((((Balsam)))) ((((pc))))
*can't say anything due to emotions of dealing with a cult and a bad blood policy*
I'm so sorry for your losses and the emotions that can still be stirred up thinking about the JWs and their arragonce.

Would this be stupid?
by AK - Jeff into just lay it all on the line, tell the whole story right here on jwd, sign my real name and let the world know that i am not any longer wishing to be known as a jw?
aside from a cleansing effect - it would prove just how close the wts is scrutinizing this site.. not that i really have a need to do so - but just wondering about how it would go.
i don't really care what they do to me, to be honest.

Ok, here's the story for those who don't know it.
Hubby & I were trying to fade (after 40 years, it's hard to do). So we became involved with the child abuse issue. What better issue to stand up for. Even went to the candlelight vigil in KY while we were "in good standing". We were even posting on this board for over 2 years before we were df'd. We went public with the child abuse issue, TV spot, Newspaper article and even participated on the march at Brooklyn. That's when the elder's gave a "needs" talk (about us) and the shunning began. It was Sept 02. We didn't go back to meetings, hoping to be left alone. But no, the elders were waiting for direction from "Mother". Then in Feb 2003 they wanted to meet with us. Pulled out several pages of copied material from JWD trying to get us to admit to being "Jst2laws" and "joy2bfree". I walked out, saying they have no control over me. Hubby stayed to try and reason with his old buddies. They would not give us any reason for df'ing or 2 witnesses. Just said we were *gasp* apostates.
Just to let ya know, it took at least 2 years after having our eyes open to deprogram. Yes, many many years of being a faithful "true believer" takes time. So please be patient with yourself and enjoy life.
Now go do what you want to do, its your life.
Hugs,
Joy

My daughter is so confused
by ConcernedDad ini hope there is someone who had a similar situation and would advise to me.. my daughter veronica is 8. her mom (we are divorced) is a hard core jw.
she puts lots of pressure on my daughter for her to lead a jw approved lifestyle.
but kids are kids.

I agree with Old Soul...teach her critical thinking. As JWs we never learned it ourself, but maybe you can find some books her age level to start with. When she learns critical thinking in life situations, she'll apply it to the JWs and see all the false reasoning, strawmen, circular reasoning, etc.
Also, very importantly, show her unconditional love.
Try not to attack the JW religion but just get her to reason on why she believes something. Otherwise, she'll learn to build fences around her religion and her thinking and won't let you in.
Good luck.

the reasons why we leave makes a difference...
by littletree ini have a dilemma (did i spell dilemma correctly?
): i am the only person i know, of any of my former witness associates, who left because i started doubting/stopped believing the teachings.
i did research on the internet, read books, talked to people from different religions, etc.

walk-away-believers is what I call them.
Just like JW's you can't change their mind. They have to be willing to see the WT for what it is.
If you don't want to lose their friendship, don't let it slip what you have found out. But if you don't care and want to quit looking over your shoulder, then drop subtle hints about the wrong dogma, dates, etc.

oh yes, someone at WTBTS or local elders are reading this site. At my JC meeting back in 2003 the elders pulled out a long printed copy of all my comments here on JWD. The elders wouldn't admit to who told them to present that material but........
.....happy to longer belong to a cult class.

why bother? You verbally told them to leave you guys alone. Don't jump through their hoops, it only gives them power.
Do nothing, imho.

There is no graceful way to back out ...
by ljwtiamb ini find it interesting that the chickens have come home to roost for wts.. just as they have allowed no dignified way to exit the org, without disgrace, there seems to be no way for them to gracefully apologize for past (errors???).
just think of the recent mass exodus of faithful that has come about with each major doctrine change.
so many have been ruined by devoting their lives to the gb, that even if there was a sincere effort to correct things, i believe that the vast majority of the current membership would just revolt.. it's just a matter of time before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.. so, whaddya think?.

The Roman Catholic house of cards have been going on for over 2000 years......so why not the WTBTS?

i have to hate them
by joelbear inhopefully i've given something to someone here over the years.
i know i've taken plenty.. i had to come here, the only place where i can say what i have on my mind and know that people will understand.. i took an overdose of medication on monday.
my long battle with anxiety and depression that is well chronicled on these pages got the best of me once again.

hey ((((joelbear)))) sorry life socked you in the gut again.
It always seems to hit when we deal with our family. The hurt that keeps going on because of a publishing company is just terrible. And you can't just "get over it" because it is not that simple.
Please keep doing what you are doing. You'll find your way.
Hugs,
Joy
ps Merry, wonderful ditty, love it.
