the main article is entitled “the four horsemen of revelation.”.
looks like the pale rider has arrived..... .
conservative christians like the jehovah's witnesses often claim that, like the new testament, the old testament forbids all sexual relations outside marriage, including relations between unmarried people.
that is not quite true.
to see that patriarchal and israelite culture adhered to a different standard, we must first understand just how the old testament treats marriage, sexuality and related items.. the old testament view of women as property.
JW’s teach moralism from the Old Testament that has nothing to do with Christ.
Real Christians teach that the entire Old Testament is pointing to Christ and man’s need for a savior. Christians distinguish between “moralism” and “morality.” One is anti-gospel, the other is a byproduct of the gospel.
i don't think i shared this story yet, it's strange and although i did a little detective work trying to figure out who said what and when i never found out much, big surprise, jehovah's witnesses love their secrets as we all know... but i thought other posters might find this interesting both in and of itself, because of what an elder told me one sunday back in 2011, and because of what it could imply as to high-ranking jehovah's witnesses prophesying the date of armageddon.
specific dates went out the window in 1975, although governing body helper ken flodin hinted at 2040 in a talk uploaded to jw.org a couple years back, and the governing body hinted at 2034 in a watchtower back in the 90s.
but it might be, just might, that more specific date-setting still goes on behind closed doors in certain circuits.... so after i went to "meetings" and talked to witnesses for a couple years at a rural congregation in the eastern united states an elder pulled me aside one service into the vestibule at the hall, in other words, into a private area where no one would overhear us.
if Armageddon got close enough Jehovah might tell Jesus the exact date
this is such an important issue, more and more people are succumbing to what must be some viral outbreak wreaking havoc in the world.. i'm talking about unnecessary punctuation.. it's easy to become infected.
you want to write something and add some emphasis so you add an exclamation mark to make it "important!
" but dang, it's not important enough is it??
My Pet Peeve Is Those People On The Internet Who Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word In Every Sentence They Write.
did jesus ever utter the name jehovah?.
and if he didn't what are the implications?
nwt answers don't count but feel free to use the kingdom interlinear.
Half banana: Actually there is no record of Jesus having ever uttered a word.
All we have are words and sentences attributed to him a generation after he was supposed to have lived. There are no eye witnesses from Roman documents of the Bible's account of a miracle worker who could bring back the dead, let alone any verbatim records of his speech.
So by dwelling on what this fictional character said, this speculates on an existing myth and worst still it reinforces a credibility in the minds of those fixated by Christianity. After all if a person is quoted he must have lived?
Do you believe Socrates and Plato existed? If you do, what evidence supports your belief?
Most historians believe Jesus of Nazareth existed as a historical figure, whether or not he became mythicized over time. The Christ myth theory is a fringe theory which deviates from the mainstream historical view.
There is more evidence to support that Jesus existed as a historical figure than many of the other historical figures you probably accept as having really existed. Unless you're one of those people who believe the moon landing was fake.
i have never seen this country so divided.
something is going to give.
they is such a lack of recognition for the law.
This is clearly a sign that we are in the last days
what kind of questions would you use to get a child'scritical thinking skills going from a young age with regards to the bible/god/jesus/anything to do with the religion??.
my most hated answer jws gave to people when they said you can't see god so how do you know he exists was "well you can't see electricity or gravity but you know they exist".
sorry but that doesn't prove god exists.
If the animals were created to live in peace and the lion will eat straw just like the bull, why do the big predators have teeth for ripping and the instinct to hunt and chase their prey?
An Awake from the 1960's had the answer. It says animals such as lions had sharp teeth and claws to rip open fruits that have tough skins, such as pineapples.
LOL
i happen to be cruising around the net and stumbled upon this question on a different forum.
how do jw's answer jesus words in john 6:54 today?.
"whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and i will raise them up at the last day.
"Jesus said to them, 'Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.'" (John 6:53-58)
Yet the JWs make a ritualistic ceremony of publicly rejecting Jesus.
a circuit overseer or a member of the gibbering body is giving a talk about demonism and he says the following, "there was an elder in a congregation in california who let his 8-year-old daughter watch disney movies that involved witches, gremlins, magic, and sorcery.
many may feel that they are harmless movies and are just entertainment.
well, the 8-year-old daughter actually brought a blue smurf doll to the public talk and watchtower study.
True story... there's even a video reenactment of the event at 4:58:
we’ve all heard them all our life.
my two biggest stupidest ones i think are, “ we can really tell the end is almost here with the way people drive on the highway.” and a girl who said she wants to hurry up and marry her boyfriend because she’s scared if the end comes before their married, she’ll have to wait 1000 years to marry him.
oh and also a poor old lady saying that she hopes jehovah wipes away the memory of her disfellowshipped sons that he will have to destroy.
"Sharks, crocodiles, lions, and wolves will all eat straw in the new system."
Then why do they all have sharp teeth, claws, etc.?
"The Awake says they were originally designed to help them eat tough fruits and vegetables. For example, a lion could use its claws and teeth to rip open a pineapple."
