Hey Alfred...if you were ever an elder it should be clear to you that there is no way in hell you would be able to teach something different than what the WTS instructs you to...From word to word manuscripts at the conventions to public talk outlines...everything is controled and at any sign of non conformity other elders will be quick to call you out. As elders you are taught to trade off your personal opinion for what is written in the WT magazine.

Requalifying as an Elder
by alfredjones100 ini'd like to throw something out to the exelders.. over the years since i stepped down as an elder, my dislike for the society and its ways has clearly grown.. but my love for the bible and my family and friends in the congregation has not got less.. i feel sorry that they are not mature enough to grasp the concept that you dont need the society to make god happy.. so i have been thinking ( and its just a crazy thought at the moment ) to requalify as an elder and to begin to really teach the truth.. to really challenge their thinking and take my talks to the limit without getting busted as a heretic.. whats youre thought?.

New Baptism Requirement?
by The Searcher ini would appreciate answers on this from elders or former elders .. speaking to a young unbaptized witness, he said that he'd like to get baptized asap, but he would have to achieve a return visit or two on his report before that could happen.. when i asked him what made him think that, he said that that was what the elders had told his sister to do, before she could get baptized.
is this standard practice by elders?.
haven't they read acts 2:38 to find out what qualifies a person for baptism?

I agree with DOC, the elders may feel that the publisher has still not shown the commitment level they expect. It may also be a way to tell him he is not ready yet without breaking his enthusiasm.

Change of doctrine - when did this happen?
by FingersCrossed ini received this article from a friend:.
watchtower changes concerning the anointed 144,000. there has been a major change concerning the 144,000 (the anointed) and for many years the anointed has played a major role in the teachings of the watchtower (wt).
the 144,000 is the most crucial teaching to the witnesses; however, the teaching on this belief has changed over the past few years.

When the number was getting smaller they called it a line of evidence that the end is near...now that the number is increasing they say the cause is emotional instability of the partakers...that they don't actually know how many annointed remain.

On another thread someone said that his father was trying to fit this tragedy into his door to door presentation...another tragedy proving we are living the last days.

I went throught the same thing. I was missing meetings due to my work schedule and travel. I talked to one elder and told him I no longer felt that I had an examplary conduct in meeting attendance and that I was no longer taking the lead in field service. He said that they would lighten my load, be patient with me and that in 6 months we could review the situation. I told him I didn't expect my work situation to change anytime soon and that he needed to listen to what I was telling him. The pressure of not living up to the standards established for MS was causing me undue stress that I could no longer deal with. I insisted he needed to listen to me...and that did it. I was scheduled to give a public talk at another congregation the following Sunday and I said that I could not do it, so the brother offered to fill in for me. A few months later I totally stopped attending meetings and I did not receive a single call or text...More than a year later 2 elders showed up at my door unanounced and I told them I knew where to contact them if I felt the need and that they should leave me alone. My wife is still active and I believe the day will come when they are going to insist talking with me...but I don't worry about it and I will deal with it then.

the dumbest thing a CO ever said
by nowwhat? in"if it was'nt for the preaching work there would be millions more witnesses" - he was saying jehovah wants quality not quantity.. si i'm thinking, what's the difference as long as he has a people that live by bible standards and are moral.
maybe sharing their hope and faith with friends and relatives on a casual basis?
how backwards is that?.

Talking about the coming of Armageddon, if you wait long enough, everything you wish for will happen...then he gave a few examples like a teenager getting his driver's licence or finishing school. At one point these events may have seem distant...but in time they were fulfilled. All I could think was that if we wait long enough we will all be dead...you morron.
The same CO said that repeating the same wrong statement over and over has people eventually believe that it's the truth...I thought to myself: where are the same things repeated over and over having everyone believing it's the truth?
These 2 statements were pivotal in my leaving the cult.

New Rooming Arrangement for some district conventions in the UK - what are they up to?
by 88JM inso i missed this letter below being read out last week - i got a look at it from the notice board this week.. from what i heard, this announcement was not received entirely positively as such, but there were apparently one or two for who this is a bit annoying.. staying at hotels for the district convention is nothing new here - many are used to staying at the same hotel/b&b/campsite every year, and get quite friendly with the owners.
but this year, it looks like not only do we have a new location for our district assembly (glasgow - the s.e.c.c.?
) but we are being told what hotel to stay at, supposedly to make things cheaper.. what i can't understand is, if this is really for the benefit of people, why didn't they do this years ago?

Blondie, a couple of months ago there was a news item on this site about city council approving a pay back to the WT for holding several DCs in their city...this may explain why the WTS wants its delegates to be visible around the convention site. If the WTS really wanted to give a witness to the city they would have us go out in the ministry as they did in the past.

Along with Cofty's comments, they even tell you how to dress when checking-in...and of course we all know that we must wear our assembly ID card at all times so the city residents can witness how much money JW conventions bring to the local businesses...makes it easier for city officials to justify paying a kick-back to the WTS...

The January 1st Watchtower Admits That JWs Have Been Wrong As To Their Expectations Of The End!...but
by minimus inthey excuse it by saying, it's ok since at least they were on the watch.. i believe they should think about god's view of watchmen who constantly gave false pronouncements.
they would be judged accordingly by god!.
