  I can't help noticing that so many of the behaviors people have mentioned on this thread (entitlement mindset, expecting help but never offering help, expecting others to follow the rules but not following them themselves, etc.) are the exact opposite of what Jesus taught about how to live.

  BluesBrother's statement that JWs use the divine name "like he was their mate whom they meet in the pub" reminds me of the contradictions in the JW religion -- you're supposedly the only ones who are on a first-name basis with God (your "friend") and yet you see him as a stern, never-satisfied figure who might well annihilate you any day now at Armageddon because you haven't proved good enough to deserve his undeserved kindness.

  my bible says in several places that "there is no one righteous, no not one".

  In a works-oriented salvation system such as the Watchtower's, it's all about keeping the rules.

  So what do we need Jesus for?

  Come to think of it, the GB places far more emphasis on "the faithful and discreet slave" (i.e. themselves) than it does on Jesus.

  "Hence, though most persons may be unaware of what God says and may look on blood as just something to sustain human life temporarily, not so with true Christians.   There are other groups that don't believe in the Trinity or Hell.

  The distinctive of Jehovah's Witnesses is loyalty to the organization and the teaching that the GB is Jehovah's appointed faithful and discreet slave who must be obeyed without question.

  my brother worked at a grocery store at 16 years old.

  he would miss tuesday's ministry school due to his work schedule.

  david splane comes out firing and is relentless as to the reasons why christianity was brought down.

  christianity was not broken down by persecution, but by false brothers and apostate teachings.

  today, jehovah's witnesses face the same danger from false brothers and apostates.

  In other words, once you decide it's "Jehovah's organization," you are forbidden to consider any evidence to the contrary.

  Of course, if you look at evidence BEFORE making up your mind whether it's really "Jehovah's organization," you aren't really interested in the truth and you are persecuting Jehovah's Witnesses, so they will kick the dust off their feet as they cut off further communication with you.

  absolute worst case scenario, the last of the generation that saw the events of 1914 would have died off would be in the mid to late 1990's!

  so we were told in the 1980's!

  so now we 3/4 of another generation past that!.

  Russell's measurement of the main passageway of the Great Pyramid changed by 40 inches from one edition of his book to the next in order to accommodate the doctrinal switch from 1874 to 1914.

  Maybe the GB should head to Egypt and measure it again.

  No telling what new light they could come up with...
