Any time you try to get a JW to think outside the WT box, they think you are persecuting them.

Thoughts on Sundays wt about persecution
by nowwhat? inso let me get this straight.
even though law enforcement has their hands full with illegal drugs and guns on the street, child traffickers, dangerous gangs and such.
they are going to now pool all their resources to confiscate bibles and religious literature?!

New Armageddon date?
by neat blue dog inlooking at the most recent wt the study article focuses on the jubilees.
the made a separate box in the article to highlight the math behind jubilees, and i'm wondering if they're trying to get people thinking and stir up the pot without actually making a false prophecy.
for instance: jubilees happened every 7 times 7 years.

In Millions Now Living Will Never Die, Rutherford used Jubilee cycles to "prove" that the patriarchs would be resurrected in 1925.
Of course, that wasn't a false prophecy...
It was merely a failed expectation...

I hope the more the GB make videos, the more JWs will see just how out of touch with reality they really are.

How to avoid getting disfellowshipped for having a wordly girlfriend?
by cookiemaster inhey guys, i've been pimo going on full inactive for a very long time, 5+ years.
pretty happy with the current situation.
over the years, i've gotten lots of grief from the local elders and cos for my inactivity, attending wordly public events and social media posts.

I'd advise against trying to play games like having her pretend to study or sneaking around and pretending you're not dating whenever a JW or elder is nearby.
She deserves better than that.

Holy spirit indwelling
by Ding inis it your understanding that any jw can have holy spirit indwell them or is that an experience a part of the anointing that the wt teaches is reserved for the 144,000?.
please provide references if you can..

I would have said that the WT teaches that holy spirit indwelling is for the 144,000 only until I read that 1987 quote.
I searched for other statements but didn't find anything definitive.
That's why I started this topic.

I found this quote in the July 15, 1987 Watchtower, p. 13: "Just before giving a public talk or having some part on a Service Meeting or in the Theocratic Ministry School, we can beg Jehovah to have his holy spirit dwell richly in us. Why? So that we may have confidence and poise, may speak with earnestness and conviction, so as to bring honor to God’s name and build up our brothers. All such prayers are also conducive to our having the right frame of mind when speaking." (Boldface added)
That sounds like any JW can have the holy spirit dwell in them.
Is that different in Watchtowerspeak than having holy spirit indwell?
I find this confusing.
Is there a specific article that says the indwelling is only for the 144,000?

Our congregation will be deleted
by Rattigan350 inlast night was the co's visit.
prior to his part, an elder had a part on following theocratic direction.
it was about our congregation being deleted (there are 2 sharing this hall) and the people and territory being divided up to the 4 other surrounding ones.. they say it is not about numbers but about making best use of resources.

This sounds to me like a great opportunity for people to fade.
Everyone will assume they went somewhere else.

Did Jesus die on a stake or pole?
by sweetyj inwe already know how jws will respond ( on a pole).
but i found an article that talks about jws views on how jesus died.
i didn't know that there was a time when jws accepted the cross unlike now.

A great example of the WT majoring on minors.
What difference does it make?
I never understood why the WT considered a traditional cross to be a pagan phallic symbol... but a single upright stake isn't?
It's all about the WT trying to convince JWs that they have superior Bible knowledge that makes them more righteous than the people of Christendom.

"Gem from the November 2019 WT. Reject apostate material because JWs trust in "their brothers."
by Daniel1555 indear friends.
i didn't post for a while, but i still enjoy the great jwn community.. just wanted to share a "gem" from the november 2019 study watchtower.. paragraph 8 from the article "are you maintaining your large shield of faith?".
satan, “the father of the lie,” uses those under his control to spread lies about jehovah and about our brothers and sisters.

The WT comments quoted by Blondie assume that JWs are Christians because they are following the "faithful and discreet slave."
Are they?
Or are they unwittingly following a false prophet that claims to speak for Jehovah and Jesus?
Surely, that it something every JW should consider worth investigating.
They won't... but they should.
