I stopped reading the article asfter the second biblical quote. What amazes me about the divide and conquer story about the Babel tower,...God really was worried humans would get to advanced and better him...how odd.. jehovah used to live in a tent in the desert by any chance?? lol
Languages shows the uniqueness of the human. There must be as many religious varients of the christian denomination as there is languages in the western hemisphere alone....did god do something about splitting the church up too and didn't tell anyone about it??

Compilation of the bible and the NWT translation source.

from what i understand it was actually compiled under emperor constantines request in the 4th century ad.
this was the nicene creed.. i also am aware that there quite a few books that were considered for inclusion but weren't.

Okay guys I didn't want to start any frucus about Dr Mantey or the NWT translation. I was trying to find out why I Am getting 2 different bits of informastion. I personally think that history actually is the biggest master of distortion and I do not agree with any organisation that say they are the ultimate and one truth....

first contradiction in the bible?

i just stumbled on this after reading the thread about adam and the sexual subliminal message.
i was thinking about adam and eve and chronology, and a contradiction popped up in my head...so i picked up the bible and there it is.. gen 1:27 - god creates adam and eve, tells them to be fruitful.. gen 2:18 - now adam is alone?

Just to add to the contradictions, try googling book of Jubilees which is also an attempt to explain where Cains wife came from. Interesting to know that the book of Jubilees in used in the Ethiopian Church bible instead of genisis,...in the muslim bible and is also found in the set of dead sea scrolls. The Dead sea scrolls are Gnostic and tell of an evil God who greated the earth..... check 'em out if you like contradictions.

Gary, I have a quite minute without the" moral patrol" watching. I do feel exactly what you are going through and being in the same position as you with a wife who is "possessed" you probabally know by now there is very little you can do about it. I have to keep trying to find the woman I married and not the moralistic policeman who she is turning into. I have noticed since my wife has been studying the bible, she has made more mistakes with worldly issues and is actually looking to me more with some issues... a bit odd actually.
Anyway, back to the film. I study media, TV and Film at college. The charicters in films always are architypical of steriotypes. Nothing damaging there, My son who is 6 years old watches some dodgy movies and he knows who the bad guys are... Christians are also guilty of this with their images of christ...he is always show wearing a beard and oddly enough portrayed as white..... How many Americans would shout that the film was racialist but would kick up if Jesus was shown as a black man??.
I haven't seen the film yet but just the impression I get from this dicussion , black people do practice voodoo magic,...check out some history books.
I do feel that if you have a conflict of opinion in a family between the parents, the children will feel it. Discuss some sort of censorship programme with your wife. I cannot offer any advice on this but I usually do things behind my wifes back. She goes to church we watch "Terminator Salvation" and it will finish before she gets back. Perhaps you will need to censor your wife, keep her away from the news.....I had a headache over the damned riots this last week... work of Satan or not I bet this subject will come up in church on Sunday!!!

Perhaps you should quietly check out some of the horrors that are in the bible, the demonic imeragery they use.....the sex, incest etc etc and then ask your wife if it would be okay to make films out of some of the stuff. The bible has some of the most horrific ideas in it. Brimstone and fire wiping out a city is not far off watching Hiroshima being bombed however TV would show the aftermath...

I also am aware that there quite a few books that were considered for inclusion but weren't. Constantine commissioned eventaully 50 bibles to be written in Greek for his churches including the ones he built in Constantinopol. 2 bibles remain from this 50 and one is in the British museum minus a couple of pages.
Okay, I am hearing from a JW that she is a kin to the 1st Century Christians and she uses the NWT as her only true guide. Was there already a bible in use in the 1st century of just a collection of books loosely used by christians.
Which Greek Scriptures are the NWT actually translated from? I am trying to undertand a part of history which is really vital to the formation of a book that followers put their absolute faith in even though it was actually edited.......What is the WT teachigs on this matter and what is exactly true?? Is there a contradiction between historians and the JWs??
