Sometimes I had to wonder if this person was simply toying with this forum.

Personally, the more research I did, the more I found this organization could not be the "one true religion". It is very falsifiable. As the years go by, the more and more apparent this is.

In praise of Randall Watters
by nicolaou inexjw's of a certain age will remember randy's site well.
freeminds was instrumental in waking me up along with ray franz's books.
if net soup and armageddon okies mean nothing to you you're probably under 30.. whatever caused randy to post what he did recently is something i can only guess at but it won't be what i remember him for.. randy, i wish you well and thank you for all you've done over the years .

When I first started waking up, I enjoyed reading the stories on Freeminds of former Bethelites. Of course, I didn't believe any of it at first, but eventually I began seeing the consistency from multiple people that lent credibility to what they were experiencing.

"Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
by pale.emperor innow that im not longer a jw this verse puzzles me.
being born and raised a witness, this verse confirmed to me that jesus was talking about a paradise on earth.
but now that everything the witnesses taught is 99.99% incorrect can somone explain what he was getting at here?

One would need to examine the theology of the writer of Matthew, who was writing from a Jewish/Torah-keeping viewpoint. In this view, the Messiah would rule over an earthly kingdom. The theology of other writers didn't necessarily have the exact same viewpoint...for instance, the write of John.
The official creeds of many Christian denominations do teach variations on the idea that Christ returns to the earth and brings about paradisaic conditions. Of course, the viewpoint of individuals in these denominations might differ from person to person as each is usually free to come to their own conclusions, or at least aren't excommunicated and shunned if they do.

Where the need is greater: TTATT in Spanish
by Londo111 init seems most of the us growth is in spanish-speaking territory, and of course, there is growth in the nations where spanish is the predominant language.
most sites oriented around ttatt, are english-speaking.
there seems then to be a great need for translators...for instance, imagine if there was a spanish version of www.jwfacts.com.. unfortunately, i dont speak this language.

1917 - What REALLY happened?
by neat blue dog inregarding what happened post russell in 1917, if you ask a jw, they'll say it was the fault of the ousted board members who were 'self willed'.
if you ask an ex-jw, they'll say it was a 'power grab' by rutherford.
the latest yearbook elaborates on the situation:.

It is the classic story of power struggle. The founder dies. Successors clamor to seize control. History is written by the victors.

Not one visit, 8 years in a nursing home, and not one visit!
by Raymudas Martini inmy dad{rip}, was a faithful jw since the year i was born, i'm 60, he died 2 years ago.
his last 12 years were spent in an assisted living/nursing home right in the small town where he spent the last 8 years of being an elder/pioneer.
when he went into the home, one brother would visit him regularly, but after 4 years, that friend moved away, and visitation from the locals ceased, for 8 years!!!!!!!

I noticed this with my own grandparents. A few did come to visit, but by in large, out of sight, out of mind.

There is a NEW Songbook?!
by My Name is of No Consequence ini am not talking about the one that the org came out with in 2010. i am talking about a new one that just came out.
it is completely different or is it just the 135 songs from the 2010 songbook plus the 16 that they have rolled out since then?
my head is spinning!.

It is unusual because the brown songbook seemed to be around for decades.
I wonder if this is the reason why the new song book was replaced:

That and David Splane fancies himself a maestro.

My opinion: they are too stressed and busy and there are bigger fish to fry.

Is the year 2020 the new prediction for Armageddon?
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini have had a conversation this evening with a jw friend i have known since childhood.
he is of the opinion that armageddon will have come and gone within the next 5 years.
are the jws now pinpointing 2020 as the supposed year?
-
Londo111
In the mind of many JWs, it's always sometime in the next five years. This five years perpetually rolls forward and 40 years passes without them remembering this.
