The fundamental flaw with the WTBTS as "God's Organization"?

there are countless issues that people have with the society and which together have led to many people realizing that it is not what it claims and pretends to be.

these include things like the secret un affiliation, contradictory and hypocritical stances, (malawi vs mexico vs un/ngo), the ever changing blood policy and ever changing doctrine, failed predictions for armageddon etc, etc, etc.. but what is the consensus about what the fundamental flaw is?.

what i mean is, many jw's hear about these various issues and manage to make endless excuses for them, even though this involves gross hypocrisy and excusing the society for things they would never excuse in other religions and which the society itself has ruthless condemned other religions for over almost 100 years.

The main flaw is that the claim is made to prove it is the truth. Here they are.

1. We are the only people doing God's will - proclaiming the Kingdom Good News.

2. Look at the cleaned up lives of our members - real true Christians.

3. Worldwide unity - in thought & purpose.

4. The Big One - Look at our growth, only God's true org could have such growth.

5. We are on the Watch - no one else saw 1914! We are true prophets!

Big problems with this reasoning - growth in other orgs, flip / flops in doctrine, scandals, df love?
So, with that many say - well, this is the closest thing out there and I am sure and confident that Jah is backing them (I hope). Esp, since I am banking and betting with my life (woops - that might be gone due to transplant reversal and blood reversals and quack medicine. Oh well, Jeh will reward me to paradise on earth, (or could it be a secondary heaven or just heaven?) Now, I think I may have a problem! Hum!!!!!!

WT Spending

i know this topic has been discussed here before, but i still cease to be amazed at the spending that the wt does to build it's facilities.

this is an issue that jws like to brag about.

today i received an email regarding the open house of the new casa grande az assembly hall.

The GB are a frugal group. They get gifts, free stays at bros beachfront houses, meals from rich bros and the like.
Assembly halls, kingdom halls are all paid for by funds from local bros and a loan for HQ if needed. Congs and circuits that had extra money are now required to give it to the Society or have other needy congs use it. They use the scripture about an equalizing. If excess funds come into a CA or SAD they vote (the local elders) to send the $ to the WWWork.

Accounting is so clamped down on now, with accountability for all KH remodels, builds, AS Hall builds and remodels. A letter about a year ago said even if you had the money for a remodel you couldn't without Regional approval and strict (over the top) guidelines. The reason is that there has been over the top KHs and Assembly Halls built and corruption with $ on some builds (I have seen and been involved in a few).

People, get your facts straight. The beancounters are working OT at HQ. Much like the lawyers and legal staff. After all, they feel a dread of accountability when it comes to handling the $ and don't want Big Bros Govt wrath and more scandal than there already is.

once two brothers convinced me to pop up at a wedding, just to gratulate them.

i bumbed into the 2 brother just by coincidence on the street.

i was wearing a leather biker jacket and tracksuit pants.

Gave a meeting part on the service meeting when I was drunk - slurred words, had a hard time finding scriptures. One brother afterwards asked me if I was feeling alright, another said I did a good job, nice deliberate paced talk. my wife wanted to kill me after the meeting! The part was "Why report what is bad!" Have to love it!

remember that guy who used to wave a stick like he was conducting an orchestra except there was no orchestra, only a guy playing the piano and the audience singing?.

Were You Good At Field Service?

i used to be in awe at the jw's who were so good at the doors.

they were conversational, informative, and knowledgeable.

i sucked.

Back in the old days when we asked for the money it was easy to place them, especially mags for a nickel or books for a quarter. Then came the added price and then the donation arrangement - which no one uses anymore. I hated rvs, but studies were a dream with kids or challenged (mental) people. Once did an rv where we sat and watched a football game and drank beer (counted the time). The guy offered me grass! The good ole days.

My first panic attack

guess where my first panic attack occurred?

at the kindom hall of course.

i was 14yrs old and thought i was being "possessed by a demon".. panic attacks became more common, and at the age of 18 i was diagnosed with "panic disorder with depression".

Zoloft has been a wonder for me. Thought I was having heart attacks, sweats, tingling and thoughts of running off the road driving. It is a joy to be calm and not stressed out now. Side affects are excessive sweating and some trouble sleeping, some ringing in the ears, but the racing mental obsessions are long gone. Breathing is the key, but when you have an attack it is the last thing you can focus on. Tried Lexapro but it makes you sluggish and put on weight. It was expensive, no generics.

