  this morning i took my dog who is a therapy dog over to the hospital and visited with several patients.

  it is quite an experience, and it really helps people undergoing medical treatment to calm down and relax.. my wife was one of those patients, she is undergoing some tests before getting her gall bladder removed which will probably be sometime tomorrow.. afterwards i took the dog home, cleaned her up, and changed my clothes.

  since i was alone i drove over to panara to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, several of the nurses told me that they are pretty good.

  I hope you'll be feeling better about yourself knowing that your not a hypocrite like those people!

  As soon as you wrote Panara , I gasped! There towards the end, the snobbiest, most controlling,

  and prideful started frequenting that place. After a few trips their ourselves, being pumped by personal questions,

  and missing the humbler members of the congo.; we decide it wasn't for us.

  So we started taking out those who were depressed, single parents;

  to places they could afford and they really saw the difference between the clique and us, and appreciated us for that.

  PS: Best to your wife during her operation, especially with no bloody elders in tow! ( Doing the Steve Martin dance...)

  How do you know when the Governing Body speaks for itself, and when it is supposed to speak for Jehovah?

  in the catholic church, the pope is considered "infallible" when he speaks ex cathedra.

  that is to say, he is not infallible when he speaks about things that don't have to do with religion.

  for example, he may say whatever he pleases about economics, but no one will hold that catholic economists will have sinned against god if they consider that the pope is wrong.. the important point here is that the pope is thought to be infallible only when he speaks about matters strictly related to the church.. the wikipedia has this:.

  Even when they speak for themselves, they include God in there!

  Unusually when their ranting on about being "the faithful and discreet slave",

  "God's only approved channel', and "representatives of Christ here on earth"!

  They also won't interject into their tirades, their sins as an organization.

  Proving that the members of WT's board are not like Moses, who's imperfections he wrote about!

  Like apostate priests during the days of the prophets, they hide their bad deeds with gag orders;

  local elders copy this example. But of coarse, they bring God into the argument by saying:

  "We have Jehovah's spirit." Yeah, like wicked king Saul; God's spirit was strong against him too!

  You've proved there's a pattern of deception in the WT org's theology,

  and they've been repeatedly lying since before the 1950's .

  What this amounts to is the opposite of salvation, a technique used to enslave believers!

  First of all hat's a breach of pastoral trust, and more importantly they lead people to an eternal death!

  And all for what? Control of their ivory tower and a totally paid living!

  The way this GB has done so is through textbook cult manipulation; how evil and pathetic!

  JW Struggle; nice blog post! Our family decided as much a year ago.

  It's the main road going through Herod's city that then leads to Bethlehem; not the star!

  The shepherds saw the star, and the angels sang and danced around it.

  The early christian writers, Jesus apostle's students, called it a holy star!

On the other hand, the Society is a toxic brew. "Normal" people are affected by the cult atmosphere. Empathy, independent thought, and love towards fellows is derided constantly."

  The mom in the family; since her brothers were also abusive, manipulative, and close minded,

  the developed world is having hard economic times.

  so, for a while now jw's have been voicing the familiar "it can't go on...things are so hard".

  i'm in the usa, and the economics are tough, relative to this country.

  this is a personal observation and certainly not representative of all atheists.

  i enjoy discussions with folks of this persuasion; in general they appear well read and somewhat more educated than many believers.

  as a group most atheists cringe and become insensed when discussing the existence of a deity with believers especially fundamentalists.

  Hi Jonathan; I don't have a disparaging take on life, or a fatalistic view of the earth.

  I'm more happy than most, and especially so because of a hope for the future.

  By the way; breaking free from an "abusive relationship"(cult-corp.),

  also goes a long way in feeling better about life.

  Where I was coming from in regards to religion; is that I think of it as organized by and for men.

  However; when I think of worship, I think of freedom, and purity... a link to God with no man as arbiter!

  most people can't see the difference between (org.)religion, and (honest)worship.
