Phizzy; You make a good point. I was born in. Stayed in for 50 yrs. Was disfellowshipped for divorce. Remarried a "worldly" girl & was intending on getting reinstated. As I was well known, the JC was looking to make an example of me & dragged their feet. After 2 yrs., I got fed up & started doing my own research. After C o C there was no turning back. Just dumb luck. I shudder to think of what my life would have been like & what I would have dragged my new wife through. I would like to use this opportunity to personally thank Frank M. of the Palmyra, NY Congregation for "punishing" me. You'll never realize what a wonderful gift you gave to me. You set me free Frank. I wish I could do the same for you.

The BEST way to "wake up" a JW
by Phizzy inwe have debated this over many years and in many threads, as all of us have family and/or former friends still in.
it seems that there is no "best" way to wake up a jw, it is as elusive as the "true" religion it seems.. but a comment made by poster "emery" on another thread stood out to me, he/she said :.
"what i have gathered is that most witnesses seem to be in it for emotional reasons.

If You Were Still "In The Truth" What Type of Life Would You Have?
by minimus indo you think you would be just going thru the motions?
would you be an elder, ms, or pioneer?.
i think there are many that stay in the religion simply because of family/friends considerations.

Pretty much the same. I already had serious doubts. Was taking the Harley across the US without the ex. as often as possible. Probably would not have the tattoos.

We were the best they had. Intelligent, truly caring with a burning desire for the truth. Having to make that decision to side with the truth knowing full well the cost. Or having to supress the truth while a stranger in a strange land. My hat's off to each & every one of you. Live Well.....Enjoy Life.

Like everything else, I think it's a matter of degree. I have 2 on each arm. All three daughters have them. One is still in the Borg. If JW's believe it's a mutilation of oneself, that principle has to apply unilaterally to piercings as well. So all those JW women with pierced ears need to be kicked out.

Our teenagers first Christmas tree
by truthseekeriam inwe had fun putting together our first artificial tree last week, it came out so pretty!
the lights and cheap ornaments just add to it.. we have been careful to close our blinds at night to avoid our jw neighbors from calling in the elders, that worked for a few days until we decided to go out for an early dinner and yes, i forgot to close the blinds!
as we drove up to the garage door i could see the tree in the front room and started to freak out a little.

I'm building a new house & have just the basement done. Still, I couldn't resist hanging lights on it. I still suck at wrapping presents. No practice at it for 60 years.

I don't remember the movie, but he played a boozing actor past his prime. As he left the ladies bathroom, I woman stopped him & said " That's for women. He replied, " So is this, but every once in a while I have to run a little water through it." Miss him already.

stepmom died 2 weeks ago
by love2Bworldly injust thought i would share with everyone how my jw sister treats our family.
my stepmother passed away 2 weeks ago, and had been in and out of the hospital.
so my brother told my jw sister, and she came running to town (5 hour drive) and they didn't call me but did call my oldest sister who then called me.. the jw sister took what items she wanted and left town.

I really detest people who believe they have a "right" to an inheritance. I've seen despicable behavior by sons & daughters who couldn't wait to ransack their parents' home. As a reminder, an inheritance is a gift not a right. Parents could just as well have given everything to the local humane society. ( And in many cases should have.)

I regret my disassociation.
by Zoos inif i knew then what i know now, i might never have disassociated myself.
i realize all i can do is speculate on what could have been.
however, when i consider the number of people i might have been able to help by dropping little thought-provoking seeds, i really regret having jumped to the decision to disassociate so quickly.. ive read the accounts of several people on this forum telling of how stressful it is to be in the position that i just described above.

We all have regrets. Regrets we got involved, we got family involved, we stayed, we left. That the Bills didn't make the playoffs again. Don't let it eat at you. Move on. As I always say
"Live Well.......Enjoy Life."
(On another note; should the Bills make the playoffs in 2014 I'm taking it as a sure sign that Armageddon is near.)
