so i said i would write about the 2014 convention program that you guys kindly posted here, to the jw friend who contacted me out of the blue after over 20 years since we d'ad.
sorry if you find this repetitive if you have already read my story.
this friend does not know anything about how my family shun me and i thought it is relevant in the light of the convention symposium talk about putting family in second place.

my wife and i are presently interstate house sitting for a freind , and this morning 2 jw`s called unexpectedly of course .
after their introducing themselves.
they offered the invitation to the memmorial which i rejected , then let him present his spiel , nothing has changed by the way .. i had them their for about an hour , i`m on holidays nothing better to do this morning except keep them away from other doors .and of course they were prepared to stay.
Great job keeping JWs from non-JWs' doors, smiddy!! You may not be able to help a JW awaken, but you may be able to help non-JWs from getting sucked into the WTBTS.

Hi Jon Preston, What do you like to do that doesn't cost much money and you can make new friends? Go to a park? Go to the gym? Go to a community event? If you want to get out of your depression, get out of your comfort zone.
Conditional friends are easy to make and lose. Unconditional friends take more effort, but friendships lasts longer and will survive adversity.

i have some ideas, but want more to choose from..
If JWs knock on my door, I plan on taking one of two actions. If JWs appear healthy and less than 75 years old, I will ask them if I can give them something in return. After overcoming their objections, I will accept their propaganda, write either www.jwfacts.com or www.freedomofmind.com on it, and then hand it back to them. I will then tell them that the information helped me erase any doubts about the Watchtower. I now know that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult.
If they appear frail or more than 75 years old, I plan to invite them in for tea and GS cookies, so that they will spend less time trying to place proganda.
If JWs leave propaganda on my door, I will write www.jwfacts.com and www.freedomofmind.com on the propaganda and then post it at the local KH or may be make a poster to post at the Memorial as JWs exit.

okay, i like to hang out with these twelve other guys a lot, but recently one of them---i call him josh--(to help protect his identity) as started being a bit of a jerk.
he just decided that he was the leader of the group, and i'm not 100% comfortable with that.
and he expects us to treat him like he was god or something.
Welcome trex2strike, If you don't like Josh, why hang out with him? Friends are people who you like.
Before contacting the police, do an internet search for Josh. If Josh has broken the law, there should be a warrant for his arrest, possibly on the internet. If Josh is a felon and you are afraid of being labeled a snitch, I would use an anonymous police tip line to inform the police where/how to find Josh. Don't contact the police to get Josh out of your life. Do it because Josh is a felon.

it seemed to me that everyone in my kh has accepted the fact that they will die.
that's all they kept saying, even the wt conducting eldumb said, " we have to teach the next generation because we won't be here forever.." wth?!???
I wonder if the WTBTS is getting ready for "New Light". Is it possible that the WTBTS's doctrine will change from "after the apocalypse 144k will be in heaven and the remaining JWs will live on earth" to add a new class who will be reincarnated after the apocalypse to live on earth?
If the WTBTS does not continue to offer an illusion of living forever in Paradise without injuries/illness, what will JWs have to look forward to? The WTBTS is moving more to using more technology and less human interaction and to control social activities, so what fun will JWs be able to look forward to. About the only thing that the WTBTS will allow JWs to keep are feelings of hubris and being persecuted.

Jimmy Carter is an intelligent, good, and honorable man. Although I was not impressed with Jimmy Carter's presidency, I'm glad and impressed that he has raised and championed many controversial issues since he was president. I hope that his latest book brings relection by religious leaders andsocial change.

every once in a while i hear people purposely make fun of jws, calling them hovas, jeehoovers, etc.
i don't think that's a good way to reach them..
IMHO calling JWs names or the WTBTS names is counter productive. Calling the WTBTS a dangerous cult is labeling it. Either one will probably cause a JW anxiety.
At least the latter might allow me to ask a JW, "If you do not know what are the characteristics of a dangerous cult, how can you say the WTBTS is not a dangerous cult?" Hopefully, a conversation might happen. Name calling rarely starts conversations.
