The ratio of baptisms to attendees at a convention is an interesting metric. One nice thing about it is that both numbers are known accurately and announced at every convention. The figures from the OP are between 0.6% and 0.8% of the attendees. I would hesitate to call it a bounce back, although we recently have seen figures as low as 0.1% to 0.5%. However, as OneGen mentioned in his post, the ratio back in the day was often as high as 2% to 2.5%.

Some recent baptism figures in the UK - is there a "bounce back"?
by freddo inwell, round my way (south of the uk) all the way up to and including the regional conventions this summer, baptism numbers have been extremely low.
but i have just received news of three recent circuit assembly days where the figures seem to be higher.
(all have been across the last three weekends at a uk assembly hall in october).

Jonathon Edwards preached to the Red Indians
by StopTheTears ini never knew that the famous new england theologian jonathan edwards spent some years as a missionary to the red indian tribes.
there are various modern ideas as to how one should preach to those completely ignorant of christ and the way of salvation, but edwards had confidence that the gospel is the power of god unto salvation for all people.
perhaps someday those still living in pagan lands will accept christ and share in the blessings of america.

Some husbands become jealous over the time their wives spend away from home, getting fixated on it and acting out.

Chinese Communist Party to commence nationwide crackdown on Christianity including Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwleaks in8 october 2016. china's governing communist party is set to launch a nationwide crackdown on the christian church.. by matthew carney - abc.
the communist party has just enacted much tougher laws that criminalise christians if they do not pledge loyalty to the state.. chinese president xi jinping has warned that all religions now have to become "chinese" and the new laws will attempt to bring churchgoers and their leaders under party control.. the new laws will put the state firmly in charge, giving the communist party the ability to hire and fire church leaders and change religious doctrine to make it more chinese.... that means churchgoers will have to pledge loyalty to the communist party first.. there is good reason to be afraid.
chinese authorities have already started the crackdown in the christian heartland in the southern province of zhejiang.. it's been extensive and brutal.

I just looked at the 2015 yearbook and China is not listed. So it must be included in the 30 'other lands' with about 30 thousand JWs. Any way you look at it the number of JWs there is just a few thousand.

new movie Birth of A Nation
by dropoffyourkeylee inwhat are your thoughts on the new movie 'birth of a nation'?
while not a remake of the dw griffith movie of the same title from 1915, it will undoubtedly bring up discussion of the earlier movie.
i wonder if the wt will find itself embarrassed that some recent wt articles have touted their 1920's-era articles by that name, with no mention of the famous movie, which surely the readers at the time were familiar with.. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/07/movies/the-birth-of-a-nation-review-nate-parker.html?_r=0.

Has Robert Ciranko replaced Don Adams as president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania ?
by EdenOne inrobert ciranko has been a "helper" of the governing body in the writing department.. don adams (born 1925, presumably 91 years old now) has been president of the wtbts since 2000. .
however, in recent official posts (april 2016), robert ciranko is identified as "president of the watch tower".
does anybody know what happened and if this is an official change?.

I think the president now is just a legal function, without any real power. As long as there is a legal corporation under current laws, there will be a president.
