i am concerned about the spiritual welfare of the jehovah's witnesses.
surely we all have noticed an unhealthy development in their leaders attitude, the "governing body".
they have more and more begun to emphasize their importance and their power, in the literature and talks and thereby drawing unnecessary much attention to themselves.

for the past month i have been reading threads on the jwn that mentioned steve hassans books.
last week while i was at the library, i checked out combatting cult mind control by steve hassan.
i agree with all of what steve hassan wrote about destructive mind control (i may disagree with some of his conspiracy theories).
Sadly, very few therapists are familiar with the kind of mind control that breaks down JWs...
july 11, 2011 will be 34 years since i was baptised as one of jw's.
the sleeping pill i took was in the form of them providing the information that made the bible come alive with the truth and insisting that they go by the bible not adding or taking away from it.
i had negative experiences from local brothers from time to time, however i excused them as part of being imperfect.

i'm well into the book, can't put it down, it is just so fascinating and so utterly devastating to the credibility of the wtbts.
i suspect that any jehovah's witness who has a modicum of self respect and intelligence could not but finish the book a step or more on the path to emancipation from this awful, people destroying religion.. i really want my wife to read this book but i anticipate that she will refuse on the basis of it having been banned by the society as the worst kind of apostate literature.
i am genuinely saddened that she will not grant me the same kind of trust and respect she gives so lovingly to her watchtower masters and i will doubtless say this to her when she turns down my invitation.
I know I can easily get 2 JWs I know to read this book... The problem is, it's not available in Spanish... Amazon hasn't sold it in years...
I know I can send them the pdf link, but they are really not the kind of JWs that read books on a "Kindle" much less on their computers...
Anyone out there have this book in Spanish? I'm willing to pay top dollar for it... thanks
wow, it's hard to believe it's already been about a year since this subject was covered in the wt study at kindgom halls around the globe... let's read it just one more time, so we don't forget just how ridiculous this sounded when we first read it.... watchtower (study edition), april 15th, 2010 issue, pages 27-29:.
"this magazine has long been used by the faithful and discreet slave as the primary channel for dispensing increased light.
... what does this explanation mean to us?
Wow, it's hard to believe it's already been about a year since this subject was covered in the WT Study at Kindgom Halls around the globe... let's read it just one more time, so we don't forget just how ridiculous this sounded when we first read it...
Watchtower (Study Edition), April 15th, 2010 Issue, Pages 27-29:"This magazine has long been used by “the faithful and discreet slave” as the primary channel for dispensing increased light. ... What does this explanation mean to us? Although we cannot measure the exact length of “this generation,” we do well to keep in mind several things about the word “generation”: It usually refers to people of varying ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period; it is not excessively long; and it has an end. (Ex. 1:6) How, then, are we to understand Jesus’ words about “this generation”? He evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation. That generation had a beginning, and it surely will have an end. The fulfillment of the various features of the sign clearly indicate that the tribulation must be near. By maintaining your sense of urgency and keeping on the watch, you show that you are keeping up with advancing light and following the leadings of holy spirit.—Mark 13:37."
Now, correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I believe this was the FIRST and LAST time the GB came up with this absurd "new light" regarding the "generation that shall not pass" (at least in print). I know they mentioned it once or twice in assemblies shortly thereafter, but this is quite possibly the very last time we'll ever hear anything about this "generation" teaching or shall I say the "two overlapping generations" teaching. It would appear the GB threw it out there to get the monkey off their backs and to take our pulse but then realized that not too many brothers were buying it... tolerating it, maybe.
But I think this will eventually go the way of 1975... When new JWs start bringing this up in about 5 years or so, "old-timer" JWs will surely say "the FDS never said such thing!... some brothers just misunderstood or were serving Jehovah until a certain date" or other JW-speak...
What say you?
i am just wondering since these people never work a secular job.
is there some sort of an arrangement from the society to care for them?
presuming they don't even have children of their own to look after them when they are old..
They overlap with the 2nd overlapping generation...
i didn't go to college and of course, "higher education" was never recommended.
still, i never felt terribly deprived because of not going further in my education.. yet, i did wish that i could've had "normal" aka "worldly friends".
i wish that as witnesses, we could've been better integrated with other people.
As a JW child and even as an adult I didn't sleep very well...
at one time, it seemed that the majority of those leaving, were young ones brought up in the cult.. from what i can see now (at least on here), there seems to be a high number of 20+ baptised members years leaving.. has this always been the case?
it might be i just didn't notice from my parochial view from the kingdom hall!.
or are there really more long standing jw's leaving now, than ever before?.
i know the poster lost generation made a fantastic thread on this july 15th apostate article, however - i noticed some very powerful points on pg.
17 paragraphs 9 - 11 which weren't brought out that i feel needed to be touched on.
as was brought out in his thread this article told jw's to avoid apostates because they are " mentally diseased " allegedly and to avoid their web sites, not read their literature, watch t.v.
