What makes WT think they can reassign Bethel volunteers to be Regular Pioneers.
by Zoos inwhen the gb cuts loose 1600 volunteers, what makes them think they can continue telling them how they will spend their time?
i've read on many of these threads that the 1600 will be reassigned.
what, are they still under some sort of contract?.

turning these bethelites into pioneers is just part of the spin. The posts suggest that the spin is working. The reality is the GB couldn't care less what these people do. -

Large Increase in Trolley Witnessing
by The Searcher inwhen the org implements its bethelite "genocide" and demotes many members of the "worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovahs witnesses" into lowly regular pioneers, many more trollies will have to be found in order for such ones to rack up their required monthly hours.. how many are actually going to be shocked by this into waking up?

The Bethelites that are young with just a few years in should be able to bounce back fairly quickly. The biggest burden will be those who have 10, 15 or 20+ years in. They are in for a shock. Life is tough. -

You might not believe this, but I believe the title is real. Belief is a wonderful thing. -

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

Why did you choose Jehovahs Witnesses?
by vinman ini'm wondering why ones on this forum initially became jw's.
if you were born in, why did you make it "your own"?
if you became one later, what was your draw and driving force?

I was a born-in. As I grew up I bought into the religion. It was not until I was in my mid-30 when I began to have doubts. My exit took well over 10 years. I have read enough experiences on this board to simply say my experience was not anything extraordinary. -

Also, James - I agree. Seniors are easy targets for scams. So, be very careful. There are honest players and there are those not so honest. -

James ask:"What happen if the unforeseen take place, all your savingis wipe out and you can't make the monthly payments, do they still kick you out even though you gave them $200000.00 for the privilege of living there???"
I was not involved in this part of the sales process. My guess is that they are looking for not only the upfront money, but sufficient resources to support your payments in any unforeseen event. I am not qualified to tell you what level of reserve you need. But I think if you are investigating, this is an excellent question.
I live in a Co-op apartment in Manhattan, if someone wants to buy into our building we requires a validation of income and a specific reserve. I am sure it is as strict - or even more so - in these buildings. In my opinion it should be. If I am in the building I don't want to subsidize a deadbeat.
As you know, ask many questions and investigate options. I am sure there are different levels of service - some may not be of any value to you. So make sure you are not paying for these. Good luck. Personally, I would seriously consider moving into one of these facilities. I see nothing wrong with spending the money I worked hard for my whole life so that I can have a comfortable experience in "god's waiting room" (just a little inside nursing home joke).

The only thing Medicare pays for is skilled nursing care - this is not extended care - but the short term convalescent care after a hospital stay. In my consulting activity I worked with these facilities to help with their Medicare billings.
These facilities are all - out of pocket expenses to the resident.

Getting old is an expensive proposition. If you have the money the other option is to leave it to your kids or someone else - you cannot take it with you. If you don't have money these places are not for you.
For a few years I worked as a consultant to nursing homes and senior living centers where the they provided care from independent living, assisted living, through to end-of life nursing care. The places I visited were upscale living centers that had fine dining, golf, and just about anything you can imagine. When I was on an assignment, instead of staying in a hotel, I generally stayed as an overnight guest in these locations. They were far nicer than a hotel.
Expensive - yes - but then again they serve a purpose, especially for those with no family and plenty of cash.
