JW teenagers party's
by bigmac ini fondly remember my teenage days as a jw--back in the 1960's.. circuit assemblies-in birmingham, england uk.
after the sunday afternoon god-fest there was usually a party--somewhere--in the evening.. one of the lads--his parents were care-takers (janitors?
) of an office block in the city centre.

ratko mladic
by bigmac inthe trial of ratko mladic is underway: a man accused of being responsible for the largest act of genocide in europe since the second world war.. .
by comparison, millions of jehovahs witnesses pray for, & eagerly look forward to,--a hoped for mass slaughter of most of the worlds population by their god of love.. .
no further comment..

jw splinter groups
by bigmac injookbeard wrote:.
"they are globally united in their beliefs;.
not true there are many splinter groups and sects of the wts and they have the worse retention rates of any man made religious cult on the planet".

then and now 40 years later
by bigmac ini want to put "pen to paper" so to speak, comparing what i left behind as a young jw man 40 years ago, with what ive been reading on this site.. i cant include everything in 1 post, so please put up with me while i compile my recollections.. this is not a hate-filled diatribe, but hopefully a worthwhile comparison.
i grew up as a jw, being baptised at 14, left school at 15, started pioneering at 17.. the congregation i spent 5 years in, 1966-71, brings back many fond memories, the most important being the love we all shared for each other.. the emphasis was on helping one another; circuit servant visits were eagerly looked forward to, assemblies a treat.. very occasionally, someone might slip up & sin.
usually it involved sex, most times the person was put on probation ( ever heard that word?).

buying time--you've nothing to lose.
by bigmac into all members who still associate with the jw's, please consider this:.
if you're "in" because you fear you might lose spouse/family /friends--why not put it to the test.. just leave.. no need to resign: just stop all association--dont accept any literature/offers of help/shepherding/whatever.. what is likely to happen---will your spouse start divorce proceedings?--on what grounds?.
will your family /friends turn their back on you?--maybe.
