My dalmatian was fixed and never got fat. But then she never did slow down much-activity is one of the breeds well known traits, lol.

Will you always be a Jehovah's witness?
by tsunami_rid3r inthis is an emotional thread for me right now.
my parents just visited me, and their witness talk has gotten me down.
my mom asked me the usual questions i will say yes to.

Hi Tsunami,
I think it's pretty common-even amongst non-JWs, to be conflicted and unsure of the future when one is preparing to graduate. You are moving on to the unknown, so to speak. You know how to be a student and what's expected of you. Becoming a professional is all new territory. It also means that society expects you to take on a different role. This can all result in having to deal with fear.
The JW angle of it all is deciding whether to stay in your town, or to move on where you can make a fresh start without their interference. It's tough enough for nonJWs to deal with this juncture with their family's support. It's harder when your family is part of the problem. But Tsunami, you DO have an inner strength to tap into. Its the same strength that allowed you to be courageous enough in the past to examine the JW doctrine and history.
Be gentle with yourself as you contemplate these changes. Then feel the fear and do it anyway
As far as feeling disdain for religion-it's perfectly NORMAL to feel disdain for something that causes you pain! You are grieving, and anger and blame are a part of that process for most people. And take it from me, ex JWs are NOT the only ones who feel that way. It's not as if you are going to take the leap away from the JWs and end up in a world where everyone else is religious. Also, you can feel disdain for something, while still allowing others the right to love what you hate (it takes a little while to be able to do this, after being a member of the "us against them" JWs, but it WILL happen with time).
By the way, congratulations for getting to THIS point! Education is so important, and you are well on your way to acheiving that goal. Just take it step by step and slow down emotionally when it all starts feeling like too much to handle. LOL, and the run is probably the BEST thing you could've done for yourself-keep that up, too.

by Dorktacular ini know i've run into quite a few weirdos.
i had one guy that told us that adolph hitler was going to come back from the dead to kill all jws.
needless to say, he didn't want a copy of the watchtower!

LOL! When I was a pre-JW kid, I used to start preparation for Christmas in July each year. My sisters and brothers were STUNNED, to say the least, when I joined the JWs and gave up Christmas.
Now, I tend to get more into the mood after Halloween, so I will join the Christmas discussions then.

Can you find the image all Kingdumb Hells have?
by WTWizard inno, kingdumb hells do not have traditional images.
they lack crosses, statues, and other symbols that most christian churches have.
however, they do have an image.

My old kingdom hall didn't have the watchtower symbol-not even on the sign, just the year text over the stage and four paintings done by the POs wife. They did build a new hall after we left, though. I'll have to take a look to see if they have it outside the new one. I'm not going inside to see if they have it in there, though.

I came to a realization just now, how about you?
by return visitor ini have been inactive now for over a half a year, and i am just now realizing that there was not one thing i enjoyed about being a witness.
i enjoyed my friends and association with witnesses, and still do.
but i didn't enjoy one thing that we were supposed to do, not one.

Well, I was a misguided bookish person who got involved with them when I was sixteen, so I enjoyed the studying. But then they started emphasizing answering ONLY by rephrasing what was in the paragraphs, and that got boring really fast. And if I would've had a CLUE about the wrong dates, etc, I wouldn't have lasted nearly as long as I did.
I HATED field service
The best thing about the DCs and assemblies was lunch when they used to provide it, lol (those danishes were pretty good).
I used to LOVE the annual square dance and skating parties we had with three other congregations, but then they put a stop to that, too.
LOL WT: When I started up with the JWs, they had four day conventions. Someone told me back in the day they used to be SEVEN days long!

On just about everything. We have some beauts in the garden this year. They are really hot, but when we put them in salsa, they weren't so hot. Anyone know what's up with that? Is it the vinegar, maybe?
LOL, one time I made spaghetti and put too many peppers in. It was a nonstick pan, and it ate the nonstick coating right off it.
