It is amazing that in this day an age of scientific enlightenment people still believe that earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural occurences are some kind of mysterious magical punishments that happen as a result of disobedience towards their God.

Jehovah is sending a warning to Putin--so say jw's
by wannaexit indubs in a pro-jw forum are talking about the earthquake in kamchatka russia.
they are speculating that this is jehovah's warning to putin.
what kind of twisted logic is this?.

Todays Daily text is yet another gem of spiritual encouragement
by NikL inwednesday, march 29.
if a man takes a false step before he is aware of it, you who have spiritual qualifications try to readjust such a man in a spirit of mildness.—gal.
kindness can help you to deal with a conflict of loyalties.

What a horrible text. Report your nearest and dearest to the elders which will probably result in them getting df'd and you will then have to shun them forever.
If this isn't proof that they break up families then I don't know what is.
Makes me so glad that I am no longer answerable to them.

Latest elders meeting during circuit visit
by Saltheart Foamfollower infor those not aware:- during the circuit visit there is a meeting with elders &ministerial servants based on an outline.
the mss are dismissed then local matters (eg new elders, meeting attendance etc) are discussed.
recently there has also been a part of the outline just for elders - one year it was about stopping anyone dressing in a "gender blurring" way from going on the ministry.. the latest visit has a section of the outline for elders.

My father moved and HAD been privately reproved and the elders did nothing....I called the COBOE in his new congregation and he knew nothing about it and was upset, he had 4 young children. So Legal can still decide not to notify the new BOE. No matter what, only the elders can protect their own children, but no one else in that congregation will be notified officially.
The sisters in the congregation have no chance of knowing these things unless an elder chooses to warn them that there is a need to protect their children. Very worrying indeed.

Do JW members follow any directive from GB blindly?
by Da.Furious infollowing from the worldwide campaign to send letters to the russian government: topic covered here.. i started observing a scary trend, i got around 100 messages on multiple messaging apps, facebook and other social media posts encouraging all jws to send letter to the russian government protesting on the ban with the hope they will overturn it.. what struck me is that all are doing it and encouraging others to do it.
so, what if the gb via jw.org request something like street protests, civil disobedience, to the extreme of voting for or against a particular law or fighting (far-fetched).. what would the jw membership do, not the awakened one?
in addition, i feel this exercise exposes the awakened ones.

The letterhead is meant to convey the fact that all who are writing aren't just welfare recipients. It gives an air of legitimacy to the Witnesses.
So, the Russian Government are going to receive loads of letters from window washers, plumbers, plasterers and electricians. If this adds an air of legitimacy to the campaign, then all well and good.
However, apart from instructing the rank and file to write letters, has there been any mention of Watchtower representatives themselves flying out to Russia to meet with the government to discuss this issue face to face? Surely they should be pulling out all the stops at this worrying time when their own loyal followers are in desperate need of their help and support? If they want an air of legitimacy then this is surely what should be happening. Maybe they ARE doing this and I missed the announcement.

The Bible Texts Watchtower has never commented on
by ILoveTTATT2 inthe watchtower library is a great tool to learn more about the watchtower itself.
for example, answering the question "does the word "organization" ever appear in the bible"?
is easy to answer using it.

I can't remember this verse being used very often in WT teachings.
Judges 4:4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
Yet WT don't allow women to have any degree of responsibility these days.

Baptism at 10 years of age! March 2017 broadcast
by stuckinarut2 in(i wanted to put this in the child abuse section of the forum!).
we have seen that during the march 2017 broadcast, m stephen lett has openly praised children who get baptised as young as 10!.
so lets summarize why it is wrong to push child baptism (not far off "infant baptism" that jws condemn other churches for).

what happened to Jesus was baptized at 30 and following him as a model closely?
Exactly what I was thinking Awakenednow!
Even in those crazy years leading up to 1975 when we youngsters were being told that Armageddon would come before we had a chance to finish college, and families were selling their homes in order to devote the remaining years in this system to pioneering, it was still very rare to see a child get baptised, and if it happened it was frowned upon by older members of the congregation for that very reason that they were too young to know what they were doing. Mid teens seemed to be considered quite young enough for such a huge commitment.
How long will it be before we see a video of Sophia and Caleb getting baptised I wonder?

What is the basis for advising “Don’t pursue higher studies”?
by venus intwo elders who visited my friend last week encouraged her not to pursue higher studies.
it seems they are dishing out the same old stuff: “the end is imminent, and this is the time to do more in the service; hence don’t waste your resources on higher studies.”.
i wonder whether there was some official communiqué (something that is sent out recently like letter to the elders, or kingdom ministry article …).

i watched a video of Anthony Morris III giving a talk warning parents that they shouldn't let their kids go to college because the students are taught philosophy which wakes them up to TTATT
He gave an example of a woman moaning to him that her son no longer wanted to be a JW since going to college, and AMIII had no sympathy for her, as "she was the one who had dropped him off there".
There you have it, plain and simple, keep them away from higher education or they WILL wake up to TTATT.

JWs Like to Take Away Hope...
by JW_Rogue ini think the worst thing about jws is that they like to take away peoples realistic hopes for a happy life now and replace it with false hope for the future.
tell a jw you want to go college and get a good career and they'll tell you that college is a waste of time, that you'll end up in debt or that the economy is so bad there are no jobs.
tell a jw about how scientists have discovered a new technology that could improve millions of lives and they'll tell you that scientists and technology have "ruined the earth" and cannot be trusted.

So they take away people's hope in anything that can realistically happen through man's effort and replace it with just waiting for God to make everything perfect. For JWs if it is not a perfect solution then there is no need to even care about it.
So true. Just sit back and "wait on Jehovah" to provide the solution to all the suffering in the world.
In the meantime, we will waste our REAL lives just dreaming about all the careers and hobbies we intend to do in the New System.
Then one day we wake up to TTATT and realise what has actually happened.

"Look what you made me do to you"
by Zoos inthis line used by abusive spouses and governing bodies who mandate shunning:.
look what you made me do to you...".
it's got a bit of a history (according to the bible).

Great observation Zoos.
God has proved himself to be a master at throwing his dummy out of the pram when things don't go his way. Every childish tantrum thrown by God throughout the Bible, and all the suffering resulting from these hissy fits has ALWAYS been someone else's fault, never his own, even though he is supposedly the all powerful, super intellectual creator of all things living and inanimate. How did all the imperfections in mankind come into being in the first place if God didn't put them there?
Therefore, it only follows that his loyal subjects will use the same line of reasoning to excuse all their own hissy fits when they don't get their own way.
Yes, all you children who refuse to dedicate your entire lives to a controlling organisation and get kicked out and shunned by your family, left to fend for yourselves, you deserve all you get! Anything that happens to you as a result of "keeping the congregation clean" is entirely your own fault as you made us do it to you
