How Do You Think Election Votes Should Be Counted?
by minimus indo you think voters should be required to prove that they are legitimate?.
-
truth_b_known
In the United States the voting system actually works quite well. If anything needs to be changed it is the campaign contribution laws. Elected officials spend way too much time raising money for re-election campaigns and no where near enough time listening to their constituents.

Jehovah`s Credentials Fail or Pass
by smiddy3 injudging by jehovah gods past dealings with the israelite / jews , i wonder why anybody can take seriously anything that he has promised for the future .. or is it what humans want to believe he has in store for them ?.
during jehovah`s dealings with the israelites they had a leprosy colony in their midst .he didn`t do anything about that .. they had wars that he instigated and supported and people died on both sides of the wars.
israelites as well as the enemy.. he accepted slavery ,did nothing about it .

Smiddy3:
You have made a valid point. I also disagree with the whole concept of apologetics which is nothing more than mental gymnastics based on speculation and circular deduction. However, it also brings to light a common thread of reasoning seen. That common thread is the atheist view of god or gods being intergalactic butlers to the human race.
The hypothesis is that, if there is an all-powerful, conscious entity who created mankind it is this entity's moral duty to make sure man has -
- Food
- Water
- Clothing
- Housing
- Unlimited medical care
- Prevents all death other than death from old age (and even that should be addressed eventually)
“God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
In the 1800s Nietzsche saw the rise of rationalism and naturalism. He new it would be the end of religion in the West. He predicated that the end result would be one of two pathologies - nihilism and totalitarian authoritarian utopias. In other words, rationalism has replaced the supernatural intergalactic butler with the national butler, government.

Men will be -
- Lacking affection
- Disobedient to parents
- Disorderly
- Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God
When hasn't the human race been like that? The whole history of Israel in the Bible can check everyone of those boxes. Literally, from the book of Genesis on that's how people have been.

I wouldn't say the Bible is just a silly story. Whether the events took place or not does not have any bearing on the message. I would say much of the Bible is story. Some happened, but probably not as described in scripture.
In line with the OP I would have to say that if the scripture reads the iron chariots could not be defeated, then they could not be defeated. Any answer to as why would also have to come from scripture or some other writings otherwise it is just mere speculation.
Here is a better question to ask - What evidence is their that any of this actually took place? Western culture has cursed itself by trying to force history into the confines of the Bible.

At the core of Watchtower teachings is that we live in a "wicked, old system of things" and true happiness can only be found in the "New World". All bad news is accepted with a smile and no verification because it furthers the belief that Armageddon is close. Beliefs look for facts that fit to mold reality around it.
I remember several years ago 2 JWs, an older couple, came to my door. They asked what I did for work. I stated I was a police officer. They replied, "Well, then you would agree that the world is becoming worse." I replied back "No. Statistically crime is going down. This are actually getting better." The couple became speechless.

Looking Back Were There Any “Apostates” In Your Congregation?
by minimus ini remember knowing some jws that expressed their own personal viewpoints regarding what a scripture meant that was at odds with society teachings.
in the 60 and 70’s, that was pretty much tolerated until the great purge in 1979 and 1980. as a matter of fact, it wasn’t unusual for witnesses to get together and discuss personal questions and viewpoints they might have.
it wasn’t unusual to send letters to the society asking what was considered the right or wrong view.

Two that I know of -
There was an elder a lot looked up to. He was a great person and had a storybook family; loving wife and 2 kids. As the story goes, his wife met an apostate and woke up pretty quick. The story continues that the elder and his wife got divorced because he couldn't take her constant apostate attacks. Within a couple of months following all that he was "free to remarry" and did.
The second is not so cut and dry. My father was disfellowshipped. He had been sharing things he had learned in studying the Bible. Eventually he was called to a judicial meeting and asked if he believed he was part of the Faith & Discreet Slave. He answer in the positive (keep in mind this was about 30 years ago) as he professed to be one of the Annointed. He was never told why he was disfellowshipped, but a friend of mine was at a get together where one or more of the elders on that judicial committee was present. My friend overheard one of the elders state that they just had to disfellowship someone for apostasy. The funny thing was the congregation presiding overseer looked into it about a year later and told those elders they needed to reinstate my father.

The Bible speaks of the "Unforgivable Sin" ? What is it ?
by smiddy3 indo any jehovah`s witnesses or ex jehovah`s witnesses even know what that sin is ?.
why is such a statement in the bible if its not identified what that sin is ?.
were the authors of the book just playing with peoples heads ?
-
truth_b_known
BelisemDeBelimakom has gotten the closest correct answer. Jesus was performing miracles by means of the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees were going around stating Jesus' miracles were done by means of an "unclean spirit". That sin is unforgivable according to Jesus' words.

Two Quotes Jehovah’s Witnesses in Particular Need to Consider
by PhilosophicalLogic in“he who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that.
his reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
but if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion... nor is it enough that he should hear the opinions of adversaries from his own teachers, presented as they state them, and accompanied by what they offer as refutations.

Truth does not ask to be believed. Truth asks to be tested.
As previous posters have already stated so well, I am sure if you ask one of Jehovah's Witnesses "To whom should I ask my questions about Jehovah's Witnesses" they would answer "From one of Jehovah's Witnesses." To which you could in turn ask "Why then should I ask Jehovah's Witnesses questions about other religions?"

According to an old Hindu legend, there was a time when all human beings were gods, but they abused their divinity. So, Brahma, the chief god, decided to take the divinity away from them and hide it somewhere they could never find it.
Brahma called a council of the gods to help him decide where to hide the divinity. “Let’s bury it deep in the earth,” said the gods. But Brahma answered, “Humans will dig into the earth and find it.” Some gods suggested, “Let’s sink it in the deepest ocean.” But Brahma said, “No, Human will learn to dive into the ocean and will find it.” Then some gods suggested, “Let’s take it to the top of the highest mountain and hide it there.” Brahma replied, “Human will eventually climb every mountain and take up their divinity.” Then all the gods gave up and said, “We do not know where to hide it, because it seems that there is no place on earth or ocean that human beings will not eventually reach.”
Brahma thought for a long time said, “We will hide their divinity deep into the center of their own being, Humans will search for it here and there but they wont look for the divinity inside their true selves”
All the gods agreed that this was the perfect hiding place, and the deed was done. And since then, humans have been going up and down the earth, digging, diving, climbing, and exploring, searching for something, which already lies within themselves.
“Divinity lies within us all”
