Dozy this was the announcement that was made at the end of a elder school I went to serveral years ago. "You will hear TV reports on the news about WT from the UK do not believe them they are not true." Nobody had a clue what they were talking about. I did not know about the UN thing until I started coming to this site many years later. Just thought you would like to know this. Totally ADD

Refuting Franz's Crisis of Conscience
by irondork ini'm about halfway through crisis of conscience.
some pretty extraordinary stuff in there.. wondering, aside from telling people not to read "apostate material", has there been any official denial or refutation of the books contents by the watchtower society, official or otherwise?.
side note: franz is a wonderful writer, if a bit repetitive in places.

by gonzo2k inso, i'm new to the site lurked around for a week or so now before signing up.

Welcome to the forum Gonzo2K. Many of us had JW abusive parents. Somehow this cult instills in parents to become even more abusive to their own children. They think the children have to be perfect and do adult things and have adult thinking skills when they should really be just kids. The cult alllows this to happen for the innocennt children it has under its power. That is why ten of thousands of born-ins and almost born-ins have many emotional problems. They were not allowed to be children. I have found even at 57 I will sometimes do kids things at home. This helps me to heal. Again welcome. I will look forward to furture post from you. Take care. Welcome Wonder Woman. Great name. Sorry for all the hurt you are going through. It does get better as time goes on but for now it hurts. This shunning is the JW way of tearing down your self esteem and making you feel worthless and shaming you into going back into the cult. As one of our posters said a few days ago "It's a cult and a crappy one at that". I love that statement it helps me to see what is really going on. It will be sayings like this and others that will give you the resolve to escape with your children from this cult. Start reading all the great books out there on this subject. I suggest reading first Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz. It will help you to understand the mentality of this cult. Hang in there we are all here to help in anyway we can. Continue to post and vent your feelings. It does the soul good. Thank you for coming on this forum and looking forward to reading more on your life. Totally ADD

Rebellion Much?
by truthseeker1969 inone of my friends, a disfellowshipped person, recently started attending the hall again.. firstly, he went to the convention and told me tonight that members of his congregation came and spoke to him and he told them of his status and they apologized and left.. any elderly sister from the congregation who has known him all his life came and spoke and again he said he couldn't.
he was stunned when she said she "didn't care" and spoke to him anyway which he found touching.
the mother of this person did nothing to stop her from talking to him.. the older lady (a wife of an elder) said that she and many others are fed up with the "hatred" being talked about and that if people are to be helped then it is nonsense the way things are being done.. he then went to his hall and was surprised at one brother he had known for years who said that he wanted to take his picture along with his parents since he had known him since childhood.

I hope for open rebellion on this subject. WT cult has no right to breakup families the way they do. One spark can cause a great fire. Let's hope this one does. Totally ADD

Yes and No. Yes I missed out in all the holidays since I was the only JW kid in the whole school system were I was raised. Very few friends and did not know how to socialize. Force my wife and I to get married to young. Made to feel guilty about having children and working extra hours to support my family. Hated the fact I raised to child in this cult. Bot have woke up now but their wives have not. Missed so many things. But then No. At the age of 57 my wife and I have the best years of our life ahead of us. Without the overlords of the WT cult. Life is what you make of it. I feel I have many years ahead of me to make life something to look back at with pride. The anger of being a born-in into this cult will always be with me but I can show all those GB bastards they could not keep me in their throes. Starting today is the first day of my life. Totally ADD

Baltar447 your comment LOL. You almost made me spit my coffee out when I read that. I will remember that saying for now on "It's a cult and a crappy on at that." The thing is when R&F writes a letter to the WT and if the letter looks like something the writing dept. see serious and can't handle they send that letter with their own letter back to the local congreation the R&F goes and the local elders look into it. My thinking is this is becoming more and more of a problem. Takes away from field service and to much time being wasted on helping the R&F. Totally ADD

I wish JW's would stay home when they are sick!
by life is to short inas some of you know my husband got pneumonia on the way down to lake tahoe and wound up in the hospital.
we have not been around anyone that was sick nor did he seem to have a cold he just got pneumonia.
i had, had surgery for hernias amost three weeks ago but i doubt that gave him exposure to pneumonia.. well out of the blue while i was in tahoe a older sister called me and told me one of the elders had bronchitis really bad.

I remember years ago the older elders would speak from the platform saying the only reason to miss a meeting or FS was to be dead. We had a small child back then the older ones would always come to the hall sick and make everyone else sick. It was like a badge of honor to come to the meeting sick. The misses and I have notice we are not sick as must anymore also. Fairplay105 wlcome to the board. Its not the fact that some come to the meetings sick its the cult thinking behind it that causes ones to be so guilty about missing a meeting because they are sick so they come and make everyone else sick. Looking forward to your story. Totally ADD

Do You Want to be Valid?
by AllTimeJeff ini know how you feel...... you come to this forum for reasons of your own.
we all have as our default settings in our head that everyone else should think and see as we do.. sadly, or happily, the more you expose yourself to others, the more you experience the delicious irony that no one is the same, that god is so different to billions, or non existent to millions...... what we want though when we come here as former jw's isn't agreement, it's validation.. not that everyone else is wrong, but rather, just so that we matter.
that our life wasn't in vain.

AllTimeJeff and flipper thanks for such thought provoking threads. I wish I had the talent to put this kind of thinking into words. You both hit the nail right on the head on why people who leave the cult need to be validated. When all your real self is suck out of you and your mind becomes a robot of the WT I feel this is the first step we all need to regain our self esteem and make valid our new thinking by coming on this board. Great Job. We all need this to read this thread. Totally ADD
