Today's Lesson (Too funny)
by iamwhoiam inwt 12/15 2010 koolaid edition p. 11 paragragh 17.
"rather than feel frustrated or discouraged because jehovah's day seems to be delayed, we should be glad that there is still time for us to be zealous for true worship.".
since the future and the past do not exist except as concepts in the now, than how can knowing what is to come even possible?.

Background Checks????
by iamwhoiam ini was talking to an elder friend of mine.
he says they got a letter in that makes it more strict for a brother to reach out as an ms. if there was ever a letter written on the prospected brother regarding past wrongdoing, he is now practically turned down without question by the circuit overseer.
elder friend said society may even impliment background checks on anyone reaching out.

Why do the JWs have such an aversion to philosophy?
by Darth Eowyn ini mean, they seem to avoid it like the plague.
i know people will say that they only need the bible to guide them in life...etc...but i contend that you cannot simply read the bible by yourself; at least without knowing where the philosophical principles contained within the bible come from.
is this aversion of confusing philosophy with faith way over the head of most jws?

Philosophy requires independant thought. A philosopher is a lover of wisdom, and you are not able to become philisophical unless you are willing to think and ask independantly. Independant thought is considered evil to not only Jehovah's Witnesses, but to most religions.

You ever go through extended moments where nothing satisfies you, to the point you wouldn't mind dying?
by miseryloveselders indon't get me wrong, this isn't a call for help or anything like that.
i'm not about to do anything stupid, just feeling a little down and exhausted tonight.
i feel defeated, even though i don't feel as if i'm battling anything.

We are only human my friend. Sometimes we forget that happiness, sadness, depression, and anger are just labels for feelings. You might consider not trying to fight your feelings but instead be willing to recognize and experience them. They come and go like the wind. Somtimes they come in trends both short term and long term. If we allow our thoughts and feelings to pass through us, perhaps we may find ourselves genuinely happy over the long run. We are our own worst enemies only if we choose to be.

Please explain the deal with Smurfs
by not bitter ini keep reading comments about smurfs but i don't understand.

That actually happened in my hall in 1983. I saw it with my own eyes. You see, this kid brought in this smurf his mother (a bible study) bought him at a garage sale earlier that day. He set it on the floor and it started walking down the isle towards the door during our meeting. Its eyes never turned red, but they did roll side to side as he walked. Everyone started screaming, it was utter chaos. The smurf was not even plush..it was hard plastic. It took almost 15 minutes for the mayhem to settle. Come to find out, the smurf was simply battery operated. But the rumors had already started.
The end

WTBS questions education? Hmm...I wonder
by iamwhoiam inhere is a great (very realistic) quote.... in 1914, john alexander smith, professor of moral philosophy at oxford, addressed the first session of his two-year lecture course as follows: gentlemen, you are now about to embark on a course of studies that (will) form a noble adventure...let me make this clear to you...nothing that you will learn in the course of your studies will be of the slightest possible use to you in after life save only this that if you work hard and intelligently, you should be able to detect when a man is talking rot, and that, in my view, is the main, if not the sole purpose of education.. so, is the wbts afraid of people becoming educated?.

So, is the WBTS afraid of people becoming educated?

by iamwhoiam in"let's see a show of hands of those who know that the end is very close (everyone raises thier hands while looking around at each other).
excellent!...we know this because we have a whole-hearted faith in the faithful and discreet slave don't we?".
no explanation needed .