How did the idea that Jesus' ministry lasted 3 1/2 years develop?

i previously asked about the evolution in the application of daniel 9 to the christian's jesus.. naturally, leo generously provided the answer, and i am deeply greatful to her for her help!.

she also pointed out that the "solution" that jesus' ministry lasted 3 1/2 years is circular reasoning.

that is, we know that the prophecy is correct and that jesus' ministry lasted for 3 1/2 years because that is what the prophecy had predicted.

His ministry began after his baptism - applied Isa. to himself. Active in training and preaching till death.

Interesting, all he did from age 12 to 30 at his baptism, was to read in the synagouge and go for the festivals. That is why people said - the carpenter or the carpenter's son. He was a full-time pioneer for only 3 and 1/2 years. Just a reg pub during the other days. So, all the hype about be like Jesus - look at his whole life - not just 3 and 1/2 years. A great example for ones in the org.

did you stash literature away in 1974?

in ballarat victoria, australia, under the floor of the garage in a little yard, it a pile of wt literature.. in 1974, expecting banning and persecution, mother and we 3 children dug a hole and buried bibles, watchtowers and god knows what.. i wonder if it is still there?.

took a look on google earth and the shed still stands!!!.

As a Witness - What did you Notice in How Elders Got Appointed ?

i found it amazing being raised in the witnesses to see exactly who got appointed sometimes as an elder.

it seemed that the criteria in my opinion had more to do with getting 10 hours a month in field service, answering at meetings, carrying microphones as a ministerial servant, or handling the magazine or literature counter !

in doing these " functions " and attending meetings on a regular basis - a man was thought to be considered " spiritually strong " and qualify to be an elder and serve on judicial committees judging people's personal problems.

They groom them for the club. Is he a yes man andwill he not rock the boat? Then they go over the scriptural qualifications. I have seen some remain ms for 15 years, some for only 1 or 2yrs before being appointed. I have also seen ones clearly unqualified remain for many years until disaster strikes. Some want to step down (and should - because of poor example), but they allow them to remain.

I dare the COs to ask the bros at the elders school or elder meeting with CO or DO to ask - "Who feels they do not qualify and should no longer serve? No questions will be asked. Just turn in your book and you are free to leave." 1/3 of the bros would step aside, resign or walk away. The worse thing they do is to stick with unqualified bros, judgmental, crazy, sick, 1/2 dead or lazy bros. It is the main weakness of the org. Without strong leaders who will work hard and tow the line there will continue to be 1/2 hearted efforts and problems. No amount of meetings, articles, schools or rah-rah parts will make up for the glaring situation. It is almost a joke when you visit some congs - elders / ms not there, very late, unorganized, haughty, not prepared or even studied for the meetings. And watch out on some of the crazy things that come out of their mouths from the platform. It is unbelievable!

Elder got df'ed

he had relationship with a female jw of the same congo.now that they are both df'ed they are gonna get married and then get reinstated.his ex-wife will have to see the new happy family 2 times every week at the meetings.sweet.

Never forget when I was PO the number of elders, ms and pios who were partying, swapping, drunks, smoking, picking up hookers, etc. We had so many committee meetings that people had to take a number! We had about 4 or 5 matters going at a time during the late 90s. As my name says, I have seen it all. The child molesting (former - prior to 18 & baptism (sure) ms whose accusers were to terrified to confront him- all WT legal said - why is he a ms? I kid you not, that was all that was said, no followup reporting - I knew then I had to resign or get deleted (which happened) - another story later.

Juicy one from Bethel - the dentist and his wife lived off site in a house. One of the good farm boys would go over and service the wife at her house. The dumb dentist didn't have a clue. Thought she would stay at home during the day due to her time of the month or headaches! The dentist remained at Bethel, remarried and was even shown on a cover of Awake years ago.

Midnight feeler creeper - would sneek into married couples room when they were out for meeting or evening. Hid under the bed and when they were sleeping - "the feeler struck". The mornings after were great, the threats from the breakfast table - turn yourself in or we will DF you automatic! Such love and concern for the horny bros and the unsatisfied wives. Could go on for hours and could also write a book - but the horrors!
