  Were You Depressed Because You Were A Witness?

  it seems that many people here have been greatly depressed because they were or still are jehovah's witnesses.

  what about you?

  I think many people were depressed because the WTS tries to suck the natural tendency to enjoy life out of people.

  We were always told not to waste time doing things that took time away from spiritual pursuits.

  In other words, we should use our free time being out in field service distributing worthless magazines.

  Jws are not allowed to have dreams and pursue them.
  Unless your dream was to further the WTS cause.
  Become an elder,ms,ect...

  There are some that take time to do things for enjoyment outside of the org., but for the most part the WTS beats thier followers by making them feel guilty for spending time doing things that the WTS finds useless.

  Which is anythingoutside of meetings and field service.

  After all,the WTS teaches that everything will be destroyed soon, anytime now, so a good JW would want to spend as much time as they can scoring points with God by being at the meetings and selling, distributing, placings useless magazines.

  i went to the two day circuit assembly.

  for those who wonder, its theme was taken from psalms 37:3 it's theme trust in jehovah and do good.

  You asked us this question and you got some answers.

  I hope you stay here long enough to explain why you think leaving the WTS is the same as leaving God.

  As far as I can tell, the WTS is not God.

  They have lied, decieved, made false prophecies,acted in an unChristian manner, and have put themselves in place of Jesus as the mediator between God and man.

  The have taught teachings that were found to be false, even to the point of people dieing following some of the teachings. ie:organ transplants,vaccinations, blood.

  They have always stated that they speak for God, and that they alone in all the earth is the group God is using to distribute His information.

  And yet, even after stating that they are Gods Org., and that God is using them and that to survive Armageddon aperson must be part of the WTS org. they have to keep changing their teachings.

  Their main focus is on doing works to please God and maybe, just maybe escape being anihilated at Armageddon.

  What IS the WORKS the WTS insist is the works God wants?

  Being at the meetings and selling, distributing, placing magazines.

  Now tell me. how would these works be pleasing to God?
  The magazines that the WTS forces their followers to get out to the public has ever changing info. in them. So they can't be Gods Words.
  The meeting are like sales meeting teaching how to place, distribute,sell these magazines.

  The whole emphasis with the WTS is DO MORE, DO MORE, DO MORE!!!!!!!
  Ok. Do more what?

  Take care of widows and orphans?
  Feed the hungry,? Clothe the naked? Help the helpless?

  No. None of these things.

  It's do more in fs. Selling, placing, distributing magazines. That's it.

  I really don't equate selling magazines with doing the works Jesus spoke of.

  If you feel that you must go back to the WTS,that's your bussiness.

  But I'd like you to explain why you think leaving the WTS is the same as leaving God.

  Question; Are Astronauts Heros?

  since the columbia burned up, i have heard many references in the news to those astronauts being heroes.

  what i wonder though, what makes a person a hero?

  is every astronauts a hero, or do they need to die to be a hero?

  I don't know if I would label them heroes.

  I think adverturers would be a better label.

  Also explores would be a good term.

  A hero to me is someone that puts their own life on the line to save others.

  The Astronauts did what they did for the adventure of it.

  Thru out history the have been many adventurers.

  Marco Polo, Columbus,ect....ect......

  These people may have done some heroic deeds,I don't know but for the most part, they were adventures.

  The space program is about exploring space.

  Brings to mind the Star Treck theme.

  To Boldly Go where No One Has Gone Before.

  WARNING! The Elders are coming.....!

  hi gang.

  if you live in england, be exspecting a call this month from the elders of your local kingdom hall if you have been dissfellowshiped,dissociated yourself or had any contact with the congregation in the past.....no it`s not coz they want their mouldy old books back; it`s some special effot ordered from bethel to get you back.....( obviously because their numbers have crashed since that panarama program last year,`suffer little chidren).

  i was out shopping, when an elder from my local kingdom hall rugby tackled me.the sod had me cornered in a shop doorway for ten minutes...he told me that this special effort is for febuary only, and because he said it`s come down from bethel, i assume it`s only england.

  kh elder wipeout today!!

  my brother set up a study last week with an elder in the kh library in westchester n.y. for today ...with the question prove that jesus choose the wt in 1919.... and my brother told him to be ready!!!

  well he didn't go but i did .. and they were waiting for us... i was very nice , but direct and i gave them no quarter.. so i start off well you got the question already where is your proof.... i pull out a wt quote , so what does the record show????

  lets go over it... i came in with a shopping bag full of wt's books and bibles etc... they start panicing with what's in the bag...lol so they try to say it's a progressive study and he wants to go into the new knowledge book ... i pull one out of the bag.

  well here's something of interest; a professor claims that they are in the midst of inventing an 'invisibility cloak', much like the one in the harry potter movies............now assuming that this is true, what would you use this device for???

  (as for me, i'd go out to area 51 just to see what the hell is going on out there).......... .

  i know many like myself have had alot of different experiances and have met many different people since leaving the jw's.my question is do you think you knew or found people to be more intelligent in the organization or have you found people to be more stimulating and intelligent outside the organization, setting aside the fact that the people in the organization are apart of it?

  i'm just curious as to peoples experiances.

  There are many intelligent people within the org.

  Problem is, they aren't really allowed to use their intelligence for anything that's not WTS related.

  They can't really carry on much of a conversation that isn't tied into WT teachings.

  They can't discuss things hapening in the world without saying that soon, any time now, the world will be wiped out.

  Sure they can recite WT lingo, words, phrases and rules.

  But can they or will they be able to discuss issues not pertaining to the WTS?

  They've been so ingrained with the WT outlook on things that even thos with intelligence aren't able to expand far beyond the barriers the WTS put in place for them.

  Their intelligence isn't allowed to expand to its full potential.

  looking after dying jw

  part of my job involves palliative care - and tonight i was looking after a dying jw man - awakes, nwt bible and the rest around the room of course.

  after feeding, washing, consoling, giving drinks, turning etc (you get the picture), i thought 'none of my colleagues are jws or even religious, but they are the ones here.

  i'll post again tomorrow, he may not be alive i suppose - but i can say that i haven't seen family about, let alone any "brothers/sisters" about to feed or console - i just see a scared and alone person - and thank goodness we're not all jws.

  After all, it's at the meetings where the JWs are told that they are the most loving of all religions.
  Can't you just feel the love?

  I guess they could go on a non meeting night but that's when they are suppose to be preparing for the meetings.

  I mean it takes time to read the WT and awake mags. devouring all of that spiritual feast.

  After all, what's more important?

  Reading and studying ever changing information that is in those mags. and at the meetings or caring for your fellow man?

  What did Jesus say?

  Didn't He stress in the parable about the Good Samaritan that the Scribes and Pharacies were right to pass by the injured man because they were rightous (in their own eyes) and they probably had something better to do?

  Oh wait a minute.

  He didn't say that, did He?

  No. I believe he ridiculed the Scribes and Pharacies for doing that and He showed that it was more important to help and care for your fellow human being than to go to some meeting or whatever.

  What is the scripture that says: God wants mercy, not sacrifice.

  But of course that doesn't include JWs. Does it?
