A letter from my Mom
by ateograciasadios infriends,.
i have seen several posts like the following, and never thought i would have to write one myself, but here we go: my dear mom is forcing me to make a move... one that i have been really avoiding as much as possible.
she wrote me an email today, and here i am giving you an idea of its contents.

As stated above by 'whathappened': be true to yourself. If you are not that, you will never be anything but unture to everyone else. If mom and others cannot accept that, it is their problem, not yours. Your love for your mom is shown thru your actions. Perhaps remind her that actions speak louder than words. All the best to you.

Shared some TTATT with my wife and now she wants us to have a weekly personal bible study
by suavojr inhere is the situation.... a young 19 year old in our congo had a fallout with his parents because of all the restrictions and jw dogma and moved out of the house last wednesday.. to make the story short, the parents went running to the elders and what was the comfort?.
coe said: i saw that coming!
your son never reached out to get baptized.. then the other elder said: don't worry, you still have one left that will be saved.

wow....what an opportunity. Try not to overwhelm your wife. I wish mine would be so open. Anyway, take a look at Mt 28:19 regarding Jesus instructions on baptism; "in the name of the Father, the Son, and the holy spirit (ghost)". Ask her if she has ever heard those words at a meeting, let alone a baprism talk. She might object that the questions asked baptismal candidates reflect that thought when they are asked "do you acknowledge that you are now recognized as one of J.W.'s?"......but a gentle reminder of the warnings in the Bible not to add to--or take away from---it's words or instructions might crack the door open for more critical thinking.
Best of luck. Please keep us posted.

yes, so I hear Guy passed away. I knew him when he lived on Oahu for quite a few years back in the late '60s early '70s. Not a whole lot to say about him. He was a carpenter when I knew him. Was married to a caucasion woman if I remember correctly, probably the Eva Mitchell mentioned above. He gave a Memorial talk on Maui a couple of years ago....I did not hear it but reports I got were that it was a very poor presentation. Why don't these guys know when to call it quits? Makes me wonder if he died knowing all the facts about what the truth really is about 'the truth'.....no matter now. Sympathies and condolences to his family.

I've never seen this scripture quoted in the WT
by UnConfused in1 cor 10:27. if an unbeliever invites you and you want to go, eat whatever is set before you, making no inquiry on account of your conscience.. .
.
i suppose that would mean it's ok to go eat with unbelievers?.
-
mauiboy
In context it looks like this to me : eat anything you want ((--blood included?--)), refrain only if you know it will bother someone else's coscience. So I suppose if you're eating with an unbeliever, Christian conscience is a non-issue.

Interesting fact in the NNWT
by piztjw ini was perusing the index of bible words in the back of the nnwt and found it interesting that the name jesus has only one scripture listed.
the title christ has five.
the name satan has twelve.

I grabbed the NWT that was closest to me (1984 revised) and counted 8 references to Jesus and 12 to Christ.......more evidence of the dumbing down of the rank and file....reduce their cross reference capabilities and stuuf their heads full of J-dub garbage.

As a JW, What statements made you "stop thinking?"
by Faithful Witness inthought-stopping platitudes, like "we are in the last days!
"jehovah's witnesses are the only ones with the truth...".
what statements or claims did you use, or hear, that made you feel comforted by the fact that you were part of jehovah's organization?.
-
mauiboy
ANYTHING that my mind tried to convince my heart was truth, when my heart totally rejected it was evidence I had stopped thinking... All of everything mentioned above. Finally it was too much to bear and the heart said: "OK, brain, either we get the hell out of this organization alive, or end living". 7 years ago and will not stomach the idea of returning.

A Dummy's Guide to the 'This generation' doctrine
by Honesty ina jehovah's witness explains the watchtower society's 'this generation' doctrine..... .
http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness/t3heh0tafiuk6f9t3.
what do you think about his explanation?.
-
mauiboy
Extrapolate the reasoning here and one could claim Adam and Eve are of the same generation as we are. Never before has such pretzel logic been presented for supposed 'proof'of anything. Not to mention NO Biblical basis......and don't even try to bring up that lonely scripture in Exodus that can be shredded in a flash if presented as 'proof' of over-lapping generations. All a big, bad G.B. joke.

I think the Malaysia airline flight was hijacked by.....who knows?....Terrorists, human trafficers, drug smugglers, apostates, GB wannabe's?.....then flown fast and under-the-radar to a clandestine destination in a small country in a land and time far away. When the hi jackers feel the time is right ---and have hidden their hostages here, there, and everywhere, ---a statement claiming responsiblity will be made, and ransom of some sort will be demanded.
