Higher Education... Some ideas for those that think it is too late
by adjusted knowledge inso many witnesses lost the opportunity to pursue higher education in their youths.
perhaps it took decades for many here to leave and now feel it is too late.
degree you will also earn multiple certifications from other agencies:.

What do you have to be thankful for?
by NewYork44M ingiven the recent holiday, i can't help but reflect that this has been a very good year and my life is pretty damn good.
there was a lot of hard work, but i get a sense that i am finally reaping the benefits of years of effort.. what do you have to be thankful for and has 2014 been a good year?.

Thank you for your comments. Getting to the point of where I am in my life took years. But not that I am here in freedom I am enjoying every minute. While I love to complain, the fact is that I am happy with 2014. It was a very good year.

At This Point In Time Would You Ever Subject Yourself To A Judicial Committee?
by minimus ini certainly wouldn't.
and if the elders wanted to have a meeting with me, i would respectfully decline.
if the elders wanted to deal with you, would you talk with them?.

I have a lot to worry about. This is not one of them. None of my elder "buddies" would even remember my name - and some are dead. For remaining living elders to track me down would take an effort that would not be worth the effort.

2 Faced JWs and Thanksgiving
by minimus inmany jws enjoy turkey on thanksgiving day and are often discreet about their indulgences.
why be two faced?
why try to excuse it?.

Growing up in a JW family, we ALWAYS had turkey on Thanksgiving. It was also not unusual to invite friends over.
The part I hated was that we still had to go to the Thursday night meeting.

No longer to use "house to house record" slips and "please follow up slips"!
by stuckinarut2 ina letter has just been read out indicating that effective immediately, witnesses are no longer to use the s-8 slip known as the "house to house" record slip, as well as the s-43 "please follow up" slip (usually used for foreign language people).. the letter stated that this is because of the changes in privacy laws etc that are becoming common in the world today.. i will try and get a copy of the full letter and post it asap.. .

Welcome to all "lurkers" and new forum members!
by stuckinarut2 init seems like we have had quite a few new members join up over the last few months!.
has anyone else noticed this?.
i guess that most of us "lurked" here for some time before we got the courage to actually join up and start as a proper forum member?

Elders: Born-Ins vs Recruits
by breakfast of champions inthis is an unofficial survey.. was curious as to the number of currently serving elders who were born-in and/or raised as jw versus those who were "recruited"( i.e, not born in or raised as jw.).
for instance, right now in the hall i am assigned to:.
2 elders were born-in and/or raised as jws.. 5 were not (recruited as adults).

In my old congregation, most were recruits. I was born-in but was in the minority. Most elders were recruits. It has been a while so I can't remember the ratio.
