Why do you call yourselves "apostates?"
by Marbles inwell let me clarify the question.
i know you call yourselves apostates because the bible defines people who leave their previously held beliefs as apostates.
my question means, if the bible is not true (and i don't think it is) then there is no such thing as an apostate.i have never been a jw, only a bible student with them.

"Somebody" needs to do "Something!"
by Terry init's always unjustifiable for a country to attack another country without having first been attacked itself.. the nuremberg trials at the end of wwii made this clear.. more vividly too: following orders as a patriotic duty is never secondary to the pangs of your personal conscience.. .
worst of all, hypocrisy destroys credibility when you.
criticize other countries for doing what you have done.. .

I would just ask that if you support the war efforts of the nation you are a citizen of to take your adult children and your self down to your local armed forces recruiter to enlist. I would also ask that you ask your government to pass a law that makes it mandatory that elected government officials must enlist their children into the armed forces.
The U.S. hasn't gone to war since the draft ended. The U.S. military has gone to war. There's a big difference.

Watchtower says you can be Disfellowshiped for being Fat!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1974 p.167 "by disobediently over indulging in food and making a glutton of himself he shows no love for jehovah..in the presents of others does he ignore their needs and selfishly take more then his fair share?
is he grossly overweight gorging himself?
does he feel uncomfortable even getting sick...this person has no place in the congregation of god...they will not inherit gods kingdom.".

Wow! Thanks for sharing this. I always wondered why people were disfellowshipped for smoking, but not for eating fast food or for being overweight. The same principle applies to both.
I would imagine the real reason is because many elders I knew were definitely heavy eaters.
Side Note - When I was about 10 I saw a friend in the congregation cry after a meeting. He had to sit through the meeting with his mom while it was announced that his dad was disfellowshipped. His dad was DFed for smoking. That was rough.

It is sad. The Russian military action in Ukraine is not supported by many Russians. This is mostly, if not all, Putin.
In addition, Russian is not the U.S. or the U.K. or the E.U. Russian is an autocratic nation. Putin is the dictator that runs the country. Russian nationals can protest, but the risk imprisonment or worse. It is hard for Russian citizens to conduct an armed revolt as firearms are strictly regulated and any type of firearm that might be effective in battle is prohibited. Even possessing 1 bullet for a rifle sends you to prison.

When you read the Gospels (Matthew & Mark) it seems clear that Jesus didn't come to start a new religion or be worshipped. Jesus came to enlighten people so they could live free from fear. It was only after his death that people defied him and therefor undid his work.

some girls in his class took this as a challenge and tried to persuade him to have sex with them.
I would imagine the script really looked something like this...
Olaf's parents: Olaf, when was the last time you intentionally brought attention to yourself at school so you could give a Witness to your classmates?
Olaf: I will do it today!
Scene - Olaf is in class with fellow students and teacher. Students and teacher are paying no attention to Olaf as he has intentionally rejected any attempts by fellow students to engage in conversation.
Olaf: I have never had sex and none of you can make me no matter how hard you try!!!
Girl Student: You mean you would turn down sex if it were freely offered to you, Olaf?
Olaf: Get away from me you Jezebel!
Later that day at the home of Olaf.
Scene - Olaf is having dinner with his parents.
Olaf: Mom. Dad. Today I gave a fine Witness. A girl tried to tempt me with an offer of sex, but I let the class know that I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I won't commit fornication.
Parents: Well done, Olaf!

A few years ago we passed a minor accident, (a car that hit a phone pole with minimal damage) and one of the JWs in my car says 'We're in the last days, you're gonna be seeing more accidents like that'. So it doesn't take much, literally anything will do.
This right here! This just how out of synch JWs can be.

JWs don’t use the apocryphal, yet source them
by Anony Mous inso a quick little note about a few things that i recently learned.
if you ever had the yellow book of bible stories, there was the story of enoch, also repeated in other watchtower publications, about the angels fathering giants and being a menace on earth.
now if you look at the nicean bible, which is the wtbts selection of the bible, it mentions enoch twice and only has a very brief passage about nephilim and ben elohim.

A Protestant Bible is a Christian Bible whose translation or revision was produced by Protestants. Such Bibles comprise 39 books of the Old Testament (according to the Hebrew Bible canon, known especially to non-Protestants as the protocanonical books) and 27 books of the New Testament for a total of 66 books.[1] Some Protestants use Bibles which also include 14 additional books in a section known as the Apocrypha (though these are not considered canonical) bringing the total to 80 books.[2][3] This is often contrasted with the 73 books of the Catholic Bible, which includes seven deuterocanonical books as a part of the Old Testament.[4] The division between protocanonical and deuterocanonical books is not accepted by all Protestants who simply view books as being canonical or not and therefore classify books found in the deuterocanon, along with other books, as part of the Apocrypha.[5]
The contents page in the King James Bible, 1769 edition, listing "The Books of the Old Testament", "The Books called Apocrypha", and "The Books of the New Testament".
It was in Luther's Bible of 1534 that the Apocrypha was first published as a separate intertestamental section.[6] To this date, the Apocrypha is "included in the lectionaries of Anglican and Lutheran Churches."[7] The practice of including only the Old and New Testament books within printed bibles was standardized among many English-speaking Protestants following a 1825 decision by the British and Foreign Bible Society.[8] Today, "English Bibles with the Apocrypha are becoming more popular again" and they may be printed as intertestamental books.[9] In contrast, Evangelicals vary among themselves in their attitude to and interest in the Apocrypha but agree in the view that it is non-canonical.[10]I have often posted on this website that Martin Luther single-handedly brought the downfall of the Christian faith.
"18.This is my solemn attestation to all who hear the prophecies in this book: if anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him every plague mentioned in the book; 19.if anyone cuts anything out of the prophecies in this book, God will cut off his share of the tree of life and of the holy city, which are described in the book." - Rvelation 22:18-19
