Serving Jehovah - by Law or by Love?
by TimothyT ini have started reading in search of christian freedom by franz.
the idea of searching for christian freedom is very important to me, and i already know that this book is going to be very helpful in this regard.
on pages 12 and 13, i read something which has been on my mind recently regarding the removal of the mosaic law and its replacement with love through jesus christ.

Hi Becky!:) Yes, it is difficult to get the cult mind-set out of your head. My favorite book on the topic is the Steve Hassan book on Cult Mind-Control.
I have been in and out for a long time, but officially out since April. I went to one meeting after the Memorial. I received Jesus in July.
I also ask Jesus for his help. I am many times too in the JW mind-set to pray to the Father. That is why He provided His Son for us. To make it simple for us. Really, it is simple, because once that first step is taken, we are provided with a Helper and Teacher. http://www.bible.ca/ntx-praying-to-jesus.htm
1 John 5:1 If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, that he is God's Son and your savior, then you are a child of God. 1 John 2:27 and you need no one to teach you, because the anointing that is in you.
JOHN 14:16-18 NKJ
16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever,
17 "even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.JOHN 16:7 NKJ
7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.JOHN 15:26 NKJ
26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.Oh, and please get a Bible that is easy to understand. I love the Living Bible to start out with. The NWT is not only hard to understand, but leaves things out and adds things. Instead of saying "Christ in me" which is what the original Greek says, and their own Interlinear says, they have added 3 more words. It makes me so angry!

Does the Issue of Universal Sovereignty make sense to you as an explanation for evil?
by gubberningbody init used to for me, and now it doesn't.. i'm not sure how i was able to accept that argument now that i don't, but perhaps it was connected with my increasing compassion for people and their personal suffering as i've grown older.. now it seems like a sick excuse.
more like a bar-bet with satan and all of creation suffers.. i read paul's words and he has no rejoiner except to say in effect "sucks to be a vessel of wrath...glad i'm not one, but who are you to complain anyway, huh?
who's bigger, smarter and more powerful than you, you, you complaining vessel of wrath, you.

Sort of, I guess... but not really... I mean, why do little babies suffer, especially if no one was watching? What does that prove? Anyway... I think that when the usual Christian explanations make no sense, the Orthodox church usually has something good to say, so I am putting these links on here for those who are like-minded.

Immediate accidental sex
by rebel8 inthere was a thread here some time ago with a title something like this.
it was about the wts' silly teachings about chaperones needing to be present every single moment to prevent couples from having sex, as though sex is something that happens instantly and accidentally.. i saw this today and thought of that thread.here for more.. *on 2nd thought....i am not sure the pics would meet posting guidelines...so click the above link.
it's a few comic strips depicting silly scenes in which "immediate accidental sex" happened.

Great post Timmy. I might pick up that book. I am really struggling right now... not sure if God wants me at a church or not. Membership in a church seems to bring men into things, kwim?
Michelle, I wonder why you post what you do?
Romans chapter 8 tells us to walk in the Spirit.
John chapter 4 says: God is a Spirit and those worshipping Him must worship in Spirit. Jesus also says that if we ask Him for living water then he will give it to us. John 7:38

Yeah, we should try again. I can't join as I am not a JW on my profile.
I would recommend that you send her this article: http://ex-jw.com/a-protestant-visits-the-jehovahs-witness-convention

I am really glad to have made your aquaintance. I have had the same thoughts, just wait until I comment on Bible highlights. lol. I have especially thought about placing Steve Hassan books into inactive people's hands at the Memorial.
Right now I am just hoping that our happiness shines through and they begin to wonder why I am not depressed anymore. If I went back at all then they wouldn't make that connection. Just trying to fade so that they can see my happiness.
love to you and yours,
SOG

LOL I was on a forum where instead of a 35 year old JW female, I was accused of being a teenage atheist male. I guess they detected my "bad attitude" rofl

Alright, I need to see about this.
Mine means that I am marked as part of Bablyon the Great and my family will be marching into the paradise earth over my dead body. I hope the birds scatter and they don't step on them.

he said that we needed to discuss it.
however, gone are the days where im putting myself in the firing line and not sticking up for myself.

Perusing this thread has been very upbuilding. I am glad you started it Timmy.
I agree that one shouldn't have to mention it to the Pastor. I disagree with certain things that Pastor believes and that is okay. I have one Leader. Yet, there may be a reason that Timmy wanted to talk about it, so he needs to decide at this point how best to handle things.
Love to all,
SOG
