Removing Historic Monuments and Statues - Does the Term "Historical" Make it Right or Wrong?
by RubaDub inafter further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.
you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.
would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

So, why now does Nancy call for their removal? Why not when Barack Obama was president and the Democrats also ran the House and the Senate? The answer is simple: Politics.
Nancy doesn't care. Nancy is just being a politician.
We have a nation obsessed with victim culture and driven by emotions rather than reason. Why are there statutes erected to honor the losers? Every Confederate hero is a traitor and domestic terrorist of the United States? Simple - victim culture. The South looked upon themselves as victims.

Here are just some random thoughts -
I am me. I didn't get to choose to be me. I didn't get to choose my parents and therefore I didn't get to choose:
- My ethnic background
- My place of birth or national origin
- My native language or culture
Most would say I am white. Since I haven't been given a choice by those who play the game because those who do insist I play, I am not white - I am Germanic American. The same group who, during WWII, had over 11,000 of their own imprisoned in American internment camps. Not as much as the 66,000 Japanese Americans, but more than the 3,000 Italian Americans.
Those who play the game insist I have privilege because I am Germanic American meaning I do not have as much melanin as those deemed as non-white or "persons of color". Since I have been denied access to higher levels of melanin genetically I somehow automatically have an easier life. I somehow do not have to worry about police brutality, getting a job, getting an education, etc.
I cannot change my skin color, so I assume this means my alleged privilege follows me wherever I go...or does it?
If I were to move to Beijing, China would my white privilege follow me? In a nation of over a billion Chinese ethnic decent, most definitely not. Just ask those of African decent living in China...
So, my alleged privilege is not because of my lack of melanin. My alleged privilege is due to the fact that I live in a part of the Earth where 76.5% of the other people who live here also have a melanin deficiency. 13.5% of the U.S. population have the most melanin and, as such, "feel" they are treated worse than the majority.
I wonder what my privilege would look like in a part of the world where only 7.8% of the population has my same melanin deficency?

Often this came in the form of war, which usually ended in land being seized and slaves taken by the victors. Often these wars were between different cultures and people of different ethnic backgrounds. I really don't know of a single ethnic group who didn't get involve in this. In fact, slavery is alive today:
All forms of bigotry are ethically wrong. That includes racial or ethnic bigotry. However, I cannot think of any place on the Earth that people can live where in spite of racism (which is everywhere) you can live a great life other than the United States of America. If things are so rotten in the US why are so many people literally risking their lives to get here?
The main problem is we have a culture of victimhood. Being a victim is very empowering and that becomes intoxicating. Martin Luther King Jr spent his life trying to get all people, from all backgrounds, to work together to make our nation great. Today, we have weak leaders who just say "You're wrong and privileged. You fix it!"
The reason Black Lives Matter will fail is because it draws a line in the sand and excludes themselves from the problem solving. We live in a time that white people are suffering en mass, too. Not because they are white, but suffer the same. They face police brutality, but not because they are white. The face poverty, but not because they are white. They face being denied access to decent education, but not because they are white.

Aren`t These Two Scriptures At Odds With Each Other ?
by smiddy3 inromans 13 ,1-7 contrast with 2 cor.4 : 3-6 ,on the one hand the faithful are to be obedient to the superior authorities ,worldly government ,law enforcement ,etc, as its gods arrangement and to go against it is to go against god ?.
then 2 cor .4 : 3-6 states that the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one satan the devil and if you are obedient to that you are supporting satan`s system of things and going against gods arrangement ?.
what sort of mental gymnastics do you need to acquire to accept both of these scriptures and keep your sanity ?.

"Mental gymnastics" is probably the best descriptive phrase ever for such things or all things Biblical.
The only real Jesus based idea is "Give back Caesar's things to Caesar and God's things to God." everything else is totally man made.

JW.ORG delivering food to JWs in California
by NikL inso a couple of weeks ago my wife (who is an active jw) got a delivery of apples, oranges, potatoes, carrots and onions.. the story i heard was that the "branch bought a bunch of food that would go to waste and was delivering it".. i am in california and a friend of mine in another cong.
50 or so miles away had the same thing happen.. a few days ago we got another delivery and as a matter of fact my wife was asked if she could "help jehovah with delivering his gifts".
unfortunately she is in poor health and unable to so so.. anyway, the story seems fabricated to me and i am wondering what is really going on.. does anybody have any ideas?

The story here is that Jehovah's Witness put in print through their Watchtower publications that donating to charity shows a lack of faith in God to provide. In fact, for any Jehovah's Witness that donates to any charity is seen as taking a stand against God's kingdom being the sole solution to mankind's problems. Then, the Watchtower applies for a government grant that supplies food to charities that feed the poor. In turn, the food acquired from the government grant is distributed only to members of their religion whether they need it or not.
This program is intended to assist families struggling due to COVID-19. Any food distributed to religious organizations is done so with the understanding that the religious organization apply regularly runs a charity that feeds the poor.

When you see signs and chants of "Defund the Police" at these protests the media will try to tell you "what they actually mean." Instead, go directly to the source:
MPD150 is an organization whose mission statement is to abolish all law enforcement from the City of Minneapolis. MPD150's core belief is that law enforcement's role in American society is to protect the rich and white from the poor and ethnic minorities. MPD150 states that all crime is a result of poverty and a lack of social services. MPD150 wants to replace policing with 100% social services.
In the MPD150 FAQ section a question is presented "What happens if someone commits an armed robbery?" MPD150 answers first by stating that if everyone has a job no one will commit crime. Then they concede and say, "Well, sure. I guess someone could still hold up the US Bank in downtown Minneapolis. So I guess why could have a couple of public servants trained to handle those situations."
This isn't a joke. They are real as a heart attack.

After doing some additional thinking and reading of other's views on this topic I have started seeing things this way -
Those who are at the forefront of demanding police reform will never be satisfied. If tomorrow all police agencies in the U.S. implement the changes and policies being demanded it won't be enough. It will only be enough when there is no law enforcement.
The Utopian dream of a nation in which no criminal dies as a result of laws being enforced will also come in my Utopian dream where suspected criminals -
- Don't run from the police when the police lawfully attempt to arrest them.
- Don't evade the police in a vehicle resulting in a high speed pursuit.
- Don't resist arrest when the police are lawfully attempting to arrest them.
- Don't assault the police in an attempt to avoid arrest.
- Don't Murder police in an attempt to avoid arrest.
With freedom comes responsibility. The U.S. is a free nation. The citizens of a free nation police themselves. The U.S. is a constitutional republic and follows the rule of law. Laws are only pretty words written on paper if they are not enforced.
Citizens in a free nation do not have a right to say, "I will not be arrested for my allegations of criminal activity. I will not stand trial by a jury of my peers. I will not accept their judgment or any punishment. I will not be held accountable for my actions. Keep your due process."
I hope and pray the City Council of Minneapolis does abolish its police department. I have already come up with a title for a movie based on what will transpire. I call it "Black Hawk Down 2 - Minneapolis-Mogadishu".
