  RESCUE OPERATION: What did you do to help others Wake-Up?

  please share anything--whatever facts, methods, ideas, etc.--that you found successful in helping other family members or friends to "wake-up" and leave jws.

  also, include anythings that you found didn't work or even backfired.

  i'm particularly interested in how you were able to reach family members that initially shunned you out of mis-guided loyalty due to wt indoctrination.

  I'm particularly interested in how you were able to reach family members that initially shunned you out of mis-guided loyalty due to WT indoctrination.

  FYI: I was DF'd a little over two years ago. At the time I was unaware how many of us there are that have doubts and disagree with WT doctrine. Like many that have/still do, I stayed a long time to avoid losing my family. Now I've gained my freedom but they are still Stuck in The Movement. I need help to rescue them!!!

  Overlapping generation

  if according to the wt, overlapping generation theory is true,then someone born in 1914 could live to be 100, then overlap with another person born in 2014 who also lives to be 100,bringing us to 2114. by that time any?

  jehovah's witness will have long forgotten that once upon a time 1914 was pointed to as the start of the last days.. .

  a close insider in patterson told me john barr proposed the overlapping theory on the gb meeting.

  apparently it's now ok for known child abusers to be recommended as elders as long as the "sin" was years in the past: .

  "for example, the sin may involve past child abuse, and this would likely disqualify him for years.

  " - shepherd the flock of god, p. 38 (2010).

  BTW, I wonder how long is "years" in this context? Probably the opposite of "soon" or "imminent" in usual JW parlance.

  Note that this potential "disqualification" is only "likely" and could only be "for years". Hmmm, Shepherding the flock takes on new meaning!

  Are there any songs that remind you of being a jw ?

  this afternoon the song music box dancer came on the radio and i was instantly transported back to 1978 when my best jw friend got married.. this was "their" song ,, they are now divorced and one of them left the religion and is remarried.. another song that makes my skin crawl from a jw standpoint is mambo # 5.. there was an elder from my old hall, j. renfroe who always was telling the young people what music was acceptable for them to listen to.. and this guy was just so opinionated regarding everything.. so one time at a wedding this song comes on and he starts dancing almost uncontrollably.

  it was agony to watch, and i ( and many others felt embarrassed for him because of how he was dancing and how his self rightous opinions seemed to be thrown to the wind this evening.. any other examples of music that became tainted from a jw experience ?.

  Yes, it's interesting how many people have accused me of "leaving Jehovah". I have tried unsuccessfully to convince them that I am still a Christian and believer in God. But those still under the magick-spell of the GB/WTBTS can't seem to understand that if you leave the organization you can still believe in God.

  there's a lot of them!.

  one rule is you can't wear a tee shirt with writing on it if you are working at a quick build kh .

  nothing with logos.. let's add more stupid rules that were in your hall or that the organization has.. .

  there was no end to the amount of stupid rules put in place.

  one that always bugged me was "no shirts with slogans when doing kh yard work or at jw gatherings.

  id always get talked to about it when i'd wear shirts with a band on it or whatnot.

  No using of/quoting from any Bible other than the NWT. Unless of course you're the GB. This rule apparently doesn't apply to them or their delegated representatives on the mysterious "Writing Committee". I'm sure we've all noticed that the WT publications routinely cite/quote other translations/versions. For just one recent example see the w2011 p. 19, para. 13:

  “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Tim. 6:6, New International Version)
