if it were me and i really believed? i would be pretty happy i would think. the fact is that many are not, and that has to make you wonder. if you truly believed your next step was eternal bliss, wouldn't you die with a smile on your face? but i do not think this is the case in general.

Would like to hear about any stories that pertain to people trying to fix things from the inside, and then being weeded out. are you able to say in generic language what that looked like?

I like the video tate. normalcy abounds. my family life at that age consisted of a war zone on a daily basis, very few normal moments.

Conversation Baiting
by irondork ini assume most of us here participate in other discussion forums of various genres.
on those forums, where there may be jw participants, what would be some thread topic ideas for baiting them into a conversation, for the purpose of asking them questions that might help wake them up?.
i realize that's a pretty broad question.

you guys crack me up, you're as bad as the witnesses at times. the same way a person doesn't listen to a witness unless they got something already churning, so it is the same for sites like these. it doesn't matter if god appears and tells them the WT is off the tracks, they won't care, and it cuts both ways. with that said, you are left with one and only one variable that actually means anything, and that is, cater to their personal interests as a gateway. if they like football talk about footabll, if they like republicans talk about republicans, if they like cats then talk about cats. same thing the witnesses do, compliment them on their beautiful plants etc.

Interesting Comment From an Active Elder
by DarioKehl ini was recently speaking to an elder "off the record" while helping him do some house repairs.
i have a comfortable enough relationship to speak openly with him about things, but am careful to disclose the extent of my disbelief in wt doctrine.
anyway, this guy wouldn't last a day in the mafia because he can't keep anything confidential.

Even the most straight edged elders are doubting what is happening...the only people who aren't are the gungo-ho wack job elders, and ironically, they are the gift that keeps giving, because they are the ones completely destroying the religion like a wild boar locked in a candy store. they better pray god is not real, i can just see them standing before god like they are 8 years old with their thumbs in their mouth "but i didn't know that?" but but but i didn't know? anyone else pick up on this? i see grown men with this excuse from time to time, i expect to hear that from a 9 year old..."but i didn't know" ohhhhhh you didn't know silly me, I THOUGHT YOU KNEW *slaps back* don't worry about it, go ahead you're free.

History of JWN
by El_Guapo inhi guys,.
i was going through some old threads (love this site) and i came across someone mentioning in a post that this site started as gathering place for jw's and somehow became an "apostate" site.

I came to this site after realizing the tatt. had done some fishing on it previous to that but not much. i think that when the shit hit the fan, i remembered this site and realized it was the perfect venue to unleash because nobody in my real life really gives a shit about hearing anything about this subject matter. my intense anger is centered around 1 thing and only 1 thing only; the notion/principle of a group of individuals claiming *absolute* truth, and demanding *absolute* obedience, when they have a history of bungling one thing after the other. that is what drives my anger, and thinking about all the decent people who have been injured by this concept, because that is all it is in a nutshell, is a concept. truth, absolutism, obedience....all whilst knowing your doctrine has failed and failed and failed, yet continuing in this recalcitrant state of mind regardless of facts and evidence.

THE TRUTH is like a diaper
by Terry inthe truth is like a diaper.
this is why they change it so often.. the older truth is like the older diaper.
that is why it isn't good for anything.. new light is like the fresh diaper.

May 15 2013 WT: "REAL elders skip meals and lose sleep!"
by cedars infinally we have the society's expectations of elders in print.. this is from page 9 of the may 15th study edition.... "as indicated by the experiences of the apostle paul, our ministry may result in sleepless nights and times without food.
(2 cor.
6:5) these expressions paint a vivid picture of self-sacrifice and may well remind us of pioneers who give their ministry first place in life while supporting themselves financially.

sorry to say but this is actually the main rift i think between people like me and the head honchos. when i read the bible it tells me that jesus was the messiah and that he showed us how we should conduct ourselves and i thought that was good....i believe that there is a deeper message though, why do i believe that? well because it says that heh. that message is look, you need to take care of your families you need to love yourself etc. in other words you are honoring god by taking care of your families and also by showing yourself a degree of love, in the sense that you eat healthy food and listen to what your body tells you (the same way you listen to what your body tells you if you lean on a hot stove) it's telling you GTFO off the stove...you don't just keep leaning on it. that these are some of the under pinnings of the bible itself....in fact, it says that if you aren't doing these things, you may as well forget it, because any other good things you do are going to be ignored.
this is big, and for whatever reason i don't know, these guys at the top have a fundamental disagreement with this line of thought.
