in my city, there's been a husband and wife who quit this week.
hurray!.
the first thing that came to mind when i heard it was 'they didn't need my help'.. you see, many in my city who quit in the past were previously on my mailing list.

due to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.
what about the thousands that don't get caught?
Long after leaving, I found out that there
were 7 (one sent to prison) 7 elders who
were molesting children in my old
congregation ....... wow it made my blood
run cold!!!!
When questioning about brother xxxxx,
the answer was " oh no he only abused
his own kids"! ......ONLY!!!!
Omg, parents are taking an awful chance by
joining the jw cult!

... but most of my new (post jw) friends either don't know my birth date (if people don't specifically ask i won't tell them), or they are 2500 kilometers away in the netherlands... so all that's left to celebrate with me are my hubby, the two doggies, cat and my two rabbits... mixed feelings, i miss my friends and family around and haven't found friends in spain yet.
luckily our daughter will visit us the end of the month... and yesterday we've found a new rental house and we're moving into it next month already!
i'm thrilled and really looking forward to it, then we will finally be able to let all the rest of our belongings come to spain (2/3 of our stuff is stored in the netherlands).. so with this in mind, i'll just say 'happy birthday to me' and will enjoy my third birthday in espana .
Bruja .... the best birthday ever!
How does a Sunny Witch celebrate a birthday?
With a whole lot of laughter and magic!

it takes time to stop thinking or reacting like a jehovah's witness.. are you still judgmental?
a know it all?
a person that listens more with their heart instead of their head---like jehovah's witnesses ???.
Guess I have changed in a lot of ways, sure
don't look at others as 'bird food' at all anymore.
Buuutttt.......still kinda maaaddd about all that crap
we were taught, that was always wrong.....but never
ever ever an apology or admitting they were running
ahead & disobeying the 'scriptures'! Or recognizing
that they ruined so many lives!
okay, this is going to be a bit of a general rant.
i had a long conversation with a jw elder recently about shunning and evolution.
i became qunite frustrated with the conversation and admitted this at the time.
"Yeah, I know its pointless. I always fool myself into think if I craft the perfect argument they will see the light. That's what I suppose is so frustrating."
Know exactly how you feel, I have been really
frustrated by this very thing.... their whole watchtowerese
is sooooooooooooocrazy making!

this is a true experience that i thought i would share, one that occurred just a few years ago in my area.
it is a real experience, nothing made up here.. a younger couple moved into our kh, into the joining congregation (so not ours, but the other one that shared our kh).
they seemed nice enough, they had one boy that was about 8, and a baby on the way.

Alan Feuerbacher
A few years after the complete collapse of everything C. T. Russell had predicted, J. F. Rutherford began a process of replacing Russell's unfulfilled predictions with a series of invisible and spiritual events associated with the years 1914 and 1918. By the early 1930s the process was complete.
An interesting comment on this transformation was made by Carl Sagan in his book Broca's Brain(New York: Ballantine Books, 1979, pp. 332-333):
Doctrines that make no predictions are less compelling than those which make correct predictions; they are in turn more successful than doctrines that make false predictions.
But not always. One prominent American religion confidently predicted that the world would end in 1914. Well, 1914 has come and gone, and -- while the events of that year were certainly of some importance -- the world does not, at least so far as I can see, seem to have ended. There are at least three responses that an organized religion can make in the face of such a failed and fundamental prophecy. They could have said, "Oh, did we say '1914'? So sorry, we meant '2014.' A slight error in calculation. Hope you weren't inconvenienced in any way." But they did not. They could have said, "Well, the world would have ended, except we prayed very hard and interceded with God so He spared the Earth." But they did not. Instead, they did something much more ingenious.
They announced that the world hadin fact ended in 1914, and if the rest of us hadn't noticed, that was our lookout. It is astonishing in the face of such transparent evasions that this religion has any adherents at all. But religions are tough. Either they make no contentions which are subject to disproof or they quickly redesign doctrine after disproof. The fact that religions can be so shamelessly dishonest, so contemptuous of the intelligence of their adherents, and still flourish does not speak very well for the tough-mindedness of the believers. But it does indicate, if a demonstration were needed, that near the core of the religious experience is something remarkably resistant to rational inquiry
i hate to read the wt, but i skimmed the july 15 study edition.
i found many examples of propaganda, of course, but a couple things really stood out.
1) the future of the preaching work.
Data dawling ...plse post a link for magazine!
after reading a great article and video by mr john cedars on his website:.
http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/the-cedars-challenge-how-to-bring-down-jwsurvey.
it raised a very simple question:.
Dear AD...... how did we believe for so long,
maybe we wanted it all to be true. Even today
with everything at their fingertips...they still
just gulp it down & stagger away home...till
next time.

the unexamined life is not worth living.. -socrates.
holding all of humanity in contempt and degrading every achievement of mankind as being insignificant is not a philosophy or a worldview worth having.
tell me, oh self righteous jw, what was the price of your integrity?
