the guilt borne by former Jehovah's Witnesses
by Nickolas ini have been noticing in various threads that many former jehovah's witnesses in here feel a burden of guilt about having been a jehovah's witness.
mostly talk about how terrible they feel for having imposed wtbts beliefs and strictures on people, especially on people they love.
i am beginning to believe that this is a key trigger for people when they finally get up to the point where they feel they must leave the society.

Watchtower Puzzle Spirit-Directed vs Inspired
by FatFreek 2005 inwatchtower puzzle spirit-directed vs inspired.
scan your bible and you probably won't find the term spirit-directed.
i searched for that term online and could not find a dictionary that defines it.

Rolf Furuli
by inbetween inmy experience with jw so far taught me, that among them are all kind of personalities, with their particular reason for joining or staying in a religion (cult) like jw.. you find those with mental problems, those born in, who dont know any better, those with serious problems handling life (drug, alcohol, porn addic, who need strict rules to function).. but there are also quit normal people, who manage their life failry good, they often just accept anything of the org on a superficial basis, without giving too much thought, and going more or less through the motions.. then there are those, who really are deep thinkers, often with higher education.
besides their belief they take interest in things like quantum theories, history, even philosophy to a point etc..... however, they do not use their sharpe mind when it comes to examining their own religion.
i can in the meantime even understand this, because mostly they have emotional reasons as well to be a jw, and anything contradicting they put under "cognitive dissonance", and just dont think about it.. however, what puzzles me most, is when some of them, being exposed to apostate ideas, still use all their ability and skills to defend clearly ridiculous positions.. personally i also like to scrutinize things, i tried the same with some doctrine, particularly blood teachings, and could not find a solution, thinking it was my lack of insight.

having been born a jw i always felt i had to please jehovah in everything i did.. in the midst of all that however, i had this gulity feeling that haunted me and kept following me.
i just could'nt completely forget about jehovah.

This Weeks Watchtower Study
by Lets Think inso paragraph 5 of todays watchtower says: people with faith see clearly the difference between the baseless claims of men and the sacred promises of jehovah god.
then i thought of every pre 1995 awake inside cover page in the box where it say why the awake is published; where it says:.
most important, this magazine builds confidence in the creators promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.. .

JW's - an international organization?
by Listener ini always thought the jws were an internation organization but it appears they don't consider themselves to be that.. this was in a letter found on google was written by wt loyd vice president of the wtbs australia, it was a submission to be treated as a charity.. http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:qahsgte4vysj:www.cdi.gov.au/submissions/357-watchtowerbibleandtractsocietyofaustralia.doc+watchtower+bible+and+tract+society+of+australia+financial+report&hl=en&gl=au&pid=bl&srcid=adgeeshqa1b_fsujltkvmgfjcx1_ba5vup35fhuri35cmc4ndprw6ny-rofdcp8lbyzwio5ou--0bwurdjivxt_5m8fnmy9vdr0qeue-e2pxt2k6jpvzcy2ja4d7njakxcaqlujyxjkf&sig=ahietbrtufqf8i7kxtys0qlvyejniqq5ww.
issues regarding definitions used in australia compared to other countries.
the society is not an international organization having branches in other countries.. however, jehovahs witnesses are worldwide, and a different not-for-profit organization.

Dumbing down of the Witness Children
by wannabefree inperhaps dumbing down is the wrong term, but here is my personal observation, i wonder if others have experienced this.. you know how in the ministry you might meet someone and have to educate them about their own religion before you can teach them that it is wrong?.
i have noticed this with my kids.
i like to think of myself as a reasonable person, moderate, i have tried over the years to acquire balance about "worldly" people, teaching my kids not to be so judgmental, leaving the ultimate judging regarding a person's faith in jesus and jehovah's hands.
