Was Jesus speaking to his disciples alone or Jehovahs Witnesses too?
by TimothyT ini no longer go to meetings or on field service and am now fading.
as my life is changing rapidly, im reading certain things in the bible and questioning how the jws percieve them.. for example, i read through the book of john before and wondered whether the jws like to apply all of jesus words to his close disciples, to themselves.. is everything said in the gospels and other parts of the bible to be applied by jehovahs witnesses today or do they just cherry pick their favourites or those which support their doctrines?.
what about context?

Koolaid-man: Are you receiving compensation from the WTBTS?
by Alfred inrick: it's just a question... (if it's been asked before and you've already answered it, please disregard this post).
the reason i ask this question is the following... if i were a member of the gb and i wanted to discredit the "apostate" community or make them appear to be "mentally deseased", i would start by approaching a well-known "apostate" like yourself and offer him significant compensation in exchange for his/her role in making unsubstantiated claims against the wt, posting pictures of 3-person demonstrations (calling them successful) and making up colorful characters like johnny the bethelite.
i would also have him throw in the occasional false claim so that jws can easily say: "you see?

If I was a JW and I had Orwell's 1984 on my bookshelf...
by TimothyT in... would i be councelled and told to throw it away?.
the book doesnt exactly support the jehovah's witnesses ideology, policies and teachings now does it?
at the same time though they may not appreciate how it could be applied to them and may only see it in the context of politics.. what do you think?.

Dream about the JWs last night!
by TimothyT inlast night i dreamt that i was in my suit with my family (2 of which are inactive and the other 2 who are not jws) and we were all about to head into my local kingdom hall.
this was my first visit since being disfellowshipped.. anyway, i walked in 3rd and greeted 5 brothers on the literature desk who didnt say a word.
i then walked into the main hall smiling and we chose a seat near the front and a brother (who i like) greeted us.
