Has WT actually drafted an End of Days tract?
by schnell ini heard in years past that there was such a tract planned for the great tribulation.
my father at the time denied this, and reasoned that that would not be a loving thing for them to do, to essentially say, "told ya so!".
last year, the bunker videos had brother brown mention "a message of judgment".. has such material been drafted or is this just another bluff?.

Voting At Meetings
by Spoletta inwhy is it that the watchtower finances are cloaked in secrecy, yet when the congregation is ask to approve extra donations to the organization, the voting is in public, so everyone can see who is "loyal" to jehovah.. hmm... i think i just answered my question.

My father lost to a COBE just like that and got deleted. Of course, it didn't help that my father would not apologize. Just children on a playground behaving badly.

When The Persecution Comes
by cofty inwhen i was young everybody used to fantasise constantly about how brave we would all need to be "when the persecution comes".
we worried about what "they" would do to us and how we would never talk or betray other jws.
psychologically it was a damaging environment for children; but maybe that's another topic.. who would have thought that when it finally came it would take the form of being sued for protecting pedophiles.

Then there were the talks about not thinking about the possible torture or other hardships we might have to face. But how could you not? It's like being told, "Don't think of an elephant."

Even as a JW, I often thought voting was a joke. It was basically a rubberstamp of the decision the elders had already made.

Watchtower let off the hook by the UK charities commission
by jambon1 insay what they like, but it's a definite withdrawal of pressure.
the commission is slow, needlessly protracted and inconsiderate of the extent to which ongoing damage is being carried out.. scrap it.

It is likely very suspicious to the Charity Commission that Watchtower is fighting tooth and nail at every turn. That would tell any reasonable person that something is up.

Sisters as Ministerial Servants?
by Spoletta inmy wife has been trying to convince me that the organization is hinting at the possibility of making some older sisters ministerial servants.
she is awake to a lot of the false doctrines, but is still clinging to the hope that the org may become more progressive in the future.
anyone else pick up on this?

I could see this happening, especially the pool of available males becomes smaller and smaller. Need to carry the workload would necessitate change.
Even with the Watchtower interpretation of Scripture, I don't see why women cannot carry mikes, hand of literature, do territories, or accounts, or any number of task that do not require speaking from the platform.

How do you categorise the Society - Cult or High control religion
by UnshackleTheChains ini have often seen many categorise the organisation in different ways.
some say cult, some say high control religion.
cult or high control religion?.

Cult and high control group are synonyms. At least in how the word has evolved.

Rutherford and Elevators -- All Others Use the Stairs
by VM44 induring the olin moyle court case, some of the "jehovah's witnesses" witnesses were asked on the stand if they knew if the elevators were held at ground floor at lunchtime so that rutherford would not have to wait to use them when he returned to the building.. other people had to use the stairs; the elevators had to be kept ready for rutherford.. the jw witnesses denied knowing anything about this.
but in reading the transcript of the trial, one gets the impression that none of the jws wanted to admit anything negative about rutherford, for instance, that rutherford would give "trimmings" (verbal scolding) to individuals at lunchtime was not readily admitted by even clayton woodworth, a person who had direct experience being reprimanded by the "judge"!.
trying to get info from the witnesses appeared to be like squeezing water from a stone!

Wow...that is good reading. They would rip into people publically the way Scientology does today.

I was thinking the same thing.
There does not seem to be any indication that the Judge physically assaulted anyone, but he did seem to be emotionally abuse and just as angry. And used the organization's resources for his own personal gain.
