In just a few days Reopened Mind and me will be taking that big trek up to the north country. We have hit very few road blocks in the last months getting ready for our move. Except one. We will not be able to get high speed Internet were we are moving to. What is funny our new neighbors on both sides of us have it but it is not available at our house. The carrier we will have up there have been real butt heads about the whole matter. They even went as far to tell us our neighbors are lying to us about having DSL. Then this phone company started saying our address does not exist. We know for a fact it is a 911 address. We had mail delivered their last year for 3 months. They gave us 3 numbers to call which they told us special reps. would help us solved the problem. All 3 numbers were non working numbers. Then they told us a higher up supervisor would call us in 24 hours to fix the problem. We didn't whole our breath. We never got the call. So now we are looking at satelite internet if we want high speed. We just found someone who will provide dial up. The only problem we have with that is this butt head phone company will have to give us a phone line. If this was your problem what would all you kind folks do? Thanks for listening and all the encouragement you all have been giving us. Hey I know maybe I can hook up string and a tin can to our computer. See you later. Totally ADD

If People Told you the JW's Would Change These Beliefs & Practices.....
by flipper inwould you have believed it ?
( i give credit to the poster password protected for giving me the idea of this thread ) .. after exiting the witnesses in 2003 i have noticed many changes within the wt society which really surprised me but after analyzing the changes - they really have convinced me the wt society and jehovah's witnesses are a mind control cult intent on ruling people's lives.
here are some i have noticed that have changed :.

A little known change in what is happening is they are moving towards using mostly Temp. workers at Bethel instead of Bethelites. That is one reason for the big purge a few years ago at Bethel. It's cheaper for them. The other big change is Reopened Mind and Me are no longer sitting at the KH being bored to death. LOL Totally ADD

Their actions toward you really shows they do not want to be out in service. For many this activity is very stressful and it shows on their faces. Pity them they do not know what they are doing. As the max said show true Christian qualitys. Totally ADD

there are 2 classes of ex Jehovahs witnesses
by the max inhi im part of a group of ex jh,s, we meet for drinks and dinner, go to football games.many of the guys do drugs,(i dont, i like sport) , most live very hedonistic lifestyles, lets leave it at that,(im happily married).
my point is, when i left, i was honest, and got df,d.
now im experiencing the same kind of shit that i experieced in the hall, the ex jw,s are just as judgemental, and stupid as when they were at the kingdom hall, for eg you were df,d we were not,it doesnt matter to them, that their doing coke and getting into group sex.

I totally agree with you on your 3rd. point Anony Mous. In our last congregation of 80 pub. we had 8 people with Bipolar. And many others who were a few blocks shy of a load. This woke me up to the major problem the WT has. Most people who are coming in are suffering with these mental disabilites. I personally see the WT is close to a breaking point in dealing with these people as a whole. The elders are not trained in dealing with this. Good point you made. Totally ADD

by undercover inleavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.
she was a child.
how can you expect a child to make such a decision?.

All come on Reopened Mind you loved being married at 21. Became a pub. at 6 gave my first talk a bible reading at 8. I was baptised at 16. To young for all those adult things. At 16 I didn't even know what I wanted to do with my life. And at 6 and 8 all I cared about was fishing, Bugs bunny and playing outside. Totally ADD

I have to agree with Outlaw. The GB does cause 99% of their problems. When I was a elder I learned more about imoral sex than I ever learned at work on a construction site. Also many people whom become JW come from very disfunctional back grounds such as "drugs, sex addication, drinking, grambling, being very violent and so on." Then many who are born-ins are raised by such people who may try their best to bring up their kids but don't have the right skillful tools to do so. With that and much more in mind the GB in their WT or KM give counsel to them on don't do this and don't do that. Always bringing up these things. Its like you have a friend who is a alcoholic who been on the wagon for many years. Every time your friends comes over to see you all you talk about is how bad it is to drink. What effect do you think it has on this person who is fighting alcoholism. This is the same with what goes on in WT land. I remember when I was 17 years old they had a talk on the service meeting about oral copulation. Most did'nt have a idea what they were talking about except younger married couples. With that thought fresh in their heads guess what happen that night in bed. All of us who leave this cult are adults. As adults we have to work hard on making right choices to govern our lifes. Whatever the choice is we have to pay the consequnces for that decision we made. Are there two classes of ex JW? There are probably even more of various shades. The important thing is what choices are we personally going to make with our new lives? Totally ADD

MS for 11 years. Duties were terriority, maz., maintenance. Elder 24 years. Duties book study conductor, WT overseer, Service overseer, PO , RBC, Temp work at bethel. No I never wanted status for the most part I truly wanted to help people. But all they did was run you down. The WT all they did was but more burden on you. True their was elders who looked for status by greening the hand of the CO. I was not one of them. I always told the CO do not give me parts because I give you a gift. Only had 2 parts in my life at a CA that was the morning text. They love beating a dead horse. I truly believe status was bad maybe if I thought it was good and went after things I would have been more happy. Now I know its a cult I am gald I did not do that. Totally ADD

Did you ever "love" the organization?
by slimboyfat ini am catching up on this july 15th study watchtower everyone is talking about.
it's perhaps a bit more intense in its vitriol than has been published in the watchtower in a long while (since the early 1980s apostate witch hunt) but it's stuff we've all heard before, even down to comparing apostasy to an illness and calling apostates mentally diseased.. but the phrase that stuck out for me was this:.
they may arise from within the congregation.

I never loved the Dish network orgaization and I let people know. I was not just content to leave. That makes about as much sense as what the WT is saying. Being in the Borg most of my life I was taught God=organization. It is just one of those cult thinking tools they use. The thing is most witnesses don't even realize what they are saying. Totally ADD
