembly the meeting will be held.
your primary consideration shouldbe what is in the best interests of the majority of the pioneers, not what is most convenient for you.there are many factors to be considered, such as weather, travel distance, accommodations, and soforth.

Whatever "new light" it is, I deduce from this it is not the elimination of the "pioneer arrangement" or time counting.
