I've met a lot of elders who were greedy and drunks,
So does that mean loyal JW should separate these men from the congregation ?
Amen!
does someone have a list of the scriptures the jw's use to justify shunning and disfellowshipping?
i know there are only a few..

The Apostle Paul made this practice. Jesus never taught this. As such, there's the list. "Apostates" might be called "revilers" by Witnesses, but to truly be one depends on whether the criticism is abusive or not. To simply disagree is not reviling.

I like how the OP shows that the new JW witnessing method is to simply have people go to JW.org. That's it. Remember when JWs prided themselves on being teachers of Bible truth?
the latest instructions from the kingdom hall trust here in the u.k are very revealing, and current j.w elders need to beware !
i will get to that in a minute.
maybe in the usa and other countries too ?.
I just remember when the Watchtower adopted the voluntary donation format for literature. When Witnesses were put on the honor system for donating, especially for higher dollar items, it always seemed the cost of literature was never covered. This lead to all the changes that got us to where we are today - little to no actually printed items being made and the rise of JW.org.
So, I am just wondering if the KHT arrangement will do the same for covering operating costs of Kingdom Halls. Between this and a lack of meetings due to COVID-19, I would like to know the economic impact on the Watchtower organization.

They can't have it both ways. If all Kingdom Halls now become property of the KHT then the KHT is responsible for both making and the enforcing of child protection policies. For me, they bigger question is, what happens when congregation A starts contributing less than congregation B?
so the jw's are no longer goind d2d but instead are writing letters- my question is what return address are they putting on the letters?
their own or the kh?
the kh's in our area have no mailbox and therefore no mail can be delivered or returned to a kh.. thanks in advance!.
Kingdom Hall. Got one in the mail.
what did you do with your jw literature when you left?
kept it, sold it or dumped it?
I dumped mine, but I wonder if that was wise. There seems to be an attempt by the Watchtower to erase their past. Perhaps having some of their most embarrassing moments in print might prove useful. Then again, maybe not. PIMOs on this site have shared stories of their PIMI spouses refusing to look at older publications to the point of acting like its apostate propaganda.
anyone else get a food box delivered by local congregation to your door - allegedly by the society?
weird.
i looked online and found a couple of youtube channels saying the society is taking food from food banks and giving it only to their congregations.
all my jw life i was reminded constantly about the importance of not bringing reproach on jehovah's name.
decisions on whether or not to disfellowship an individual often turned, not on the seriousness of the sin, but on whether the incident was public knowledge and had resulted in bad publicity for the congregation.
i recall a middle-aged lady being reported to the elders for shoplifting a sweet worth less than £1- and the elders' insistence that a judicial committee must be formed because the store manager and staff knew that she was a jw (i successfully argued that all she needed was support for her dreadful family life, but that's another story).
Excellent post Cofty!
Years ago a dear friend of mine had a mental breakdown of sorts and committed a crime. It was covered by the local news. While in jail awaiting trial he was told that his body of elders conducted a judicial committee and decided to disfellowship him. That's right! He was never contacted ahead of time. Those elders asked his father, an elder in another congregation, deliver the news to him. He was told they had no choice as so many people knew what he did.
Now the Watchtower neither confirms nor denies claims of child abuse in their organization. They just protect the corporate assets from reparations.
many of us have watched the gb #4 update.
most of us jumped for joy when they basically said that there will be no meeting in person for a long time to come.. one aspect we overlooked was how hard they hit home the "love of neighbor".
how this "love" is what makes a true christian and as a result our love for our neighbors will motivate us to stay at home.. well now they released a letter that is instructing all kh's to view this video during their local needs part.
I guess you no longer have to feign illness to miss a meeting. You can just claim your internet went out, which is probably more believable now that everyone is sheltering in place and sucking up bandwidth on their favorite streaming service. My internet goes out just about every time it rains and sometimes just because.
