I saw the first one on tv the other day. It was very disturbing! I turned the channel, it made me sick. I wonder what those children will grow up to be, and how these experiences will affect their development.

Child preachers - I find this very disturbing
by freetosee ini believe young children are often capable of much more then we imagine.
these preacher children are surly very talented.
as much as i find them ever so cute, i find it disturbing how their parents use them to further their own religious ambitions.. .

Worried about my friend
by pharmer ini have a friend who has been a jw for a couple years (baptized).
she might have to undergo gallbladder surgery.
i'm worried for her (about the blood issues)and have made that known.

Welcome Pharmer!!
She will almost certainly be disfellowshipped if it is known that she is reading Crisis of Conscience. While there is always a risk with surgery, I know at least four people who have had their gall bladders removed, and everything went very smoothly. I know that is no proof that hers will go off without a hitch, but I just thought I would mention that to ease your mind. Not saying it will, but just in case..... Has she had open conversations with her surgeon to discuss the risks and possible treatments should something go wrong?

Is my marriage worth saving?
by sacdfan inlong story - will make it short - i was a jw for 4 years.
hy husband took to it straigt away and has been a jw for 20 years - we were both converted by one of his workmates.
our 4 kids were all baptised jws and thankfully 3 escaped (2 disfellowshipped, one fading) - so my eldest son is still in with his dad.

Djeggnog-----Apathetic about my life? What makes you think that you are in a position to make that obviously WRONG assumption. Its clear that you like to voice your VERY long-winded opinions, but I don't want to hear them. I was speaking to sacd, and your comments were very insensitive. Please don't address anymore posts to me. If you wish to slam my character, you may pm me. I didn't slam you as a person, only your comments. And while you are defending the JW religion, you are breaking one of their most stringent laws for their followers by being on here. If it were to be found out that you had viewed this site, let alone frequented it, you would be cut off. I don't care that you are on this site, but don't expect everyone here to tiptoe around your ridiculous comments and say nothing about them when you offend.
sacd---- I'm sorry to get caught up replying to nog, I shouldn't let nasty comments get to me, but sometimes I fail! The fact that JWs cannot listen to anyone else's view on scriptures without trying to convert them, and the fact that they find it very difficult to open their mind to any point of view that is not the governing bodies, it would make it very hard for you two to have a constructive conversation or study about spiritual things. I wouldn't feel right telling you to stay or go, that has to be your decision. But I can ask you about your feelings for him and your life situation. Sometimes talking about them out loud, or typing them out can clarify things a bit. Have you envisioned your life both ways yet? That is what your life is like living with him, and what it would be like if you were not living with him? I mean really try to picture it, and see how each option makes you feel?

I'm so sorry that you are going through this sacd. I do not feel qualified to give you advice one way or the other as to whether to stay or go. But I know that everyone has their breaking point, and once it is reached, there is no going back. And please ignore Jdeggnog's insensitive and asinine comments. If he likes the Borg so much, he really shouldn't be on this site anyway. Please try to hang in there, and I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

I play Scrabble with my husband and mother-inlaw. The real thing, not online. Its a good game to pass the time when its in the dead of winter and there is not a lot you can do outside. I love Scrabble! And Scattergories.

i spoke with an elder about university
by MsGrowingGirl20 inhe always tells me that i've adopted him as a father...we're pretty close.
i spoke with him asking for some advice about whether or not to pursue my degree.he, to my surprise, couldn't give me his opinion.he told me that if he tells me how he really feels (he says he has some strong views on the matter) he may be disciplined for 'promoting higher education'....in effect he was telling me to go ahead and pursue my degree but not really saying it.
he asked me to promise him that i'll speak to the presiding overseer and the circuit overseer....i haven't as yet.

College is a wonderful experience, it can be challenging, but it is so rewarding. I think that the WBTS doesn't like for its members to participate in further education because it teaches you critical thinking, and makes you a more well-rounded person. I am so happy that you have been accepted! Congratulations! It is very hard and confusing to learn the truth about "the truth", but in the end, it is soooooo good for you. Glad to have you here, and I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts!

Troubled --- I am so happy that you have your family out with you. Such a wonderful thing. I felt like you did about ending my life when I was a JW. I was very afraid to leave, but I knew that if I stayed married to my JW husband and in the religion, I was going to kill myself. Life is so much better now!

They could have saved paper by just getting to the d*mn point in the first place by saying something like. "How dare Brother So and So question our God given right to tell people to throw away their chances at a comfortable life for a worthless, unfulfilling life of knocking on doors? Delete and publicly humiliate him at once."

Did your spirituality improve after confessing to wrongdoing?
by jwfacts ini was reading this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/220730/1/had-my-jc-today-oh-sugar, and morbidzbaby mentioned their husband confessed to uncleaness because he did not feel he was getting blessed by jehovah.
however, blessings did not increase after the confession.. it made me wonder about the whole idea of confessing so that you do not loose jehovah's blessing.
when i was in bethel i confessed about a couple of menial things.

I confessed sins with a completely repentant heart , no one was going to tell on me, no one knew what I had done, I confessed all on my own. I was ridiculed, degraded, and mentally and psychologically raped for hours by the elders in my hall. That was the beginning of my departure from the JW religion. The way my situation was handled was so scarring, I still have trouble forgiving them...
