  Disappointed a little .... How many of your family still stuck in the borg?

  my brother had called a few months ago, and said he and his family will be travelling through on their way to the usa, i have now found out that they are passing me by, and just continuing on to their destination.. i haven't seen him or my nephews in 10 years, actually this was the first time i talked to him in 5 years and was quite surprised they were even considering coming by.

  a brief history on me, i left the borg at 20, and i ran, moved 2000 miles to get away from family.

  they really believed (i think) that i was going to fall flat on my face and come crawling back asking for forgiveness, dream on.

  my parents, sister, and brothers are all still in. but, i think there may be some changes soon. this is why i think that.

  i have two younger brothers, 18 and 20. they were both born after i had left home and had two children of my own. well my children are now 18 and 23. but because i was always known to by brothers as disfellowshipped, we never really got to know each other. even though my children were the same age, none of us were allowed to communicate, except on a few rare occasions. anyway, this past summer, my children went back to the town my parents live in. i asked my children to stop by and visit my parents and brothers, (their grandparents) they didn't want to, because of course they don't know these people. but they agreed to do it. when they got home a few days later, they said," Mom, we don't know how to tell you this. but your brothers and parents are weird. they don't talk to each other, they are were never two of them in the same room at a time. one would come in and one would leave." .... but, this gave my children a chance to talk to each person seperately. lots of stuff i could tell you about here, but the one thing that sticks in my mind, is my children said that my youngest brother has a collection of naked pictures of his girlfriend, ninja stars, and swords or knifes.

  i had an uncomfortable experience yesterday.

  i was in a barnes and noble bookstore when nature called, so i walk into the men's' room.

  there are two stalls - one for wheelchair access, and one regular one.

  Good job, Nathan. I always pay attention to whats going on around me. You just never know if your going to be an eye witness of a crime, or spot a missing child or someone being abused. Given the same circumstances, I would have done the same thing that you did, not much else you could do.

  I have taken my son in to the bathroom with me when he was little, all the way in the stall. I didn't have a choice he couldn't stand still and was always in to everything. I had a hard enough time trying to keep him in the stall, many times I was still seated pants around my ankles and one hand on his shoe while he's trying to crawl under the stall to get away from me. Laughing the whole time, like it was some kind of game.

  ) they are only around during the "good times", but not there for you, during the bad

  ) the friendship is based on their terms only.

  Fairweather Friends: That is the term my dad the elder would use for brothers and sisters that were only at the meeting if it was convenient for them.

  Is there one thing that convinces you that the JW's are wrong ???

  doctrines, people, elders, family, beliefs, is there a certain thing that convinces you they are wrong ???.

  had a discussion with my mom the other day and she asked "how can you be so sure they are wrong ?".

  i picked two topics that i had not talked to her about ( already said the pedophile, un, generation stuff.).

  I'm in the same line as Rocketman. I never really cared or knew for sure until recently if they were right or wrong. What I did know, was that I wasn't happy as a JW. I just couldn't hate what they thought was bad, and I had a hard time jumping through all the hoops that was required of me.

  Bravo Pam, ....You just wrote my own story, up until you get to the part about joining another church. I never could get involved in another religion. I read a lot about different religions and went to several different churches, but only for one or two visits.

  thanks to little toe's piquing my interest on this subject, i hafta ask it...... .

  has anyone here had any personal spiritual experiences and is anyone here brave enough to describe/relate any personal spiritual experiences they've had, whether pre-borg, during being borganized or post-borg?

  to be more specific, have you ever seen any angels or spirit creatures, been made aware of their presence in any way, interacted with or communicated with them, or had dream/visions...etc?

  It's puff, puff, pass, people, get it right anyone have a light. _______________ I have experienced lots of what I would call weird occurances. Gifts....talents....ESP....coincidences....I don't know, but they are real. My experiences can be anything as inocent as saying 'someone grab the phone' seconds before it actually rings, to telling someone something about theirselves, before they even knew it themselves. Then they would call me later and say how did you know that? I don't know where I get my information it just pops in my head. Lisa

  but it has just occurred to me that many of my life long friends have either had periods in there life where they have or continue to smoke it .

  what if anything has your experience with pot taught you either about yourself or someone you know , was it a positive or negative infuence .

  For Mexican food Lovers only!

  ok, i have an important announcement.

  my wife will verify this is important.

  there was once four different restaurants on our 'side of the bridge' where i could get mexican food.

  I love Mexican food...but I'm sure living in Ohio, I don't get the real stuff that you in Texas get. I won't even eat at a TacoBell or TicoTaco....yuck

  I also want to mention to people that think they can't eat mexican because of ulcers or whatever, That when I first met my husband, he said he couldn't eat mexican because it hurt his stomach. So I eased him into it a little at a time. Over time the chilis actually helped his stomach and now he's the 'hotter the better' type.

  Oh and one more thing. I am related the the Pace's....as in Pace Salsa. Yep, and if I knew how to load pictures, I'd show you a picture of my great-great-grandfather Pace.

  I first starting smoking pot when I was 17 or 18. I am now 41 and still smoke it. Pot has never kept me from getting or keeping a job. I have never had any problems with the law regarding my use of pot. I don't have memory problems, or health problems. Actually, I suffered for years with migraines and pot was the only thing that help without making me feel druged up.

  I can hold conversations and work and no one ever knows whether I'm high or not. Most people don't even have a clue that I smoke, I don't look like your typical druggie. Even my husband and children don't know if I'm high because I'm always the same. The pot just makes me FEEL different, I don't act or look different. I have tons of energy and do something creative when I'm high. Such as redecorating or craft projects.

  I currently do the bookkeeping for a car dealership and I am office manager of a tax office with 20 employees during tax season. No one that I work with has any idea, and would probably be shocked to find out.

  I do know people that have went down hill fast when they starting using. But, I also would rather my children smoked pot than drink alcohol if they were going to use drugs.

  Weird thing is I'm not a big drinker. Only a Cronona with my Mexican dinner, or I may have a drink if I'm out with friends. And I have never smoked ciggies.

  in perusing the postings here in the "friends" section, i notice how many of us are still hashing over and rehashing the evils of the organization we were a part of, and how it hurt us, etc.
