My sister-in-law, who lives in WI, said the couple who created that game were in her congregation and when they became "rich", they left the "truth". So you know us JW's couldn't play that game.

Dungeons and Dragons game & JW urban legends
by rebel8 indoes anyone remember this game from (i think) the early '80s?
it's a role playing game of some sort that included some violent imagery or something.. i remember jws (and the media, come to think of it) making a big, big deal of it.
something like it was demonized or made kids murder people.

Welcome to the board, confession.
First of all I don't think it is a black or white issue.
So which is it? Be frank--or just dodge it?
There are too many variables to have only one answer. There may be many, many ways to play out your hand. But think about how it will effect your parents/siblings/other family members/etc and be true to yourself.
You maybe "stumbled" about learning about the UN/NGO thing and want to look into it, for example. But put the burden on the WT and their lies/childabuse/blood policy/df'ing/etc on why you need to really look at things.
*shrug*
just a thought

confusion
by inarock&ahardplace ini am going through a difficult time with my feelings on things.
i have a really good friend that helps me with research she has done in regards to "is this the true religion", but has anyone else out there been so torn that even with evidence one way or another in front of you, you still feel empty when you think of not having the 'truth' in your life?
i have 3 children and was raised in the 'truth' so was my husband.

welcome to the board.
yes, I was litterally dizzy for days after reading Crisis of Conscience when the house of cards came tumbling down. It like takes the breath away from you, wind out of your sails, etc, etc, etc. But it is better to work through the mental process of "deprogramming" than to live lies.
Be patient with yourself and family. Remember the basic, love yourself and love your family. There is nothing to hurry for anymore, so take the time to allow yourself to grieve over your loss (it's real to you, even thought it was built on a fairtale) and allow at least 2 years to figure out who you are and what to do with the rest of your life.
I call it a right of passage. Anyone who has been in a "high congrol" group needs time to get over the blow to your psychie.
Hugs,
Joy

I am trying to get her to a place where she is comfortable without all the answers.
exactly.
JW's think they have all the answers and that makes people happy. A psuedo happiness.

Play in the ASSembly orchestra/chorus? BCKM Before Canned Kingdm Melodies
by mapleaf18 ini played violin; it was the only interesting thing to do!
-
Joyzabel
yes, I used to play clarinet, and could transpose the music straight from the songbook (Bflat instrument, piano is C)
Then I changed to flute (easy to play, no transposing, lol)
Played at the KHs. Loved to play with lots of feeling. Loud when it needed to be loud, soft when it was suppose to. *sigh * oh well.
Now I just play for my enjoyment. And no stupic songs made of all cords.

Should an Elder be involved in any of the following????
by pr_capone ini am asking for a simple opinion here.
according to the latest jw "laws", should and active witness, much less one serving as an elder, do any work for military institutions such as the air force, navy, and u.s. army?
i submit the following link http://besappraisals.com/john.html (please copy and paste).

welcome to the board "allalongthewatchtower".
I strongly recommend you get a copy of Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom by Raymond Franz. Also Apocalypse Delayed by James Penton. Those books should help summerize what is wrong with the Jehovah's Witnesses.
But be forwarned, if your wife is studying with them, they already warn her about persecusion from family members. So go slow and appeal to her critical thinking and love of family.
